How is it almost time for another shop already? This month flew by! I feel like I just wrote my February post. Today I have my March 2018 Polish Pickup Books writeup to share!
This month I have 31 items (like Baskin Robbins!) to share with you. This is roughly 1/3 of the shop offerings and I’m completely grateful for the opportunity to work with so many brands each month.
I’m gonna do my usual thing, then we’ll move onto why everyone is really here. Let’s see my spiel first (in case someone who isn’t aware of PPU stumbles upon this post)
Before I get into this, we’re going to talk about this new Facebook group and I’m going to describe it’s concept. The group is Polish Pickup. Polish Pickup offers a fun, interactive experience that allows you to submit theme ideas, vote for your favorite theme, and selectively purchase your favorite polishes every month. It’s NOT a box though. I think when it formed that was the major misconception of it.
Now, I love polish boxes, however, some purchasers shared their frustration in only wanting 1 or 2 polishes from a box and needing to unload the polishes in the box they didn’t want. So essentially they were paying $40 and up for 1 or 2 polishes and hoping they could sell the polishes they weren’t interested in.
Polish Pickup is different. While the concept of picking themes and voting isn’t new, instead of buying the whole box, you can shop online for JUST the single polishes you want. There can be many indie makers involved with the theme, but you only have to pay for the exact polishes you wanted rather than 4-8 polishes you may not have been interested in.
Then every month the theme and makers change and you get a whole new set of polishes to pick and choose from. So while it has a box like feel (with the voting and themes) it doesn’t carry the box commitment.
This set of polishes will be available from March 2nd at 11am EST through March 5th at 11:59pm EST.
Let’s take a look. This month’s theme will be Books! As an avid reader – I approve of this theme!

Contrary Polish – Sea Of Flames Lip Balm
Inspiration: The “Sea of Flames” gem from the book All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr; this fictional gem is described as “the blue of tropical seas [with] a touch of red at its center, like flames inside a drop of water.”
Description: Sea of Flames has a sweet cabernet-inspired flavor (Cabernet Sauvignon grapes with notes of crushed berries, currants, vanilla, and sugar). It is packaged in a sturdy acrylic jar with a clear lid. Since these balms are poured by hand, the design of each balm will vary slightly.
In this lip balm, the “water” is a sea blue with green shimmer, the “flames” are an orangey pink-red, and there’s a copper-red shimmer running through both. The balm is tinted in the jar but only provides the slightest hint of shimmer on the lips.
This is INCREDIBLY lightly tinted. If you have really pigmented lips, it may only show up as a shine. I do show a swatch on my finger and you can see the slightest tint. It does smell yummy and feels really good on. It’s not a sticky balm.

Dollish Polish – Dusty Coffin Cuticle Oil Pen
Inspiration: The Vampire Lestat by Anne Rice
Description: blood orange scent, with notes of moist earth, vanilla musk, spiced clove, aged mahogany wood and just a hint of death and decay. The perfect scent for the undead! To me it’s like an earthy citrus cut with vanilla. Very mellow and actually very different from anything I own.
There is a deeper colored blob of color running through this cuticle oil so don’t be alarmed when you get it! Nothing’s wrong and it’s intended to be this way! It’s meant to look like blood oozing around the inside of the pen.
Price: $6.50
Cap: 90 Pens
Ellagee – Nolite Te Bastardes Carboundorum
Inspiration: The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood
Description: A rich, deep red matte with red shimmer and bright red translucent flakes. I show it with and without top coat in a closeup photo, but the main photos are done with no top coat. I used 2 coats for these photos.

Right before you go poo-poo!
Our classical scent of lemongrass, lavender and peppermint will freshen up your bathroom. Spray right into the water before you go and flush it all away when you are done!
Made with all natural essential oils.
This is basically a toilet spray that “traps” odors. Perfect for those who live in a one bathroom household with 2 boys (me) but also if you have dinner guests or people over so they aren’t embarrassed if they have to go #2 while at your home (or if you have to go while people are there) My son gleefully tested this stuff out during his nightly routine (at least he’s regular?) and it actually does work. I was impressed.

Inspiration: Lothlorien (Lord of the Rings)

March 2018 Polish Pickup Books
As someone who was raised with very little TV time and was told to “read a book instead” I really enjoyed this theme. I regularly read 2-3 books a week, and while I love the classics – I’m generally drawn to more paranormal fantasy type books. I have also been following the Sue Grafton Kinsey Malhone series for years and was absolutely devastated when she passed away last year. The final book “Z” will never be written. So I’ve read A-Y.
Anyways, all of these shades were lovely and I swear the makers are getting better and better every month with their creations!
Where To Buy: Polish Pickup Shop

Anne McCaffrey is one of my favorite sci-fi writers. I’ve read all of her Dragons of Pern books and a few others as well. She’s great.
Sooo many gorgeous shades. I own so much nail polish, I got really addicted to it a few years back, but I never use it. I need to start painting my nails.
What gorgeous photography. You are a hand model!! I love what you have shared. I don’t feel pulled together unless my nails are done, whether it is a special occasion or not. :)
You have got some great pictures! Those colors on the nails are absolutely outstanding and I could use a whole bunch of those right now. I love to color my nails as much as I can just because life is too boring without colors.
There are so many beautiful colours here!! I’m torn between loving Midsomers night dream and Enchanted Princess. I think those two are my favourite!!! I love the sparkles and the depth of the colours
These are really beautiful colours and such a great glitter base to so many of them! I really love “An Eccentric Billionaire” – it is SO Gatsby style!
Wow! That’s a lot of polish haha! Lots and lots to choose from. I’m a fan of Richelle Mead, but I’ve never read that book. Weird that I’m using this post to add books to my wishlist? :)
I love Richelle Mead (that’s my polish!), but this book isn’t her normal style. I probably should’ve gone with Gameboard of the Gods (I so wish she would release the 3rd book!), but this series lends itself to creating colors much more than her other series. :) It’s an interesting book, but I think it’s mislabeled as “fantasy.” :D
Your photos are AMAZING and honestly I am not THAT into nail polish I mean I use it, but I do not go seeking out any other blog nail polish post other than yours! You find the BEST trendy colors!!!! I always try to find ONE favorite but end up loving so many on your posts! I am totally into the greens this time of the year and you have some KILLER green colors!
I was sold on that Pewter foil one, then all the ones that followed were incredible too. How do you choose?? I would have to redo my nails every day with that many colors!
I like them all but my favorite is the blue color! Your nails are perfectly cut, I am envious! I only paint my nails once in a while, it doesn’t stay very well especially during summer when I spend most of my time in the garden.
Wow, those are some seriously beautiful colors. I need to get myself some of these. I really love the glittery ones. Those are always my favorite.
I love bright nail colors for spring! I need to try a few of these for myself!! Thanks for the heads up on these gorgeous colors!!
Gorgeous, Lisa!!! Thank you for sharing! :D Also, the Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer cap is up to 200 now for anyone interested! :D
Love all the colors and the styles! So many great options! I need to check some of these out! After all, Spring is here!
Such gorgeous and fabulous nail colors. And your nails are beautiful too. :) I have always loved red so I’m going to check those.
All of these are just gorgeous! I love the sparkly ones the best.
Totally jealous of all your nail polishes! WOW! My fave is the Decatur Georgia
