Happy Sunday (possibly Monday when this goes live… depends on how many distractions I have) and the blizzard here has passed, so I can post without the worry of losing power (and my work.) Here’s a look at the Polish Pickup February 2022 shop, and the theme is 90’s TV!
Right now I have 71 items to share – but I am still expecting some. They were supposed to arrive yesterday – but the blizzard delayed mail delivery, so hopefully they will be here tomorrow.
For the fine details – for all photos shown – I used Vapid Lacquer Commitment Issues Peel Off Base, and for the glossy photos I did use a combination of the top coats including Vibrant Vinyls which was sent as PR this month, and Night Owl Lacquer’s Patience Not Required, as well as Anchor & Heart Sea Glass. I purchased the Vapid Lacquer Commitment Issues and the top coats were sent as pr or as gifts.
I do use artificial lighting for my photos. I work during the day and weekend afternoons I’m with Nick and Jacob, so I do most swatching when the sun is setting or gone. My current setup uses GlamCor Pro LIghts and I use the Ultra X Model and this Daylight Company Duo Daylight Lamp (affiliate link).
My nails are not my natural nails – I’m using ENailCouture Full Coverage Gel Nail Tips in Active Almond shape.
Wishlisting opened today – so lets jump on in and take a look.

Anchor & Heart Lacquer | Music Television
Inspiration: It was a time of Daria, Road Rules, Celebrity Deathmatch, Loveline and *gasp* MUSIC TELEVISION! So in tribute to my teenage obsession, I pulled inspiration from the various bold and bright MTV logos of the 90’s. I hear you can still watch music videos, but if you can’t do it in 30 minute themed blocks, I don’t want it.

Baroness X | Hydromancy Top Coat
Inspiration: Inspired by the 90’s Liquid Television’s animated shorts on MTV
Description: Hydromancy is one of the top coats offered from Baroness X. This is the glossy top coat that has a gel like appearance and a slightly thicker consistency to kind of go along with that look. It isn’t “stringy” thick though, it still glides on with ease.
The thicker formula makes it really nice for glitters and makes it easy to “float” on for nail art.
This is not a quick dry top coat, however it does dry to the touch (for me) within 8-10 minutes, and fully within about 25.
Price: $9.00 | Cap: 300

Hit the Bottle Polishes | Pigment Kit in Luxe
Inspiration:
Description: This is for a kit that will come with a black sticky stamping polish called Stuck on You, Luxe holo chrome pigment and a dual ended applicator (think eyeshadow applicator)
To use this set you would paint your base color and then apply a matte top coat. Once done, use the black sticky polish (Stuck on You) to stamp your selected design on. Wait 20-30 seconds, then gently apply pigment to stamping with applicator.
The pigment will not stick to the matte portion of nails which makes this a bit easier. Plus this way you can use the pigment without using the method that requires your stamper (which can make it permanently cloudy)
Once done, either use a water based top coat to protect the design, then the top coat of your choice. You can also skip the water based top coat and float your top coat of choice over, but it does run the risk of dulling the holo effect.
I chose to leave the background matte because I liked the look with the rose gold holo chrome pigment.
Price: $14.00 | Cap: 100

KBShimmer | Hand & Body Scrub
Inspiration: Inspired by 90’s Fragrances
Description: KBShimmer’s sugar scrubs are good for all over the body or as a hand scrub, the sugar particles are medium grit so they do a good job getting dry spots on your body situated.
Cucumber Melon was one of the main body spray scents I remember for girls when I was in junior high and high school. I actually didn’t mind the scent – but everyone wore it so I stuck to Victoria Secret Enchanted Apple (I think) and Endless Love instead.
Now you barely smell it around, so I actually love it again (Cucumber Melon) and it doesn’t smell like anyone bathed in it this time around.
Cucumber Melon is a sweet blend of honeydew, watermelon and cucumber. It’s slightly sweet but also has this calming note from the cucumber. As soon as I opened the lid to this body scrub – I remembered the scent without an issue.

Lucky 13 Lacquer | Take Chances, Make Mistakes, Get Messy! (Quad Thermal & Glow In The Dark)
Inspiration: Inspired by The Magic School Bus
Description: Take Chances, Make Mistakes, Get Messy! is a quad thermal that goes orchid pink (hot) to periwinkle (warm) to midnight blue (chilly room temp) to eggplant purple (cold) and has teal to purple color shifting shimmer and gold to green color shifting crystal flakes. This also glows an aqua blue in the dark and comes with a clamshell of space themed silver holo glitters.
Two things:
1. This polish is thick. This is probably due to the thermal pigment, glow in the dark AND flakes all combined in one. I personally don’t mind thick – but for those of you who do – here’s your warning to get that thinner ready. However – this is important – it’s also freezing here (I believe it was 6 degrees out when I did this one) so it could very well have been the temp here that made it thick at this time. I still want to give the heads up so you know what you may experience.
2. I usually do the natural progression of thermals (tips being darker) but … it’s 6 degrees outside and about 60 inside. Natural wasn’t gonna happen. I mostly saw the midnight blue to purple transition (as seen with the glitters below)

Michelle Mildred Art | School TV Bliss Sticker Sheet
Inspiration: Inspired by when the school TV stand rolled into science class, the cheers of joy that filled the room.

This is a high quality matte vinyl sticker sheet that are perfect for your laptop, cellphone, car interior and exterior, water bottles, planners and more. This months were put on my notebook.
The TV? When that bad boy rolled in… you knew it was gonna be a good class. If it’s already in the class when you walk in? There’s a sub or … we got to watch Bill Nye. All the terms like Talk to the Hand, Whatever, etc. Dude was a big one too. Everything was dude. My notebook was dude. My lost pen? Dude. My mom? Dude. It’s not on this sticker sheet – but that was a hard habit to break. I could have done without every guy in existence at my school doing WAZZZUP??! though.

It’s an intensive treatment you can use anywhere (I love it on cuticles of course) but a little goes a long way. If you use too much – it will feel very oily (like a balm would) so start with a little and build up if you need more.

Inspiration: Inspired by the iconic Saturday Night Live character, the Church Lady, played by Dana Carvey. “Well, Isn’t that special?” was her most famous line to say while scrunching up her face to the camera!
Description: Isn’t That Special? Cuticle Scrub is a scrub and balm combined and is super gentle. The sugar buffs away dead skin around the cuticles and nails, while the balm’s oils and butters melt into the skin and soften it at the same time. Simply rub the scrub into nails and cuticles in a circular motion then wash off excess with warm water.
This is a scent mix of ripe mango, papaya, watery melon, blackberry, dark plum, vanilla.
The scent reminds me of the bubblelicious gum that was blue. I think it was blueberry – which isn’t in the scent description – but it just triggered that memory of that particular 90’s gum. It smells amazing.
Price: $8.50 | Cap: None
Treo Lacquer | Some Kind of Prison
Inspiration: Inspired by My So Called Life, specially the quote: “Sometimes it seems like we’re all living in some kind of prison. And the crime is how much we hate ourselves.” I watched this show back in the 90s when I was an angsty teenager and it resonated with me so much. It delivered complexity and depth that I craved and rarely found on TV. It also sparked a huge crush on Claire Danes!
Description: Some Kind of Prison is a vampy maroon jelly base with violet to blue aurora shimmer and red, orange, green ultrachrome flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
If you have a strong VNL, it might show through this polish.
Price: $13.00 | Cap: 160
Unicorn Magic Skincare | Beverly Hills 90210 Deluxe Acetone Additive
Inspiration: Inspired by the 90’s TV show Beverly Hills 90210
Description: The use of acetone can wreak havoc on nails and surrounding skin, leaving those unsightly dry white marks. The use of acetone additive will help diminish the stripping of natural oils from your hands & nails, helping them look healthy and beautiful. Contains skin loving oils such as jojoba & argan oil for maximum benefit.
This acetone additive is in a plastic bottle that you squeeze to dispense. Shake before using, add the desired amount and give the acetone a shake then use.
I do suggest adding a little, testing it to see if it needs more, then add more. I usually add 1/4-1/3 of the 1 ounce bottle to a 10 oz amount of remover (I used zoya remove+)
The February scent is Beverly Hills 90210 – an alluring floral bouquet of gardenia, tuberose, sweet vanilla and exotic musk.
To my nose this is a sweet and slightly musky floral mix. I really get the gardenia coming out which can be powerful, but the sweeter vanilla helps to soften it a bit. You do need to like florals for this one because it packs a punch.
Price: $5.50 | Cap: 150
Unicorn Magic Skincare | Strawberry Glazed Donuts Hand Lotion
Inspiration: Inspired by The Simpsons
Description: Deluxe Triple Butter Hand Lotion is a thick and rich, decadent hand cream, made to sooth, moisturize and protect your delicate skin. Handcrafted with quality ingredients many of which are organic, in small batches.
This stuff is a staple and a little goes a long way! Their hand lotion has helped me through the winter!
The February scent is: Strawberry glazed donuts – the aroma of sweet buttery vanilla batter topped with freshly sliced strawberries.
My nose picks up a strawberry buttercream like scent. My aunt makes a frosting that smells a lot like this with extra bits of fresh strawberry mixed in. It’s divine.
Price: $8.50 | Cap: 200
Vapid Wax | Crimson Glow
Inspiration: Inspired by My So-Called Life
Description: This month’s Vapid Wax scent is a mix of watermelon and cherries. It’s a nice fruity concoction that’s actually on the soothing side. It’s created with the scent of a nostalgic temporary hair color in mind.
My nose picks up a mild blend of watermelon and cherry – but it’s not super fruity somehow. It has a mellow note that I can’t quite place. It’s not vanilla – but it’s along that vein to tone down the tartness of the cherries and strong watermelon vibe.
This wax also has a lot of shimmer in it so the melt effect is beautiful.
Price: $6.00 | Cap: 70
Vibrant Vinyls | All That Scented Double Bond Base Coat
Inspiration: Inspired by Orange Soda
“Who loves orange soda?”
“Kel loves orange soda!”
An ‘All That’ favorite of mine is the skits where Kel is drinking orange soda. He’s absolutely obsessed and this scent smells just like that fizzy orange drink
Description: Double Bond is a ridge filling base coat and sticky base coat in 1. Best of both worlds. I also sometimes like wearing it alone cause it gives a healthy, sheer, milky look to the nails.
The February scent is orange soda, and its a mix of California oranges, Brazilian orange peel, lemon zest, Japanese grapefruit on a vanilla background.
This is a lighter scented product and I can smell the oranges, but it’s not overpowering.
Price: $8.00 | Cap: None
Vibrant Vinyls | All That Scented Fast & Hard Top Coat
Inspiration: Inspired by Orange Soda
“Who loves orange soda?”
“Kel loves orange soda!”
An ‘All That’ favorite of mine is the skits where Kel is drinking orange soda. He’s absolutely obsessed and this scent smells just like that fizzy orange drink
Description: Fast & Hard is a super glossy quick dry top coat that can be applied over wet polish without issue. It also works over stamping, just make sure you float the top coat!
The February scent is orange soda, and its a mix of California oranges, Brazilian orange peel, lemon zest, Japanese grapefruit on a vanilla background.
This is a lighter scented product and I can smell the oranges, but it’s not overpowering.
Price: $8.00 | Cap: None

I’m so excited for Polished for Days Bel-Air! It is fabulous!!!
I need the Penelope luz! It’s so beautiful!
I NEED the cuticula
That cuticula tho
BILL! BILL! BILL! might be a must since it reminds me of a deep navy galaxy polish that finally died on me! :.-/ ;-)
If I ever see a true, nonflaked gunmetal “armor” polish that shifts undertone based on lighting and angle, that’ll be a must. Had one once, but the company is long defunct.
There are so many good ones! But I’m really excited about I Drink Coffee Like A Gilmore (despite being a BtVS fiend), because a good warm brown like that is yummy
Love Kathleen & Co.!
The Rogue and the Cuticula are my favorites this month, because flakies!
I love Kathleen and co this month!
KB Shimmer is a must have.
I need stamping plates – mosaic one is stunning
Bluebird and BNL
Happy anniversary! I’m excited for Cadillaquer this month!
I have to have that Orange Soda topcoat from Vibrant Vinyls! It will be my first one from the brand AND my first scented polish. Because Kel and I BOTH love orange soda ;)
Heather’s Hue’s is also a favorite.
It is so hard to narrow down my wishlist! I keep adding instead. One of my top picks is Hunkules, but all of the reflective glitters are calling me. I also have a question-what is vnl? In that “some kind of prison” you mentioned vnl might show through.
VNL is Visible Nail Line. So when people have more opaque nail tips – some sheerer polishes might show that.
So many gorgeous blues this month–Penélope Luz and Cuticula are musts for me!
I love the Rogue flakie polish :)
Today I’m drawn back to Sassy Sauce Bada Bling! So unusual!
I think I’m going to snag a pair — or two — of the Nail Artisan Cosmetics : Wonders At The Wormhole earrings. They are so cute and would look amazing in my helix piercing and second hole.
I’m dying for the Vanessa Molina “Sabrina” polish! I swooned when I saw the first swatches of that one. You’re also the first swatcher I’ve seen for SHP this month, so thank you for that (plus all of the other gorgeous swatches!) This is a hard month to pare down the wishlist, for sure.
There are so many good ones! The ones that stand out to me most are the ones inspired by Sabrina the Teenage Witch (“She’s a What?” and a purple thermal that I didn’t see here). I’ve never ordered from Polish Pickup before and hope to place my first order tomorrow!
I need the Cadillacquer because my mom used to watch LA Femme Nikita. I also love the pink glitters.
Fancy Gloss Courage!
Always love Zra– and these earrings are adorable!
I NEED colores de carol and spectrum polish
Huncules and Courage are it for me this month.
Cadillacquer is bringing it this month!
Crystal Knockout’s Sugarbaker and Dam Nail Polish’s To the Bus! look amazing! Thank you so much for these awesome swatches!
I always go back and add a few more things to my wishlist everytime I view this!
The Jen & Berries is a must for me this month.
That sparkly Penelope Luz!!!
I’m also super excited for all the reflective polishes that have been appearing lately! I’ve been trying to limit my new purchases to “things I don’t have anything else like” instead of just buying more and more reds (my fav), and reflective polishes fit that bill.
Treo lacquer looks amazing
Dreamland is gorgeous!
So hard to narrow down, but the KB Shimmer is calling to me!
Love Penélope Luz – Stargate. But it is hard to decide, so many beauties!

I absolutely need the Polish Molish this month.
That Cadillacquer is killing me!
My number one must-have product this month is Wildflower Lacquer It’s Showtime!
Hit the Bottle Pigment Kit
My favorite this month is Stargate by Penélope Luz.
There are so many good ones this month! I gave up on trying to make my wishlist shorter. The Penelope Luz polish has my name all over it, though! The Dreamland and Kathleen and Co. are a close second.
I really want to try a polish with the reflective glitters, and Stargate stands out to me the most!
I love the Penelope Luz! This will be my first purchase from her.
Colores de Carol is a must have.
My must have is the Garden Path Lacquers polish! I’ve been looking for a blue glitter in that shade for a while!
Loving Dreamland this month!
Thank you for taking the time to swatch your nails and post this amazing assortment of polishes. I appreciate not having the distraction of various nail shapes and lengths. It is so much easier to focus on the beautiful colors. Now to just decide……
Am really feeling that Penelope Luz!
I didn’t buy anything in January so my wish list is long but I must have Lūmen She Is The Slayer because I need all the Buffy things. And also the 2 foot balms!
I am most excited about The Charmed Ones and Fighting for Love and Passion. Both of those shows were my biggest obsessions in the 90s!
Loving the wax scents!
For me, Fancy Gloss is always a must!
I love the Kathleen & co Charmed one!
