*Edited on 10/20 to add Harlow vs Iris!*
I reviewed the new Zoya Winter/Holiday 2015 Matte Velvets Collection a couple days ago, and I was curious how some of the new shades compared to the old ones, so I decided to throw together a quick comparison post.
Mainly I narrowed it down to 3 color groups since those were the ones that seemed to resemble the original Matte Velvet collection. I will be comparing Verushka to Honor, Savita to Iris and Posh to Alma, both with and without top coat.
Verushka vs Honor
First up are the greens! Verushka is from the original Matte Velvet Collection and Honor is from the Winter/Holiday 2015 collection.
I found the greens to actually be the closest – but still not dupes. While doing this comparison though I realized my bottle of Verushka has weird little clumps in it that weren’t there before (it’s probably been about 9 months since I last wore it)
Savita vs Iris
The purples are up next – Savita and Iris! Savita is from the original Matte Velvets and Iris is from the new Winter/Holiday 2015 collection. Even in the bottle, you can tell they are not dupes – but I still wanted to see side by side.
Both are pretty and both are worth owning. This made me realize how much I still love Savita. And both look even better with top coat.
Harlow vs Iris
So when I started up these swatches for comparisons I went to my shelf that houses my Zoya shades and grabbed the similar ones… but Harlow was missing and I had an ‘out of sight, out of mind’ moment and completely forgot it! As soon as I saw a comment below asking about it I thought “HOW DID I FORGET HARLOW?!” and went in search of it before work. FOUND IT!
So I’ll be showing the comparison between Harlow from the original Matte Velvet release and Iris from the Winter/Holiday 2015 Matte Velvet collection.
The base isn’t quite the same, but the intense shimmer in Harlow really sets it apart. I actually forgot how shimmer filled Harlow was!
Posh vs Alma
Last up we have the battle of the reds! Again, you can tell from the bottles that Alma is a brighter red. Posh is from the original Matte Velvet collection and Alma is from the Winter/Holiday 2015 collection.
Again, different enough to own both. And again… both look even more amazing with top coat.
Overview
Are any dupes? No. Verushka and Honor are the closest in color between the groups, but still different enough to own both shades.
If you missed my Zoya Winter/Holiday 2015 Matte Velvet review make sure you go take a look! I’m also giving the new Matte Velvet collection away in that post.
Hope this helped those who may have been curious! Sorry to cut it short, but I’m sleepy!

Those little clumps in Veruschka interest me because my bottle has had them from the start and distributor for my country was told/lied to that “that’s the way she should look”. My bottle was from last year’s rerelease, not from the original collection.
I don’t recall them being there before at all and now they are really noticeable and the formula seemed thinner.
A friend told me that she managed to break those clumps by vigorous shaking. It didn’t work for me, but it may do the trick for you.
What about comparing Iris and Harlow? Harlow is a much redder purple, so I’d love to see those two compared!
Oh my goodness! How did I forget Harlow? It wasn’t with my mattes so out of sight out of mind, BUT I went searching this morning after seeing your comment and found it – so I’ll add that into the comparison tonight after work :)
thaks so much, i was waiting for a comparison of these. Lovely swatches as usual.
