Urban Grunge One Coat Creams Collection
Yesterday I showed you the Zoya Fall 2016 Urban Grunge Metallic Holos Collection, and tonight I have the Zoya Fall 2016 Urban Grunge One Coat Creams Collection!
Before we really dig into this, I have to say that I was slightly disappointed in this collection. While I love some of the colors – I didn’t find any of them to truly be one coat creams. It also feels like they sacrificed a good consistency for the sake of trying to achieve one coat creams. Of the 6 shades, I only was really happy with how 2 performed and that’s disappointing since I usually find the majority of Zoya’s polishes to have amazing application. I would prefer their normal formula, requiring 2 coats to thicker 1 coat formulas. However, if you like a thicker consistency, then maybe these are more for you.
Let’s jump in and look at the second half of the Zoya Fall 2016 Urban Grunge collection!
Zoya Mallory
Zoya Mallory is a vibrant, medium blue creme. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Before I even started on these swatches, I had a couple bloggers whisper me to say it stained their nails. While I escaped without staining (thank you double base coat) the potential is definitely there, so be careful!
Zoya August
Zoya August is a medium dove grey creme. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
This is one of the main shades that I feel like the consistency was sacrificed in order to try to make it a one coater. It didn’t self level well and was thicker than I prefer.
Zoya Wyatt
Zoya Wyatt is a slightly dusty medium green. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Consistency was decent with Wyatt, still a tad thicker than I like, but it self leveled and overall was easy to work with.
Zoya Courtney
Zoya Courtney is one of my top picks for this collection. This is a deep beet red with a more crelly like consistency. I only needed 2 coats but it went on nicely.
Zoya Tara
Tara is the second one I found to have a nice consistency and easy to work with. Tara is a deep plum creme. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Zoya Noah
Noah was probably the shade that gave me the most trouble in application. I found it to be incredibly thick, didn’t self level and was just a pain to apply. It’s a shame too since it would have been a great neutral with my skin tone. Color wise – love it. Application wise – not so much.
Noah is a medium, cool toned beige creme. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Zoya Fall 2016 Urban Grunge One Coat Creams Collection Overview
Overall, I liked the Metallic Holos half of the Urban Grunge collection a ton more than the One Coat Creams. I get it, people get SO EXCITED when they apply a polish and it’s one coat – but these weren’t one coaters for me. One top of that, 2 were thicker and didn’t self level properly (August & Noah) and 4 of the 6 were thicker than I prefer. The only 2 I would recommend grabbing are Courtney and Tara, they had nice pigmentation, were easy to apply – but still needed 2 coats instead of just 1.
If you wanted my honest recommendations – save your money for the Metallic Holos half of this collection unless you really love thicker polishes. That almost pains me to type out because I do honestly adore Zoya in general, but they have better creams that released in previous collections – so you’d be better off dropping some money on those or the new Metallic Holos if you want brand new shades.

Maybe the thickness might make them good candidates for stamping? Always looking for polish that doubles as stamping but I agree..Zoya should not sacrifice quality. Thanks for the great swatches

Thanks for the honest review! These also, to me, don’t really represent ‘grunge’. Maybe I’m just too old (school), but a nice black cherry and a darker blue & a charcoal would fit the grunge theme better, I think. Beautiful swatches as always!
I can agree with that completely! I was liking the colors on both halves of the collection, but ‘grunge’ doesn’t really fit!
Lovely swatches, as always. Thank you. :)
To what Zoya shades would you compare Courtney? Anything alike, or close, in your opinion?
