Fall 2019 Mystery Box

Hello hello! Happy Wednesday! I have the 4th installment of The Polish Palette to share with you tonight, and Tonic Nail Polish and Rogue Lacquer changed things up a bit this time around. This quarter, The Polish Palette has a Fall 2019 Mystery Box for us!

That’s right – it’s all a mystery! Each brand created 2 polishes, but they are bottled in the same round bottles and swatchers all got the silver ‘?’ stickers to place over the labels. Customers won’t find out which was created by which brand until they receive their boxes!

I think this is a fun way of doing it. If you were able to buy them individually, I probably would be a little more iffy about it – however, by the time they are available individually – you’ll know which is from which brand.

Let’s do what I always do with boxes and go over what this is. It’s still fairly new, so someone might stumble on this and want to know.

What is The Polish Palette? It’s a quarterly (not monthly) collaboration box that was created by Tonic Polish and Rogue Lacquer. At the current time it will only be those 2 makers involved. They may invite guests in the future, but for now – it’s their baby. The plan is to keep it quarterly – so 4 boxes a year vs a monthly 12 boxes a year deal.

When The Polish Palette for each quarter goes up, it will be for a discounted price as a set. At a much later date (probably 4-6 months later), the polishes within each box may be available for individual purchase.

Okay so why is it called The Polish Palette? Tonic and Rogue Lacquer are basing each box off a color palette so that each set is cohesive and not just random colors.

Ready to see what this mystery box has for us? This is gonna be hard for me not to type the brand name… but I have to in order to keep up the mystery!

150 Degrees

150 Degrees is a warm taupe crelly base with vibrant red to gold to green shifting shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Fintastic

Fintastic is described as a bright teal green, but it doesn’t seem teal on me. It seems more like a cool, medium green. It also has a nice linear holographic effect, as well as holographic micro shreds to amp it up a bit. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Resting Beach Face

Resting Beach Face is a soft, slightly pink tinged beige crelly with scattered holo, blue to green ultra chameleon flakes, and color shifting rainbow flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Barnacles

Initially I was going to layer this shade over one of the other shades in the box, but I had to show the full range of the flakes over black! Barnacles is a matte topper packed with iridescent flakes that flash green, blue, orange, yellow and copper. I used 1 coat over a black creme.

Personally – I do think I would have been able to guess what brand made what, but I’m not sure if it’s because I saw the labels or because I’ve worked with both brands for so many years. Either way – it’s an awesome box that you’ll enjoy!
