Salon Perfect Summer 2016 Neon POP! Collection is one I  have been looking forward to. Photographing them can be a pain, but I always like the shades released (or rereleased) and this year is no different.

I have 8 of the shades releasing this year to share with you. I’m not sure if there will be more – but there are some that are generally included in the collection like Traffic Cone and Yowza Yellow. I don’t have an actual press release to verify with, but I would assume those will be available as well.

One thing you might have already spotted – new Salon Perfect logo! The bottle itself is still the same shape, and the brush is the same – but the logo is changed up a bit. I like it!

Ok, so let’s jump in. I’ve been seeing a lot of traffic lately to my blog for Salon Perfect Neon POP! so I’m guessing people are googling looking to see what Salon Perfect has in store this year. Figured I should get my butt in gear and get these posted.

Mer-Made of Money

Mer-Made of Money was one of my favorites last year, and it’s still a favorite. This is a bright, borderline neon aqua teal creme.This applies like a typical pastel or neon creme tends to – it’s a bit patchy on the first 2 coats but the third coat evened it out. I used 3 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

One thing I noticed with Mer-Made of Money as well as 2 other shades in this set – when I first started applying, there was a gritty like texture on my brush. When I applied I saw it on the nail as well. Very small lumps that I am assuming are pigment or something? It wasn’t in my bottle from last year. I removed my first attempt when I saw them – but then on my second attempt, they were gone. I’m not sure what caused it – but it wasn’t throughout the bottle. It only seemed to be sitting at the top I guess? Either way – it was in 3 bottles I received, but went away (which is why I think it was something sitting at the top of the bottle) – so if you receive a bottle like I did, wipe your brush off a couple times and try again.

Honeydew, Honey Don’t

Honeydew, Honey Don’t is a bright chartreuse creme. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Like Mer-Made of Money, I had typical application issues and the first 2 coats were patchy, the 3rd coat evened everything out. But I also had the weird issue that something seemed to be on the brush or at the top of the bottle, but again – it went away once I wiped it all off.

Purple POP!

Purple POP! is a vibrant bright lilac purple. I used 3 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Same as with Mer-made of Money and Honeydew, Honey Don’t – I had some patchiness on the first 2 coats, 3rd coat smoothed it out. This was also the third and final shade with something at the top of the bottle or on the brush and I had to wipe it off. Once that was done, it applied without bumps.

Wrapped Around My Pink-y

Wrapped Around My Pink-y is a neon pink jelly. I feel like this formula might have changed, and I have to pull out old bottles to double check. I found the color itself to be lighter (but still bright) and the formula wasn’t as sheer as I remember it being. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Tropicool Punch

Tropicool Punch is a neon pink leaning red jelly. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. It’s a bit pinker in person.

Violets Are Blue

Violets Are Blue is the darkest shade in the set. It’s actually darker than my photo shows (my camera likes to brighten up blues like this, but darken neons… figures) This is actually a borderline blurple creme. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

You will see air bubbles in my photos. Those are NOT the Salon Perfect shade – I was at the end of my top coat bottle. I did these swatches around 2am this morning and did not notice until I was cropping photos at 9am over morning coffee.

Let’s Not Coral

Let’s Not Coral is a neon coral with pink shimmer. It’s a little pinker in person than my photos. This shade freaked my camera out. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This shade dries down to a matte finish (some neons do that) so you can wear it as a matte, or add top coat for a glossy look.

Back To The Fuchsia

I saved my favorite for last. Well tied favorite I guess. Mer-made of Money is also a big favorite for me.

Back To The Fuchsia is a neon fuchsia creme with blue and pink shimmer mixed in. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This shade also dries down to a matte finish, so you can leave it as is or slap on a top coat for a glossy look like I did!

Salon Perfect Summer 2016 Neon POP! Collection

I look forward to the Salon Perfect Neon POP! collection every year. I do like the neons they bring out, and for the most part, I have minimal issues (aside from TYPICAL neon issues… creme neons generally got on a little streaky for the first coat or 2) and this year they were actually pretty decent. The only thing I found really odd was that 3 of the shades – Mer-Made of Money, Honeydew Honey Don’t and Purple POP! all had little gritty bumps when I first applied, but it wasn’t throughout the bottle. Once i wiped the brushes, they completely went away. I’ve reviewed Mer-Made of Money and Purple POP! before (I think Honeydew, Honey Don’t is brand new) and they didn’t have that issue last year.

All 8 colors are really pretty and I can see myself wearing them multiple times. Honeydew, Honey Don’t isn’t really “up my alley” as far as color goes, but the other 7 are for sure.

I would think we are going to be seeing some of the classic Salon Perfect Neon POP! collection colors mixed in with these shades (unless I am really behind and they were made part of the core Salon Perfect collection?) If they are, you can also keep an eye out for Loopy Lime, Yowza Yellow, Traffic Cone, Oh Snap!, Flamingo Flair, Haute Pink and Bermuda Baby. I’m not sure if Copacabana Girl will be back, I think it was new to the lineup last year. I personally loved that shade – so I do hope it’s back cause my bottle is running low.

As always, you can also pick up Sugar Cube from Salon Perfect as well – which some like to use under neons to really make them POP (like the jelly shades that are thinner) and top them off with Salon Perfect top coat.
