July 2020 | Rewind For Maker’s Shops

Here we are again with my final Polish Pickup July 2020 Rewind post, and this time we are going to look at offerings I have previously reviewed for the maker’s shops.

There will be less reviews highlighted in this post because non polish items are not exclusive to the Polish Pickup shop. So several items you have seen like Acetone Antidote, waxes, jewelry, cosmetics, etc can be found throughout the year in the various shops. Only polish items are actually exclusive. Have a non polish item you love or missed out on? Contact the maker and find out if they will bring it back at all. If they have the supplies, you may be in luck! It’s not a guarantee, but you can always email them and ask.

Since this post will focus on the polish, and there isn’t one clear cut spot to grab them, I will be diving back into old reviews to find my notes about each one. If the makers have any specials I know about, I will also include those. Some will have a percentage off sales, others will have reduced shipping. Please keep in mind that not all could offer a discount.

There are also a few stockists that are hosting for some brands. Within each review I will try to add a link for where you can find a particular polish and the date range they will be available, as well as any discount they might be offering. I can only do this for brands that offered up this information. I honestly don’t have the time to chase down each maker to find out, however – if you head to their fan groups – you can probably find the information for the polishes you are interested in.

77 Nail Lacquer | 13 Steps To Hell

Inspiration: Maltby’s 13 Steps To Hell (October 2019 – Urban Legends)

Description: 13 Steps to Hell is a blue based multichrome that shifts from blue to green to purple with large particle shimmer that shifts from red to orange to yellow with a touch of iridescent rainbow microglitter. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Alchemy Lacquers | Tridacna Maxima

Inspiration: The maxima clam (February 2020 – Flora & Fauna)

Description: Tridacna Maxima is a royal blue jelly base with multi-sized silver holographic glitter and a pink to orange to gold to green shimmer with a scattered linear holographic finish. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

The blue base is deeper in person. Since it’s jelly, the light passing through the polish lightened the color a bit.

All Mixed Up Lacquer | Hubba Bubba Baby

Inspiration: Inspired by Hubba Bubba Bubble Tape (May 2020 – Candy Land)

Description: Hubba Bubba Baby is a bright corally pink jelly base with unicorn pigment shifting from green to pink, as well as iridescent crystal flakes that spark gold, pink, lavender, and aqua. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Alter Ego | Magical Amber (Thermal)

Inspiration:” Amber Boosts optimism, facilitates self-expression, attracts friends and helps to find partner in life, brings victory. Amber bead on a red thread repels witches and malicious spirits. It was believed in the old days that there is no such ailment the Amber would not heal. The Amber was taken internally to help with metabolism deficiencies, hearing problems, and stomach ailments. In Poland the Amber tincture is still considered an effective remedy for colds, throat and respiratory problems. The Amber powder is inhaled to bring relief from acute respiratory disease. Amber pieces are given to babies to chew when they have their first teeth appear. How to explain Amber’s healing powers? It turns out that Amber contains up to 8 weight percent of the amber acid, which has vitamin-like properties. By enhancing endocellular metabolism, the amber acid brings about general improvement of body condition, slows down ageing processes, and normalizes cardiac blood circulation. Protects from evil spells and an evil eye. Amber always was considered an anti-demonic amulet. Aurora | Once More the Sith Will Rule the Galaxy

Inspiration: Sith Alchemy from Star Wars (September 2019 – Magic & Alchemy)

Description: Once More the Sith Will Rule the Galaxy is a deep blue multichrome magnetic polish based on sith alchemy, which was dark side technique used to create dark illusions. I did use an arc magnet for this mani, so the magnetic shimmer was repelled from the center of the nail vs drawn in. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Baby Girl Lacquer | Remember the Time?!

Inspiration: Inspired by Queen Nefertiti (March 2020 – Ancient History)

Description: Remember The Time?! is a creamy cappuccino brown crelly base with a mix of ultrachrome chameleon color shifting flakes. They flash orange, bronze, magenta,blue, brown and gold. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This shade pulls very warm on me, it’s actually a paler, cooler shade.

Baroness X | Dark Side of Oz (Tri-Thermal)

Inspiration: the urban legend that says if you play Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon” album while watching “The Wizard of Oz,” there’s an incredible synchronicity. (October 2019 – Urban Legends)

Description:  Dark Side Of Oz is a deep forest green (cold) tri-thermal that shifts to a medium green (warm) and then a lighter celery green color (hot), with holo micro flecks throughout and a rainbow of iridescent flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Inspiration: Inspired by Strawberry and grape nerds candy (May 2020 – Candy Land)

Description: Lovable Nerds is a medium purple crelly base filled with white & neon pink hex glitters. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. I had no issue getting glitters out and did not have to fish for them.

Description: Life Finds A Way is a a murky, deep muddy brown base with a shifting microflake shimmer of green-teal-blue and purple at the far edges and extreme angles. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Description: Balloon Dog is a metallic multichrome brunt orange to deep red with iridescent orange flakes within. I used 3 thin coats for these photos.

In person you will see more of the burnt orange shift, but on me and with my lighting, the deep red wanted to come out to play a bit more.

Inspiration: Inspired by Tropical Birds (February 2020 – Flora & Fauna)

Description: The Power Couple duo includes Mic Drop Base Coat and Limitless Quick Dry Top Coat. The scent is Hawaiian Punch, which smells almost exactly like the bright red drink. As soon as you smell it, it will remind you of it, I promise!

Mic Drop Base Coat is a 5 Free base that is a ridge filler and sticky bond base coat combined. Limitless Top Coat is a 5 Free quick dry top coat that dries fast and can be used with nail art if you float the top coat on.

Fun fact – I was addicted to Hawaiian Punch while I was pregnant – so the scent made me smile. It’s a fruity blend of pineapple, papaya, guava, orange, apple, apricot, passion fruit, and cherries. Super sugary sweet.

Inspiration: Inspired by the historical event of Oct 24th 79AD when the sleepy little beachfront resort towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum were tortured by a vindictive god in the form of a violent volcano eruption. Mt Vesuvius spewed ash and embers entombing the towns; solidifying its place in the annals of time. (March 2020 – Ancient History)

Description: Embers of Vesuvius is a slight vampy red when cold to bright fiery red when warm, and is loaded with gold to copper to red shimmer, as well as iridescent flakes in red, copper, green and gold. It glows a reddish orange in the dark too! I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Inspiration:  The Buried Moon – Once upon a time, the Carland was filled with bogs. When the moon shone, it was as safe to walk in as by day, but when she did not, evil things, such as bogies, came out. (November 2019 – Fairy Tales)

Description: The Buried Moon is a blackened plum crelly base filled with gold to copper to green color shifting crystal chameleon flakes and aqua crystal flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Pahlish | Petrichor

Inspiration:  “Pahlish HQ is just barely in a flood zone, which means that any time it downpours we end up with several feet of water in our parking lot. The first time this happened we lost our car, the next time I was ready and caught this really eerie picture!”  (June 2019 – Weather)

Description: Petrichor is a heavily green leaning turquoise jelly base with holographic flakes and pigments, as well as a mix of red to copper to green shifting multichrome pigments. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

In brighter lighting the green really comes out bold, but in more shaded lighting the turquoise comes out a lot more.

Inspiration: This polish name and inspiration, DILLWEED, were suggested to me by a coworker and it made me laugh…and that’s all it took. (February 2020 – Flora & Fauna)

DILLWEED is a sage green/grey crellie filled with multichrome flakies and golden flakies.  I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

I recently received this and did not review it initially in it’s launching month. I believe it was from April 2020 – Aquatic Wonder based on the name.

Sassy Pants Polish | Hodag of Rhinelander

Inspiration:  the Wisconsin urban legend … In 1893, newspapers reported the discovery a beast with “the head of a frog, the grinning face of a giant elephant, thick short legs set off by huge claws, the back of a dinosaur, and a long tail with spears at the end”. It’s become a local legend and mascot to the city. (October 2019 – Urban Legends)

Inspiration: Songspire Trees from the Altered Carbon series (February 2020 – Flora & Fauna)

Description: Songspire Tree is a deep chocolate brown jelly base with turquoise and blue shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Compared to the original, the base color changed and is a dusty, greyish brown jelly instead of chocolate brown.

Inspiration: During the winter months, we usually rush to cover our plants to keep them from freezing over. Hellebores actually love the cold and thrive during the winter months. They start blooming around December, and continue through mid-Spring. However, hellebores are categorized as perennials and evergreen. Meaning, that they last for what seems an infinite amount of time, and they retain their green leaves year round. (December 2019 – Winter Is Coming)

Description: Unbeleafably Evergreen is a sheer golden green base with flakes that shift shifts from lime-blue-gold, violet-blue-green, and red-copper-gold-green. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Vapid Lacquer | Pestilence

Inspiration: We have taken inspiration from the bubonic plague pandemic from the Late Middle Ages (1340-1400). It ravished England, killing a third of the population, sparking violence and crime. Also taking its toll on Mongolia with a huge outbreak in 1330. (March 2020 – Ancient History)

What Addiction? | Un-Belize-Able

Inspiration: Inspired by The Great Blue Hole (April 2020 – Aquatic Wonder)

Description: Un-Belize-Able is a sheer teal jelly base with color shifting pigment, micro holo flakes, micro green holo glitter, aqua-green chameleon flakes and metallic blue flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Some of the blue flakes were almost bent (not curled) so they stuck up a little (maybe 3 did it?) so I used a cuticle pusher to push it back down, or tweezers to just pick it off. It wasn’t a huge deal and easy to remove, but I wanted to mention it.

Description: Maleficent Drink is an electric purple crelly base with small red hex glitters. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This color freaked out my camera and pulled some extra blue tones. It’s more like the color in the bottle than my nails. It’s nice and bright!

I am officially DONE for July 2020!

The links and info I have here may not be 100% accurate. If you are really interested in something, I do encourage you to poke around or straight out ask the maker about the dates. It’s been a crazy busy month for me, so I simply didn’t have the time to dig in and do a ton of research.
