Newspaper Nails using Zoya Snowwhite

by Lisa Heath

A couple of months ago I saw a video on Cutepolish about Newspaper nails and thought it looked adorable!  I decided I wanted to try this out after my water marble nails turned out better than expected.

I picked up rubbing alcohol and snagged yesterday’s Wall Street Journal from work.  The only difference I made compared to the video was – instead of dunking my nail in rubbing alcohol, I dipped a cotton ball into a small cup of rubbing alcohol then held the cotton ball over the newspaper I placed on my nail.

I was pretty tired starting these so I rushed a bit.  I used 2 coats of Zoya’s SnowWhite nail polish which was a bit streaky.  It’s the first Zoya I’ve come across that just didn’t want to play.  Waiting for each coat to dry was torture and I was growing sleepier.  I ripped 10 small pieces of the Wall Street Journal placed them over each nail one at a time and pressed a wet cotton ball over the nail.

My thumb was first and its awful.  There are 3 bald spots where i think the paper folded or something – but I failed at this. My next 3 nails came out so-so and my pinky, well I moved the paper a bit when I was putting the cotton ball on.  Its not horrible but its not great… so I will be attempting this again when I am a little less tired.

Failed thumb

At first I wasn’t going to post this fail of an attempt – but what the hell… I tried!  I actually enjoy viewing blogs that post up stuff whether its good or bad!  This allows me to add a “fail” tag.  Hopefully at some point tomorrow I can do this again and have a successful attempt!

What I used:

  • Zoya SnowWhite
  • Newspaper (Wall Street Journal)
  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Small cup
  • Cotton Balls
  • Armor Top Coat

Goodnight all!

I am really inspired with your writing abilities and also with the structure to your blog. Is this a paid subject or did you customize it your self? Either way keep up the nice high quality writing, it’s uncommon to see a great weblog like this one today..
