Press Sample of OPI Fall 2016
Washington DC Collection
I still can’t believe Fall collections are rolling out already. Didn’t Summer just start? Why am I back to school shopping already? This is crazy! If you happen to be ready for Fall (I’m not) then I have the OPI Fall 2016 Washington DC Collection to share with you now!
The OPI Fall 2016 Washington DC Collection is chock full of cremes that all scream “FALL!” When I first opened the package up and took a look, I was kind of “meh” but as I worked on them, several grew on me.
This collection was made as a collaboration with Emmy® and Golden Globe® nominated actress Kerry Washington, recently named as OPI’s first-ever Creative Ambassador. Washington worked closely with OPI co-founder and brand ambassador Suzi Weiss-Fischmann to develop and name this collection of dramatic, sophisticated interpretations of classic fall hues.
Let’s dive right into this Fall collection! By the end of it, you’ll probably be ready to break out the scarves and pumpkin spiced goodies.
OPI Fall 2016 Washington DC Collection – Pale To The Chief
OPI Pale To The Chief is a pale nude creme with a very subtle, fine shimmer that’s so fine, you actually might miss it. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
In the photo below, look where the light hits and you can see the faint shimmer.
OPI Fall 2016 Washington DC Collection – Never A Dulles Moment
I’m going to say something I honestly never thought I would say on my blog. Ever. This yellow is my top pick of the collection. I’m not a yellow polish person, at all. It usually looks horrible on m, but this one actually made me stop and wear it for a full day before i went back to swatching. And in case you didn’t realize it, this is the first time a yellow shade was ever my top pick in any collection in 4.5 years of blogging. It’s not that I didn’t like the other cremes in the collection so much that I HAD to pick a yellow either. This yellow was just that nice on me.
OPI Never A Dulles Moment is a slightly dusty yellow that leans towards the “mustard yellow” look but isn’t quite there. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. My first coat was streaky, but I floated the second coat on and it looked perfect.
OPI Fall 2016 Washington DC Collection – Freedom Of Peach
OPI Freedom Of Peach is not really peach (which I was half hoping for because I love a good peach shade) and instead it’s more of a dusty pumpkin orange creme. I used 2 super easy coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
OPI Fall 2016 Washington DC Collection – Yank My Doodle
OPI Yank My Doodle. I won’t even lie I did giggle when I first saw the name. The 12 year old in me found it funny. The 34 year old that I am found it juvenile.
OPI Yank My Doodle is a slightly dusty burnt orange creme. The formula itself applied nicely, but the opacity bordered on crelly. I needed 3 coats and a glossy top coat for this shade.
OPI Fall 2016 Washington DC Collection – Inside The Isabelletway
Inside The Isabelletway is one of three limited edition shades within the collection. This is a slightly dusty warm brown. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
OPI Fall 2016 Washington DC Collection – Suzi – First Lady Of Nails
OPI Suzi – First Lady Of Nails is a medium toned olive green creme. First coat went on kind of streaky and scary, but second coat made it perfect. 2 coats and a glossy top coat for this one.
OPI Fall 2016 Washington DC Collection – Squeaker Of The House
OPI Squeaker Of The House is a dusty milk chocolate brown. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
OPI Fall 2016 Washington DC Collection – Madam President
OPI Madam President is a vibrant red toned magenta. At first I thought it was red until I put it on and it’s definitely not a full on red. Really pretty and was perfect in just 2 coats.
OPI Fall 2016 Washington DC Collection – Shh… It’s Top Secret!
OPI Shh… It’s Top Secret is a deep, dark chocolate brown. Of all 15 shades in this collection, I found this formula to be the thinnest and the sheerest. It wasn’t impossible to work with and I wouldn’t say runny, but it was thinner than others. I used 3 thin coats for these photos to avoid cuticle flooding, and you can still see some sheer areas on my nails under the lighting.
OPI Fall 2016 Washington DC Collection – “Liv” In The Gray
OPI “Liv” In The Gray is another limited edition shade in the collection. This is a medium gray creme with hints of green tones (at least on me it does). I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these phtoos.
OPI Fall 2016 Washington DC Collection – We The Female
OPI We The Female is a slightly dusty brick red creme. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
OPI Fall 2016 Washington DC Collection – OPI By Popular Vote
OPI By Popular Vote is another top pick of mine for this collection. This is a slightly dusty medium rose creme. Perfect formula – 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
OPI Fall 2016 Washington DC Collection – Kerry Blossom
OPI Kerry Blossom is the third and final limited edition shade in the collection. While I absolutely love this shade of warm eggplant purple creme, I feel like I see this once or twice a year from OPI, or at least a shade incredibly similar.
Formula was perfection. Two coats and a glossy top coat.
OPI Fall 2016 Washington DC Collection – CIA = Color Is Awesome
OPI CIA = Color Is Awesome is a medium teal blue creme. While I didn’t experience any staining with this shade, I would still be careful with it just in case (my nails don’t stain super easy)
I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. My photos pull more blue but in person there is more green to this shade.
OPI Fall 2016 Washington DC Collection – Stay Off The Lawn!
OPI Stay Off The Lawn! is a slightly dusty hunter green creme. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
OPI Fall 2016 Washington DC Collection Overview
I already see it in groups “Ugh, another creme collection – how original /sarcasm” BUT I will say these cremes applied really well. The only one I found thinner was Shh… It’s Top Secret, otherwise they were really nice. In total honesty, this might be my favorite OPI collection of 2016 so far. While not all the colors are completely original, the formulas are mostly good, the colors are spot on for Fall and a couple I don’t think I have dupes for – so while similar, probably not exact. Almost all of them have a beautiful dusty quality to them that really got me in the Fall mood, and damn – they got me to pick a yellow as my favorite.
My personal favorites (in order) are: Never A Dulles Moment, OPI By Popular Vote, Madam President, Pale To The Chief and Yank My Doodle.
While I have 15 shades here, apparently ULTA got 2 or 3 additional ULTA exclusive shades for this collection. I only spotted 2 online, but there are whispers of 3. I’m actually going to go look for them this weekend and see if I can locate 2 or 3. So really there are 17 or 18 shades in this collection altogether. 2-3 are ULTA exclusives, 3 are limited edition (Kerry Blossom, “Liv” In The Gray & Inside The Isabelletway) and 12 shades in the standard Fall lineup.
Price: $10.00 Each
WHERE TO FIND THEM: ULTA, ULTA.com, and select professional salons

My press info says these will be available in September, but I’ve already seen them popping up online, so you can probably find these now.

Ahhhh I actually love this collection! I didn’t think I would but they all look lovely. Xx
I didn’t think I would be that thrilled when I saw the press release, but I was completely wrong.
Never a Dulles Moment is the only one I picked up from this collection. I love that it’s a warmer yellow but not quite mustard. It looks gorgeous on you too!
Yes! It definitely has the qualities of almost being in the mustard family, but not quite yet! It’s a really good yellow! Thank you Stacy!
I’m not ready for fall nail polish colors, but im so ready for cooler weather! Lovely swatches
