Polish Pickup | Bad-Ass Women

It’s that time again! I was hoping to complete this last Wednesday but some polishes are trickling in still. I’m waiting on 2 more that are on the way but we have a lot going on here, so I wanted to complete the post before things get too hectic. Once the missing 2 polishes arrive, I’ll pop them in. So we’re now going to look at my review on 43 (once the missing ones arrive) of the November 2018 Polish Pickup Bad-Ass Women!

The two I’m waiting on are Alter Ego Nail Enamel and Blue Eyed Girl Lacquer. If you want to see those, pop back in later and take a look. 

Before I get into this, we’re going to talk about this new Facebook group and I’m going to describe it’s concept. The group is Polish Pickup. Polish Pickup offers a fun, interactive experience that allows you to submit theme ideas, vote for your favorite theme, and selectively purchase your favorite polishes every month. It’s NOT a box though. I think when it formed that was the major misconception of it.

Now, I love polish boxes, however, some purchasers shared their frustration in only wanting 1 or 2 polishes from a box and needing to unload the polishes in the box they didn’t want. So essentially they were paying $40 and up for 1 or 2 polishes and hoping they could sell the polishes they weren’t interested in.

Polish Pickup is different. While the concept of picking themes and voting isn’t new, instead of buying the whole box, you can shop online for JUST the single polishes you want. There can be many indie makers involved with the theme, but you only have to pay for the exact polishes you wanted rather than 4-8 polishes you may not have been interested in.

Then every month the theme and makers change and you get a whole new set of polishes to pick and choose from. So while it has a box like feel (with the voting and themes) it doesn’t carry the box commitment.

This set of polishes will be available from November 2nd at 11am EST through November 5th at 11:59pm EST.

Let’s get this show on the road. I had breakfast, got my coffee here and I’m settling in for this 5 hour typing marathon (yes, it’s a time commitment – good thing I love it)

77 Nail Lacquer | F*ck & Run

Inspiration:  Liz Phair’s song F*ck & Run off her album, Exile In Guyville.

Description: F*ck & Run is a shimmery, warm nude base with red to orange to gold shifting flakes, copper sparks and golden shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Inspiration:  Georgia O’Keeffe “Pineapple Bud”

Description: Pineapple Bud is a dusty sage green crelly with glass flecks and ultrachrome chameleon flakes that shift red to bronze to gold to green. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Baroness X | Superhuman’s Bourbon Acetone Additive

Inspiration: Jessica Jones

Description: Superhuman’s Bourbon is a bourbon based scent with vanilla and a touch of cinnamon and clove. The bourbon scent isn’t super strong, but you do get that warm, cozy whiff of it. The vanilla, cinnamon and clove scent comes through a tad more. 

Acetone Antidote is an additive containing glycerin and jojoba oil to help protect and moisturize your nails, skin, and cuticles during polish removal.

Recommended Use:  Add the entire vial to 6-8oz of acetone. You can add more or less, these are just suggestions for optimal scent and protection from acetone. Once the AA is added to your acetone just shake the bottle once to mix it each time you change polish. There’s no need to keep shaking during the removal of a full mani with our formulation, it will stay blended long enough to remove your polish.

Ingredients: glycerin, jojoba oil, h2o, fragrance, polysorbate 80 (emulsifier), colorant

Description: You Have No Power Here is an emerald to teal shimmering shifting shade with matching microglitters. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. There is a slight texture, so if you use a thin top coat, 2 should smooth it out completely.

Inspiration: Lady Gaga

Description: Iconic, Incredible is a dark blue-purple jelly based holographic with a flash of blue, indigo to purple aurora shimmer, violet shimmer, silver holographic micro shreds, purple holographic microglitter, bright pink and purple flakes and iridescent blue flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. There is a slight texture, so if you use thinner top coat, you might need 2 coats.

Description: The First Detective is an olive green multichrome magnetic with a strong bronze overcast of aurora shimmer, as well as fiery ultra chameleon flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. I used an arc magnet for the magnetic effect.

November 2018 Polish Pickup | Bad-Ass Women

I started this post at 11:15 this morning and it’s now 4:55 pm. This is a long process, but one I enjoy doing every month. 

Once again we have a wonderful assortment of colors and finishes to choose from! I was a little worried at the start – my first 5 polishes in were all purple. But as they kept trickling in, the variety opened up a lot.
