Gwen Stefani is back with OPI for the Holiday 2014 Collection! When I first saw the press release for this set, I was really on the fence about it and didn’t see too many colors that were must haves, it looked like the typical splash of reds and some glitters with other shades sprinkled in, but I actually found a few within this group that blew me away.
Some shades you’ll find are classic shades, which is fairly normal if you’ve been collecting polishes for as long as I have been at this point.
Lets take a look at the Holiday 2014 OPI Collection and what shades Gwen Stefani and OPI came up with! I will caution you though, this is a very photo heavy post with 18 polishes and 4 photos per shade, so I apologize if you are loading this on a mobile device.
Christmas Gone Paid
Christmas Gone Paid is the lonely green in the collection. But, this is a great Christmas green! This is a beautiful deep hunter green creme that applied effortlessly in 2 coats.
Cinnamon Sweet
Cinnamon Sweet is a slightly dusty red creme. You will see a lot of reds in this collection, but they are all a little different. I used 2 coats for these photos.
Comet In The Sky
Comet In The Sky is one of 2 glitters that blew me away. In my opinion, OPI stepped up their glitter game this time around. Comet In The Sky is a clear base with black hex glitters in various sizes and various iridescent hex glitters as well. I originally used this over Christmas Gone Paid, but the black glitters didn’t show very well, so I redid it over Just Be-Claus. The darker polishes really make the iridescent glitters pop though.
I used 1 coat of Comet In The Sky for all of these photos.
and here is Comet In The Sky over Christmas Gone Paid
Fashion A Bow
Fashion A Bow is a vibrant orangey red with a jelly like formula. I used 2 coats for these photos.
First Class Desires
First Class Desires is a deep eggplant purple with strong gold shimmer. This looks really close to Zoya Sansa, so I will be doing a comparison post soon. I do think they might be a touch different, but still close. I used 2 coats for these photos.
This looks really dark in some photos, but it’s actually not this dark in person. The last photo in this set is closer to what it looks like in person.
I Carol About You
I Carol About You is a gorgeous purple with a subtle shimmer. I fell in love with this shade as soon as I put it on. I am a sucker for purples though. This one has a special little glow to it thats spectacular. I used 2 coats for these photos.
I’ll Tinsel You In
I’ll Tinsel You In is a clear base with white bar, square and hex glitters and black hex glitters and micro glitters. I used 1 coat over In A Holidaze. The square white glitters were hiding from me and I was only able to grab 1 without having to fish for them.
In A Holidaze
In A Holidaze is a red jelly like shade, much like Fashion A Bow. Probably my favorite red in the set because of it’s classic feel. I used 2 coats for these photos.
Just Be-Claus
Just Be-Claus is a slightly dusty maroon creme. I used 2 coats for these photos.
Kiss Me – Or Elf!
Kiss Me – Or Elf is a beautiful fuchsia creme with shimmer throughout. I used 2 coats for these photos.
Love Is Hot and Coal
Love Is Hot Or Coal isn’t my favorite, but there is something about it I kind of like. Will I wear it again? Doubtful. It’s just not a me shade. This is a dark chocolate brown with strong silver shimmer throughout giving it an almost metallic appearance. I used 2 coats for these photos.
Red Fingers & Mistletoes
Red Fingers & Mistletoes is a red creme with gold shimmer throughout. Very festive! I used 2 coats for these photos.
Rollin’ In Cashmere
Rollin’ In Cashmere is a gold satin shade. Brush strokes are visible, and I’m not sure what I think of it. The color itself is nice, but the finish doesn’t look right on me personally. Not in gold at least. I used 2 coats for these photos.
Sleigh Parking Only
Sleigh Parking Only is a deep, vampy plum. I used 2 coats for these photos. I will be wearing this shade more this Fall because I like vampy shades like this.
Snow Globetrotter
If you are a glitter lover and can only buy ONE polish from this collection, make it this one. Snow Globetrotter didn’t impress me in the bottle, but over I Carol About You, just wow. White hex glitters in various sizes are mixed in a clear base with various sized iridescent hex glitters. Over darker bases this is fabulous. I used 1 coat for these photos.
So Elegant
So Elegant is a clear base with black hex glitters in various sizes, micro black glitters and gunmetal hexes in small and medium sizes. I used 1 coat over Fashion A Bow.
Unfrost My Heart
Unfrost My Heart is a silver foil polish. I used 2 coats for these photos.
What’s Your Point-setta?
What’s Your Pointsetta? is a vibrant red creme. I used 2 coats for these photos.
Overview
While several of these shades are typical of a Holiday collection (reds) there are other shades worth checking out. Comet In The Sky and Snow Globetrotter are tops in my book for this, and it’s nice to see OPI putting out some awesome glitter toppers. I Carol About You, Sleigh Parking Only and First Class Desires were gorgeous as well, but I’m a purple fan, so that may be a little biased. I do like the only green in the set, Christmas Gone Paid, which says a lot because I’m not a green fan.
Formula wise, I had no thick or watery formulas which is fairly impressive for an 18 piece collection. I wasn’t a huge fan of Rollin’ In Cashmere and it was the only brush stroke visible shade.

I wasn’t super impressed with the promos of this collection, but seeing blog posts about them gave me a bit more interest in it, and now that I have my set, I actually think I’ll like them all! Except maybe Rollin in Cashmere :/ I wish they would’ve done a gold chrome like Push & Shove in this one.
Completely agree about Rollin In Cashmere. I wanted to love it, but not as a satin finish :(
This looks like a nice Holiday Collection, there’s too much red for my taste, but there’s definitely some that I want to pick up. I’m loving the purples, green, and all the glitters except for I’ll Tinsel You In!
While red is always a popular holiday shade, sometimes I do wish there were a few less with more greens or blues even. Overall though, they did a pretty good job!
Christmas Gone Paid and First Class Desires are very stunning, though I am very interested to see how that last one compares to Zoya Sansa. Will keep an eye out for your comparison post!
These are beautiful. I saw swatches of these on another blog and was very underwhelmed. But I see a lot more that I want now. All the glitters except the bar glitter one; but oh man, Christmas Gone Paid is a beautiful green. Great swatches Lisa!
I really like this collection and I’d like to own about half of it, I think! The toppers are much better than I expected, only it’s too bad that you gotta fish for those squares… other than that, I want them all ;) The green is my favourite, I think I NEED it, lol!
Thanks for all the beautiful swatches :)
I feel like OPI redeemed itself with these glitters! The last few collections were nice, but I didn’t want to run out and go buy them. Snow Globetrotter and Comet in the Sky are MUST haves! Beautiful swatches!
Beautiful swatches! Good lord at the reds! I really love Snow Globetrotter and Comet in the Sky as well as Christmas Gone Paid because I really need a green creme that shade. I think that I will just stick with those three as I just got a lovely red OPI creme recently (Coca Cola Red) so I think I’m good. ;)
