Good evening and Happy Easter to those who celebrate! Tonight I have the Vapid Lacquer Curiouser & Curiouser Collection to share with you, and it’s going to be fairly photo heavy. Pretty much all of these shades have a shifty element to them so I took extra photos to try to capture that.
I’m sure none of you will mind that though.
The Vapid Lacquer Curiouser & Curiouser Collection is a 6 piece collection that was inspired by Lewis Carroll’s tales of Wonderland! The polishes are just as magical as the tales.
All of these shades are used on their own, except one and I will notate that in my swatches. For all of these photos I used Vapid Lacquer Commitment Issues as a base (I purchased this and will actually have a review on it later) and Vapid Lacquer Get Your Shine On! Quick Dry Top Coat.
Let’s jump right in.
Vapid Lacquer – I’m Late
I’m Late can be used on it’s own (as shown here) or layered over a base color. Both ways are quite stunning. First I’ll be showing it on it’s own, and then I layered it over a base which will be the set of photos following these.
I’m Late is a beautiful shimmery, slightly offwhite base with flashes of aqua blue and pink shifting shimmers. Very iridescent like and opally. I used 3 thin coats for these photos.
Vapid Lacquer – I’m Late over LVX Reine
Here I layered I’m Late over LVX Reine which is part of the LVX Spring 2017 lineup. I received both the Vapid and LVX collections on the same day, and when I saw Reine I knew I needed to pair these two up and they didn’t disappoint.
Reine is a vivid purple creme. I used 1 coat of Vapid Lacquer I’m Late for these photos over 2 coats of LVX Reine.
If you want to see more LVX, I’ll have their Spring lineup posted later this week.
Vapid Lacquer – Much Muchier
Vapid Lacquer Much Muchier is the darkest shade in the collection. This is a black crelly base with shifty shimmers that go from aqua to green to blue to violet. There are also ultra chameleon chrome flakes mixed in that shift from pink to purple to blue to gold. For good measure, Vapid added a very subtle linear holo as well as holo microglitters in. I used 2 easy coats and a glossy topcoat for these photos.
Vapid Lacquer – Nonsense
Vapid Lacquer Nonsense is a berry base that contains shimmer that shifts turquoise to purple and microflakes that shift pink to purple. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Vapid Lacquer – 6 Impossible Things
6 Impossible Things is a purple base that shifts from purple to blue to red and has a scattered holo effect. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
The shift is fairly strong on this one and absolutely beautiful.
Vapid Lacquer – Not All There Myself
Not All There Myself is a deep rosy pink with a red to gold shift. In the bottle I didn’t initially see the shift, so it took me by surprise a bit on the nails. Mixed into the shifty base you will also find microflakes that shift from blue to violet to gold, but they are much more subtle.
I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Vapid Lacquer – Whooo Are Youuu
I personally think Whooo Are Youuu will be the most popular shade in this launch. It’s my personal favorite and an incredibly well executed shade and formula.
Whooo Are Youuu is a smokey deep teal jelly base packed with pink to purple to green to gold shifting shimmer and an incredible amount of silver holographic flakes. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Surprisingly enough you should only need 1 coat of decent top coat for a smooth finish on this. With the amount of flakes, I really thought I might need 2, but everything laid relatively flat on the nail with no lumps, bumps or issues. If you use a super thin top coat, then you might need 2 coats.
Vapid Lacquer Curiouser & Curiouser Collection Overview
A shifty mix of colors is perfect for the inspiration behind these shades. There is a nice mix of colors from a super light shimmer shifter all the way to a deep mysterious one. And of course, a lot of purple shift all over the place which steals my heart every time. I had no application issues and all 6 shades were good to go in 2-3 coats depending on the polish. Depending on your top coat, the only shade you *might* have to double up on top coat with would be Whooo Are Youuu, but it’s not likely.
My Top Picks for the Vapid Lacquer Curiouser & Curiouser Collection would be Whooo Are Youuu, I’m Late (gotta love versatility!) and Much Muchier.
