Alice Through The Looking Glass Collection

Tonight I have the OPI Summer Brights 2016 Alice Through The Looking Glass Collection to share with you!

There are some brights in the collection, but I was a little surprised since not all the shades are “brights” that this was the set that OPI went with. They took a different route this year with their Soft Shades as well, but sometimes you gotta go with something a little different.

With this collection OPI is celebrating the May 2016 release of Disney Alice Through The Looking Glass with a new Brights collection inspired by the film’s mad, crazy, wonderful characters and their latest adventures.The story takes Alice back to the whimsical world of Wonderland, where she time travels to save the Mad Hatter,who is not himself.

This collection itself is 8 limited edition shades, but there is also a bonus special edition polish that I will also be showing you.

Let’s take a look at each shade.

OPI The I’s Have It

The I’s Have It is a light powder blue creme. Application was perfect with this shade and I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

OPI Oh My Majesty!

Oh My Majesty! is a beautiful pearly alabaster. The formula was good, but the first coat was a little patchy. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. The polish has an inner glow to it that I really love.

What’s The Hatter With You? is a rich burgundy creme. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

I feel like I’ve seen this color before, I want to say in the San Francisco collection from 2013 and again in the Gwen Stefani Holiday collection maybe? I’d start sifting through bottles, but my son is sleeping and I make a lot of noise.

OPI I’m Gown For Anything!

I’m Gown For Anything is a creamy pastel lilac. I found it applied like a typical pastel, my first 2 coats were a little streaky, but the third evened it all out.

OPI Fearlessly Alice

Fearlessly Alice is a bold cerulean blue creme. Perfect application, gorgeous shade. I used 2 coats and a top coat for these photos.

Fearlessly Alice is my #1 pick from the entire collection BUT I did experience some Smurf nails after, and I only had it on for about 10 minutes. I did have a base coat, but it was a cheaper one I use for some blues, teals and reds for swatching – and it went right through it. I was able to scrub it off and did some light buffing – but just a warning that it might occur for you too.

Will I still wear it? Yes. It’s gorgeous on.

OPI A Mirror Escape

Ohh OPI you tricked me on this one! In the bottle I thought it was a microglittery gold with matte pink microglitters mixed in. When I saw the bottle I thought “YAY!” then I applied it, I thought “NOOO!” The glittery base I thought it was, is actually a gold metallic base and there are matte light pink microglitters inside. I used 3 coats for full coverage and it has a textured look to it (as you can see). If you can finagle 2 coats, the texture isn’t as bad.

Shame on you OPI. I was really excited about a gold and matte light pink microglitter polish.

OPI Having A Big Head Day

Having A Big Head Day is a gorgeous hot red. This color is just flat out sexy. Not unique, I’m sure I have a similar color or 12 in my arsenal, but it’s still a gorgeous, flattering red nonetheless. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

OPI Mad For Madness Sake

Mad For Madness Sake is a medium bright fuchsia pink creme. Not super bright, but on the brighter side. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

OPI What Time Isn’t It?

OPI What Time Isn’t It? is the special edition shade in the collection. It comes in the special packaging below

The polish itself isn’t my thing. I know some love bar glitter, but it’s one of the main glitters I can’t get into for some reason. What Time Isn’t It? is a dark grey crelly like base with silver bar glitters. The description for it says matte black with silver slivers, but my bottle wasn’t matte or black.Application wise it was really nice. Perfect consistency and the bars behaved. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Although bar glitters aren’t my cup of tea, if you like them, you will probably like this polish.

Application wise, pretty much all of these shades were really nicely done. I’m Gown For Anything! was a typical pastel like formula, and Oh My Majesty! had some streaks, but other than that, the rest weren’t too thick or too thin.Fearlessly Alice, although it was my favorite, did stain a bit so be careful of that. Color wise, I still don’t see this as a brights collection. It seemed to have a mix from pastels to darker shades with a couple brights in between. My top picks are The I’s Have It, Oh My Majesty!, Fearlessly Alice and Having A Big Head Day.
