Press Sample of the Tonic Nail Polish
May 2020 Release
Happy Tuesday again! We’re going to be looking at the Tonic Nail Polish May 2020 release tonight!
This set released a little over a week ago, and I had to redo a couple photos – but now I’m ready to post them! One polish was pulled between release and now, so if you had your eyes set on Sweet Dreams, sorry! Apparently the glitters were disintegrating so Lindsey pulled it with a quickness.
We have 3 things going on with this release… sort of 3 releases in one fell swoop. We have the I’m So Fancy base coats, Neon Brights AND the Spring 2020 Collection.
The ones that need a little explanation will be the I’m So Fancy Base Coats… so here it is from Lindsey:
1. Don’t have time for a full manicure but don’t like having “naked” nails? Each Tonic “I’m So Fancy” base coat is a sweet, sheer color that could be worn in one quick & easy coat that dries quickly and doesn’t require top coat so your nails can be ready to go in just a few minutes!
2. Love the color in the bottle? “I’m So fancy” base coats can be built up in several coats to wear as you would a regular polish.
3. Love the look you get with some polish colors when swatched on a white swatch stick but disappointed when you can’t recreate the same color look on your natural human-colored nails? “I’m So Fancy” base coats can create a blank canvas on your nails and can diminish the intensity of Visible Nail Line for semi-sheer nail polish colors.
4. Try using “I’m So Fancy” base coats under glitter and shimmer toppers to create a new look! These base coats are made with the same base formula of the original “French Undies” Tonic base coat!
Got it? Good, let’s get started
Tonic Polish | I’m So Chill
I’m So Chill is a sheer icy blue shimmer base. I used 1 coat for the first 2 photos and 2 coats for the following photos.
Tonic Polish | I’m So Sweet
I’m So Sweet is almost a sheer ivory with pink shimmer. I used 1 coat for the first 2 photos and 2 coats for the last 2 photos.
Tonic Polish | False Alarm
False Alarm is a neon coral creme. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Tonic Polish | Ectoplasm
Ectoplasm is my favorite of the neon brights! This is a yellow leaning neon green creme. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
This is much brighter in person – trust me.
Tonic Polish | La Playa
This shade of blue is my NEMESIS. I can’t get it right. This is a bright cerulean teal cream and it’s much more teal leaning in person whereas my camera is like “Here’s your really blue photos.” Check out more swatches of it. It’s beautiful but a PITA to photograph. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Tonic Polish | Laugh With Me
Laugh With Me is a clear base loaded with matte star glitters in coral, yellow, aqua, periwinkle and white. I used 1 coat over a black creme for the first couple photos – then over each of the neons.
While I didn’t find them impossible to retrieve from the bottle, you may need to do a little swirling of the brush to catch multiple.
Tonic Polish | Waterlily
Waterlily is a pale minty blue with green to pink shifting shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Tonic Polish | Dragonet
Dragonet is a deep denim blue base with coral to orange to yellow to green shifting shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Tonic Polish | What Dreams
What Dreams is a periwinkle blue base with coral to orange to yellow to green shifting shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Tonic Polish | Giddy Up!
Giddy Up! is a muted brick reddish brown creme base loaded with strong blue shimmer and matching iridescent micro flecks. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Tonic Polish | Mystic Moon
Mystic Moon is a soft blurple jelly base loaded with shifty peach to yellow to green shimmer flecks. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Tonic Polish | Fire Heart
Fire Heart is described as a deep blurple jelly with bright pink to green shifting shimmer. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
*DISCLAIMER*
There are rumors that the dye used to make this color may fade over time. Tonic has not personally experienced this, but it may still be a possibility that this color could lighten after you receive it. To help lower the risk of fading store your polish in a cool dark place.
Tonic Nail Polish | May 2020 Release
Okay so my favorites from this are all the darker shifty shimmer shades shown at the end… and Ectoplasm. I just never get tired of the Tonic shimmers. I had zero application issues with any of these shades.
