OPI Metamorphosis Collection

Press Samples of the OPI
Metamorphosis Collection

Happy Sunday everyone! I’ve got a lot going on this weekend, but I’m hoping to get a few posts going here. First up we’ll be looking at the OPI Metamorphosis Collection!

This is a limited edition, 6 piece collection of polychromatic glitter particles that shimmer and shift. I’ll be showing all 6 shades over a black creme shade (Vapid Pessimist) but these look really nice over most deeper shades if you want to pair with purple or blue.

We’re going to jump right in and take a look at all 6 shades. Just for reference (and so I don’t repeat it over and over) each photo is 1 coat of Vapid Pessimist and 1 coat of the topper, followed by top coat.

OPI | Butterfly Me To The Moon

OPI Butterfly Me To The Moon is a lighter blue to pink shifting shimmer with some little hints of a light gold. There are also small to medium hex glitters which I wish weren’t in it. The medium hex glitters are curling a bit for me (photo below) and while they aren’t full on tacos, they are lifting on the sides. 1 coat over black with top coat shown.

OPI | This Changes Everything

OPI This Changes Everything is  a medium gold shimmer with small gold hex glitters mixed in. There are hints of aqua blue and silver shifts as well, but of the full collection, this had the most subtle shift and the most densely packed shimmer.
1 coat over black with top coat shown.

OPI | Metamorphically Speaking

OPI Metamorphically Speaking is a lighter gold to silver to sky blue shifting shimmer with small pale gold hex glitters mixed in.
1 coat over black with top coat shown.

OPI | Can’t Be Camouflaged!

OPI Can’t Be Camouflaged! is a pale minty green to gold to light blue shifting shimmer with hints of pale pink. There are also small to medium turquoise hex glitters mixed in.
1 coat over black with top coat shown.

OPI | Ecstatic Prismatic

OPI Ecstatic Prismatic is a light green to pink to gold shifting shimmer with small aqua hex glitters mixed in.
1 coat over black with top coat shown.

OPI | You Little Shade Shifter

OPI You Little Shade Shifter is a medium blue to purple to gold shifting shimmer with blue hex glitters mixed in.
1 coat over black with top coat shown.

Honestly? I like these. I would love them if the glitters weren’t added in and they were just shimmery top coats. A few of them had the glitters starting to curl and it bothered me. Application wise (aside from the curls) they were easy to apply and got beautiful topper coverage in 1 coat. I used them over black, but you could literally use any base for these and they’d probably look really nice.

My Top Picks: Ecstatic Prismatic, Metamorphically Speaking and Can’t Be Camouflaged! Butterfly Me To The Moon would have been in my top 3, but it had the most glitter issues for me, so it got bumped.

Too bad about the curling glitter, but I like Metaphorically Speaking and the last shade.

While beautiful I know that the curling would drive me nuts. I’d be picking at it. I’m glad you showed them all over black so we could really compare them.

Over the black, they look like stars in the galaxy!

OMG super-easy galaxy nails, right there! I’d put up with the curling glitter LOL. I need Butterfly Me To The Moon.
