Prescriptives Custom Blend Foundation Review

Today’s post is a little different than usual.  It’s not just a review on a product, but also on the service used to create the product.

Prescriptives has a Custom Blend Foundation Service is an online service and you have a virtual appointment with a Prescriptives Beauty Genius in order to create a foundation that is blended to perfectly match your particular skin tone/undertones so it looks seamless.

If you have trouble finding a foundation to match your skin tone, this is PERFECT for you!

To start the appointment, my Beauty Genius (Bobby was AMAZING!) needed a photo of me without makeup that was taken in natural lighting.  During the appointment (it was a video chat!) my Beauty Genius asked some questions to get a feel for what I want in a foundation.  Did I want a dewy complexion or matte?  Somewhere in between?  What kind of coverage was I looking for?  What kind of skin issues do I deal with?  Things of that nature.

The entire appointment took 10 minutes.  Bobby was incredibly patient with me while I explained my skin issues and what I want.  We even had some laughs!  It was a very easy and comfortable experience.

Once my Custom Blend Foundation was created I received an email letting me know what my custom blend ID was as well as all of the features I included in it.  I selected:

Medium Coverage

Matte Finish

Oil Control

Pore Minimizing

Firm and Lift

This Custom Blend Foundation formula is now saved in my Prescriptives profile online so when I want to reorder, I just log in and reorder my own personal blend!  If I want to change something up, I can set up a new appointment and that blend will then save in my profile as well.  This is perfect for those who swap foundations with the season.

How was the product?

A perfect match!  Below I did a simple swatch on my inner arm to show the foundation and then how it looks blended in, it’s PERFECT for my skintone.  I really didn’t expect it to be this close of a match.

I was so happy to receive my foundation and I have been using it for the past month.  Coverage is perfect.  I get decent coverage without the foundation feeling too thick on my skin.  It’s lightweight, blends in perfectly and my skin looks flawless in it.  After a month of use, I still actually have more than half a bottle left (a little goes a LONG way!) and my skin isn’t breaking out or getting irritated by the custom formula.

Overall, the experience and the product are both fabulous.  I have my custom blend ID code saved in my Prescriptives profile and will definitely reorder when I am low.

I really love how I was able to tell Bobby (my Beauty Genius) what I WANTED in a foundation and I got just that.  Usually I have several foundations on hand and switch them up depending on how my skin is acting that day.  No more!  I have everything I want in one sleek glass bottle.

I usually do powder over liquid foundation (which they also do!) so I think that will be my next step with Prescriptives.
