Happy Wednesday! Last night my video of the Boobird 2023 Advent by Bluebird Lacquer went live… but I had to redo a couple photos so that’s going up now. This is a SPOILER post so please be aware before continuing. If you want the box to be a complete surprise – turn back now!
Okay so… details. Bluebird Lacquer is back this year for the Boobird 2023 Advent for Halloween! This contains 13 surprises in it (unless you’re reading this then there is only 1 surprise)
But Lisa, I see 12 items?!
The 13th is a total surprise – even to me. I don’t know if other swatchers got it – but to my knowledge, it’s an all around surprise.
If you missed the video – you can see it here:
I did the full unboxing in the video above and I’ll be doing this post in Day by Day order. There are 7 polishes and 5 hand and body products shown – and the 13th mystery item is a polish – but that’s all I know.
This will be available in 2 different boxes – polish only or the whole shebang. Polish only will be $80 shipped within the US, the whole thing will be $110 shipped within the US. Canada is $15 shipping – and if you are international, email [email protected] and Bluebird will invoice that way with a more exact shipping quote.
This is a preorder so nothing should sell out. It will run for one week (September 15th – September 22nd)
We ready to jump in and take a look? Let’s start with Day 1!
Day One | Once In A Boo Moon
Once In A Boo Moon is a purple leaning grey shattered holo. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Day Two | No More Uglicles Cuticle Balm in Caramel Popcorn Balls
No More Uglicles Cuticle Balm in Caramel Popcorn Balls is a nice cuticle balm that moistens the skin and soaks in easily. These are a staple for my and I keep them at work because I can put a thin layer on, massage in and go right back to handling patient documents without worrying about smudges or greasy prints.
Although Bluebird put Slug Slurpee on my label – it’s actually Caramel Popcorn Balls (misprint) which is a nice blend of sweet caramel and salty buttered popcorn – and this really smells just like it. As a popcorn obsessed person, I have one word:
YUM!
Day Three | Red The Broom
Okay – I have 2 favorite polishes and I don’t know which is at the top – but this is a contender. Read the Broom is a large particle gold to orange to pink to yellow to green shifting shimmer. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Day Four | Zero Thirst Sugar Scrub
Sooo when Lou shipped my package, it took a vacation in Alabama for a few days. I don’t know if that’s what caused the leak – but Lou is aware that mine arrived in this condition and said customer’s orders will have a seal for protection.
Boobird Zero Thirst Sugar Scrub is a really nicely done sugar scrub for rough bits – but I quite like using it at the end of a long swatch session for getting rid of any yucky skin and added a little boost of moisture from the oils within it. My hands are super soft because of this.
Cinnamon Broomstick is a blend of cinnamon, cardamom, orange peel, with notes of black tea and sweet vanilla.
My nose does primarily pick up the cinnamon and cardamom and black tea. The orange peel and sweet vanilla are very distant players in the game, but still detectable
Day Five | The First Rule of Fright Club
The First Rule of Fright Club is a deep, cool toned violet jelly packed with green to purple to blue shifting micro flakes, and blue to purple shifting metallic flakes. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
I typically do 3 coats for a finish like this – but I was happy with the opacity and depth i got in just 2 coats.
Day Six | No More Uglicles Cuticle Oil
I love mini items so this mini cuticle oil (a little goes a long way so even this mini will last a good bit) made me go “awww”
The scent is Crab Apples and it’s a blend of tart apples mixed with hints of cranberry and currants. It has a nice mix of sweet, tart and fruity.
Day Seven | Bark Side Of The Moon
Bark Side Of The Moon is the other polish fighting for first place on my list. I really can’t choose between this and Read the Broom.
Bark Side Of The Moon is an army green crelly base with strong red to orange to green to yellow shifting aurora shimmer. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Day Eight | Zero Thirst Beak Balm
Zero Thirst Beak Balm in Slug Slurpee (this is where Slug Slurpee that was printed on my Cuticle Balm came from) is a nice, fairly thick consistency lip balm. It glides on easy and leaves a really nice layer that softens lips up.
The scent is Slug Slurpee, and it’s a sweet raspberry slushy mixed with rock candy.
This lip balm is scented but not flavored.
Day Nine | I Lycan’t Even
I Lycan’t Even is a vibrant, cool toned grape jelly base with scattered pink and blue sparkle, as well as scattered holo. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
This left a slight purple tinge to my gel nails – so fair warning. I do find what stains gels and natural nails can be different though, so I put on 1 natural nail on my right hand for about an hour, and no staining. So if you wear gels – heads up!
Day Ten | Just A Phase
Just A Phase is a deep grey crelly base loaded with magenta to orange to gold shifting aurora shimmer. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Day Eleven | Zero Thirst Whipped Body Butter
Zero Thirst Whipped Body Butter is a nice, slightly thick consistency body butter and it’s incredibly moisturizing.
This one is red licorice straight off the vine. My nose picks up a sweet almost floral scent – which is odd and might just be how my nose interprets the scent blend.
Side story: When I was 18 (about 24 years ago?) I was on a balcony that collapsed and fell 3 stories onto concrete steps. I shattered my right heel, embedded my tibia into my ankle and fractured my L1 vertebrae. My right foot/ankle had surgery to put in a Y shaped titanium plate and 18 screws and I have a fairly long scar from it that runs from mid ankle down to the heel and halfway down the side of my foot.
The scar gets very tight and itchy during the Summer and Winter and when it’s bothering me – I apply a thick layer of this stuff to it and put a thick sock on to let it soak in. It always does the trick in soothing my scar area and keep it nice and moisturized.
Day Twelve | Dressed To The Canines
Dressed To The Canines is an oxblood red jelly base loaded with black reflective and red reflective glitter. I used 2 coats, a coat of glitter smoother and top coat for these photos.
SPOILER ALERT | Boobird 2023 Advent | Bluebird Lacquer
Again – there is an additional polish that is the #13 for the full advent (#8 if you buy the Polish Only Advent!) so either way you get the additional polish surprise. Every single polish in here I will use, as well as each nail and body product. My favorites though – Read the Broom is tied with Bark Side on the Moon, and I love the Zero Thirst Body Butter – especially since we’re getting into chillier seasons.
Available for Preorder: September 15th at 5pm Eastern (4pm Central, 2pm Pacific) until September 22nd
Where To Buy: Bluebird Lacquer Shop
Price: $110 Full Advent | $80 Polish Only Advent (both prices shipped in US) | Canada Shipping: $15 | All other International Shipping – email [email protected]

What do you think? Will you be picking up the full advent or the polish only?

I’d like to get the full box, but I’m allergic/sensitive to so many scents. I actually skipped all the way through this blog because I didn’t want spoilers, but that also means I didn’t get to see what the scents are. So, now I’m torn about looking/not looking. I may get the full box anyway and can gift anything I can’t use.
So, an update – I did get the full box, and I’m very glad I did. I think I can use all of the body products. So far just smelling all of them hasn’t been an issue. We’ll see what happens when I use them. But, again, very glad I got the whole box. So many pretty polishes. I’m not sure which is my favorite – The First Rule of Fright Club or Dressed to the Canines or the surprise 13th The Sun’ll Come Out Tomb-orrow. Thanks for doing this blog. I really like having the descriptions and pictures right there together.
