Summer 2016 Collection

OPI Infinite Shine Summer 2016 Collection is all about the neutrals. Designers like to incorporate neutrals into their looks to give them an edgy look, like skirts and crop tops, and OPI decided to bring that same muted perfection to nails.

OPI Infinite Shine Summer 2016 Main

I do like neutrals. They are great palette cleansers, especially in a sea of neons and brights during the summer months. Like most colors though, some work with my skin tone and some don’t. Some of these shades looked really nice on me, while others gave me lobster hands. I do wish they had some slightly deeper neutrals though.

What is the difference between OPI Infinite Shines and OPI GelColors?  Infinite Shine shades do not require a light system to cure, but the top coat does harden and “cure” overtime in natural lighting. You don’t need to do the soak method to remove either, just normal nail polish remover. Much like gels though, the OPI Infinite Shine line is a 3 step system – primer (base coat), color and then gloss (top coat). They are a bit longer lasting than normal nail lacquer, but not as long lasting as actual gel polishes. I get about 6 days of chip free wear when I use the OPI Infinite Shine shades.

Ok, let’s look at these “foundation” shades that make up the OPI Infinite Shine Summer 2016 collection.

Staying Neutral On This One

Staying Neutral On This One is my favorite of the 6. This is a light pink toned neutral. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

No Stopping Zone

No Stopping Zone

No Stopping Zone is the deepest in the collection. This is a warm toned medium beige. I had difficulty with this formula. It didn’t want to self level and I needed 3 coats for full coverage.

Hurry Up and Wait is a light medium tan. I used 2 coats and top coat for these photos.

No Strings Attached is my other top pick in the collection. This is a light, cool toned neutral. I used 2 coats and top coat for these photos.

OPI Infinite Shine Summer 2016 Collection Overview

OPI Infinite Shine Summer 2016 Overview

This isn’t the most exciting collection, but there are 2 shades I would wear fairly regularly if I’m in need of a neutral. Staying Neutral On This One and No Strings Attached both worked well with my skin tone, but the rest were slightly too warm for me. The only one I had application issues with was No Stopping Zone.

If warm tones work well with your skin care though – several of these shades may be perfect for you.

When you say the gel top coat doesn’t need on of those UV lights to cure, what is the actual name of it? I’m interested in some of the colors that are gel, bit I stay away from those and gel top costs because I don’t want to wreck my natural nails in the removal process lol. Plus I don’t have a light :P So a gel top coat that I don’t have to cure with a light interests me

One of*, top coats*. Ugh, didn’t realize all the typos. Sorry

The top coat is OPI Infinite Shine 3 Gloss Top Coat. It’s comparable to a normal top coat, so it won’t have the super long lasting effect of a normal gel, but it should last a bit longer than a normal top coat. It’s also a lot thinner than people expect (just so you have some warning!) but it is a no soak, no cure top coat – so you won’t need a light!
