Can you believe there is only 1 more month left after this for Polish Pickup in 2021? If feels like we just did December 2020’s post and here we are with the Polish Pickup November 2021 Game Night themed post!
Also, I’m really early for this post… and I’m currently on vacation from work. And by “vacation” I mean I’ve been there for a year and just found out I had a week of vacation time to use before my 1 year there on November 9th, so I’m staying home and sleeping in and dropping Jacob off at school in my jammies and unruly hair.
So for my vacation, I’ll be swatching and prepping the next blog sale because… my polish drawers overfloweth.
I do still have more items on the way due to USPS playing with all of our emotions. Currently though, I have 74 items ready to go, so we’re moving forward and I will add in the new arrivals as they show up (which I can do this week lickity split)
Okay onto the post. This month the theme is Game Night. It. Finally. Won. The. Vote. This was a long time coming. Game Night can be board games, card games, video games, shows/movies with game in the title, game snacks, gamer related phrases and … stuff. Just anything game related or loosely interpreted as.
For the fine details – for all photos shown – I used Vapid Lacquer Commitment Issues Peel Off Base, and for the glossy photos I did use a combination of the top coats including Vibrant Vinyls which was sent as PR this month, and Night Owl Lacquer’s Patience Not Required. For all matte swatches I used Night Owl Lacquer Gone Matte. I purchased the Vapid Lacquer Commitment Issues and the top coats were sent as pr or as gifts.
I do use artificial lighting for my photos. I work during the day and weekend afternoons I’m with Nick and Jacob, so I do most swatching when the sun is setting or gone. My current setup uses GlamCor Pro LIghts and I use the Ultra X Model and this Daylight Company Duo Daylight Lamp (affiliate link).
The November shop will be open from November 5th until November 8th this month.

Please keep in mind that USPS has slowed shipments for the holiday season, and we are seeing delays across the board. While PPU does try to get packages out in a timely manner, some packages coming TO headquarters might be delayed arriving, therefore they will be delayed getting out. Please be aware that you might wait up to 2 weeks for your package to go from HQ in Minnesota to your home. Anchor & Heart Lacquer | Siren’s Cure Cuticle Crème
Inspiration:
Description: Siren’s Cure Cuticle Crème is a lightweight cuticle cream that feels almost whipped like and has a little bounce. It was formulated to promote cuticle healing and nail growth. It contains 75% organic ingredients such as aloe leaf juice, coconut oil, neem seed oil, jojoba oil, and white willow bark extract.
Siren’s Cure soaks in quickly and leaves a non greasy feel behind. A little goes a long way too! While it is a cuticle cream, I actually do sometimes use a dab as a hand lotion.
This is a vegan, bees wax-free product and therefore should not be left in direct heat (hot cars, near heaters, etc) as it could compromise the formula.
Scent Description: Woolen Blankets is a warm and sensual scent featuring aromatic rosewood and cedar over a rich blend of spicy clove, vetiver, and dark amber. Perfect for snuggling up in a warm blanket on a cold winter’s night.
My nose actually picks up the cedar and amber more than anything. It is a warm, comforting scent.I do love the light, woodsy tone of it as well since I expected an almost spicy scent.

Inspiration: Inspired by one of the first educational computer games created for schools (millennials know!) – The Oregon Trail! Anyone who has played remembers that there are a number of ways to “die” in this game: cholera, broken leg, snake bite – but dysentery was definitely the most iconic and can still be found in memes, on t-shirts, etc!
Description: You Have Died of Dysentery is a grey holographic base with multichrome shimmer that shifts gold to orange to pink to purple with pops of iridescent flakes that shift lime green to copper to blue. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Even though the holo dulls, I really love this polish matte.

Aurora 5 Free Nail Lacquer | Don’t Make A Girl A Promise You Can’t Keep (Glow In The Dark)
Inspiration: Cortana from the Halo video game series
Description: Don’t Make a Girl a Promise You Can’t Keep is a deep shifty blurple polish with geometric sparkle that also glows blue in the dark. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
The “purple” part of the blurple is more in the base, but it’s more apparent in person. It almost looks like a purple jelly base loaded with a stunning shimmery sparkle to create the blurple effect. For the glow in the dark “charge” i did use a UV Flashlight since I swatch at night.
Glow in the Dark pigment is heavy, before applying – shake shake shake it up to distribute that pigment throughout the polish.

Description: Myst is a clear based topper with a bright blue shimmer pigment and gold to lime shifting iridescent flakies (over darker colors). Over white it will show the opposite effect, gold shimmer and blue flakies. I did a skittles mani for this and show it over 4 shades (from pinky to index): Night Owl Lacquer Harvest (pr), Maniology Boys Tears, Vapid Lacquer Pessimist (pr) and Fancy Gloss Got Milk?

Baroness X | Xpress Drying Spray in Lemon Blossom & Sea Mist
Inspiration: Inspired by the video game Myst.
Description: Xpress Drying Spray is a fine mist that you spray over your finished mani to help speed out the outer layer dry time. You can only use this on the final layer of polish.
This product contains ingredients that bond with the solvents in nail polish to help them evaporate faster, namely disiloxane. This is the ingredient that evaporates and bonds with solvents the fastest of all the silicones in drying products. Drying products that do not contain this ingredient, won’t dry your nails nearly as quickly as Xpress Drying Spray. Baroness X also added camellia and jojoba oil to help hydrate skin and cuticles at the same time as drying.
Xpress Drying Spray is scented in Lemon Blossom & Sea Mist. It’s described as the sweet scent of the ocean breeze with a beautifully balanced medley of dune grass, lemon blossom, and key lime.
This is a light, fresh and clean scent that is really pleasant. I wouldn’t mind having a hair perfume in this scent.

The shapes are heavier and do fall to the bottom a bit. I put the bottle upside down before apply to get them to the top a bit, and I did do a little fishing to grab more shapes.

Inspiration: The boardgame Splendor
Description: Remember Purifire that came out in PPU a few months ago from DRK Nails? Basically Katia took that shimmery element and made it a stand alone shade that can be solo or a topper. I show it as both.
Splendor is a clear base packed with iridescent shifty powder mix that flashes red to gold to green at extreme angles. I used 3 thin coats alone on the index and pinky, and I used 1 coat over Maniology Boys Tears.

Fox Fire Wax & Bath Co. | Clip On Crystal Skull Car Diffuser
Inspiration: Inspired by playing games outside in the fall, in the leaves, in the dark. That makes for spooky times as a kid, especially when the sun starts to go down earlier each day.
Description: First off – there is a plastic piece that comes with it to make it a clip on for the car vent… however, as I opened it up that piece jumped out and landed in one of my 6 polish bins and I have been unable to locate it. I am happy to report that it also doubles as an incredible desk scent diffuser as well.
This clip-on glass skull liquid car freshener/wood & reed diffuser is scented Leaves. It’s described as: fruit notes combine with enchanting spices to capture the magical essence of autumn leaves.
Notes:
Top – green stem, lemon, cedar Leaf
Middle – pine, spiced fruit, floral melange
Bottom – earthy musk undertones
My nose mainly picks up the spice fruit! I smell spiced apple cider with mild earthy musk.
The liquid inside will soak into the wood lasting up to 60 days depending on temps etc. (Refills will be available on the Baroness X site.)
When you receive this, unscrew the wooden cap and remove the plastic stopper under the lid. If using the clip on, place the white metal clip over the screw top, hold it in place and then replace the wood cap by screwing it back on. This will hold the clip in place. Insert the wooden stick in the hole at the top of the wooden cap, then clip to your vehicle vent, or use at your desk as a mini diffuser.

Glisten & Glow | Glitter Grabber
Inspiration:
Description: Glitter Grabber is a “cushion” between textured polishes and top coat. It fills in all the nooks and crannies so you can apply top coat and have a smooth, glassy finish. Most of the time if you just use 2 coats of top coat – super textured polishes will still get little “sink holes”, but with Glitter Grabber you still get that smooth finish.
Always top it all off with your favorite glossy top coat. Glitter Grabber is not meant to be a standalone top coat, so it requires another top coat of your choice over it.

This is very flake and glitter packed, so it may become thicker with use. It’s perfectly fine to add a few drops of thinner if needed for preference.

Heather’s Hues | WiTs Lotion in Gumdrop Mountains
Inspiration: Candy Land
Description: WiTs body lotion is a fast absorbing body lotion that doesn’t leave my hands greasy. The texture is light and creamy and a little goes a long way.
The November scent is Gumdrop Mountains. “Gumdrop Mountains” is a blend of sparkling sugared berries with pink cotton candy, hints strawberry and raspberry, and a base of sugared plum.
This is a sweeter scent, but not sickeningly sweet. The sweet berries is the most powerful note for me, but the sugared fruits and cotton candy are perfectly balanced for a nice, sweet blend that doesn’t make your teeth hurt sniffing it.
And fair warning – this item usually is one of the first to sell out – so grab it immediately if you want it.

Lemming Lacquer | Voidwalker
Inspiration: Inspired by Voidwalkers. Voidwalkers are a race of creatures from Dungeons & Dragons. Descended from a guild of assassins, Voidwalkers worked in secret to concoct the ultimate invisibility spell. They succeeded but the ritual altered their biology to make them permanently invisible. When dealing with non-voidwalkers they tend to carry a variety of masks and wear lots of heavy clothing. Aside from being invisible Voidwalkers are masters of disguise and are able to cast spells without using a verbal component allowing them to cast spells without breaking stealth or when affected by silence.

Luna Wax | Crit! Wax Melts
Inspiration: inspired by Dungeons and Dragons.
Description: Wax melts in Dragons and Dice shapes scented berries, pineapple, kiwi, passion fruit, mango and an effervescence from soda.
I mostly caught the berries and effervescence for this one, but you can detect the tart pineapple a bit. This is a bright, fruity scent that is on the sweet side.

Inspiration: Inspired by Scrabble and Tetris, both analog and digital, are vintage even if the makers are still printing them and maintaining their web domain! Scrabble and tetris are beloved classics that stand the test of time. Tetris may not be Call of Duty but can you get away with playing COD under your desk at school? Probably not but you can get away with playing tetris under your desk which makes tetris as relatable as having math class. There may be new digital versions of Scrabble out but nothing beats the class wooden tiles and cardboard gameboard.

I accidentally discovered this is a surprise magnetic. It wasn’t supposed to be – but I got the bottle close to a magnet and.. it changed. So I tested it on a nail – and sure enough – it’s magnetic. I let the maker know so.. surprise!
You can wear it either way, so I show it both ways. I used a magnet on my middle and ring and let the pinky and index alone!

Red Eyed Lacquer | Gamer Snacks Da Balm-er
Inspiration: Twinkies!
Description: Da Balm-er is a cross between a balm and body butter. It’s creamy like a body butter but has a more emollient feel like a balm would. It’s an intensive treatment you can use anywhere (I love it on cuticles of course) but a little goes a long way. If you use too much – it will feel very oily (like a balm would) so start with a little and build up if you need more.
The November scent is Gamer Snacks.. and it’s scented in a golden creme filled spongecake that we all know! Definitely a sweet treat and while I can’t eat Twinkies… I sure do love the scent of them

Beautiful selections as always! I really appreciate getting to see the products early so I can check my wishlist against stuff I already own that’s similar. I’m always drawn to the same colors and types of polishes and frequently find I have a polish that’s fairly close! Since I don’t have unlimited financial resources, I really try to allocate those funds to adding new colors and finishes to my collection. Still, you like what you like, right?

I’d even choose the KB Shimmer scrub to try since there’s finally a mint, but I have no idea if medium grit or fine grit is better, so it’s not worth getting the wrong one.
