Happy Wednesday! I was hoping to have this up yesterday, but life enjoys throwing some curveballs! Jacob got his temporary crown done (he had a root canal not too long ago on the tooth he broke 3 years ago) and we had to have a custom post created for the tooth and plan for a possible implant when he’s older… and just a lot of appointments. So blogging took a bit of a backseat.

Today I have the Makers Dozen July 2019 collaboration shop, which has a theme of Cakes.

Since this is all still new, we’ll go over what the Makers Dozen is about and how it works:

Makers Dozen has 12 set makers each month. Those makers are:

Jior Couture, Sassy Pants Polish, Zombie Claw Polish, PI Colors, Copacetic Cosmetics, Baby Girl Lacquer, LynB Designs, Leesha’s Lacquers, NeVerMind Polish, Alter Ego Nail Enamel, Ms. Sparkle, and Inspurrrations.

The 13th maker each month will be a guest maker.

Each month will have a new theme, July is Cakes. Each maker is given a color to work with, and each month the color for each maker rotates. So if a maker does purple for July, they won’t do purple as their main color scheme again for 13 months as it rotates through.

While each maker is given a color, they have creative freedom on how to use and incorporate that color. It can be within any shade range of that particular color or a prominent element within the polish.

If you noticed I called this a collaboration and not a shop. There is no set “shop” for this. Each polish is available in each individual maker’s store. Only 40 bottles of each polish will be made and they will be available in each store for the ENTIRE month (unless their 40 bottles sell out.)

As of right now Delanie of Swatch The Box and I are the “official” swatchers for this box so you have a set blog and a set live view for posts, but each maker had the ability to send to their own swatchers as well. To see more swatches, you can join the Makers Dozen Facebook Group.

Now we’ll get into my photos for the very first Makers Dozen Collaboration. This month the guest maker is Red Eyed Lacquer.

Jior Couture | Berry Layered Cake (Tri-Thermal)

Color: Purple

Berry Layered Cake is a plum (cold) to violet (warm) to lilac (hot) tri-thermal with various shades of purple shifting aurora pigment. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This is a berry pound cake scent polish, but there is a scented or unscented option when purchasing. The scent itself is a light, fruity, scent cut with vanilla cake. It’s quiet nice and not too strong.

Sassy Pants Polish | Happy Birthday

Color: Yellow

Happy Birthday is a pale yellow crelly with pink, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple assorted glitters and gold shimmer. The base is more “off white” on me, so it’s not the harsh pure white… almost like a vanilla cake. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Zombie Claw | Mer-Cinderella Princess Of The Glass Slipper

Color: Blue

Mer-Cinderella Princess Of The Glass Slipper is a slightly dusty blue linear holographic with pink to gold to green flakes. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Color: Pink

Rosaceae.022 is a pink nude with holo powder and blue-green hex iridescent glitters. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Color: Black

Darkness & Despair…But With Sprinkles is a black base loaded with purple glitter and white micro flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Baby Girl Lacquer | Orange Slice

Color: Orange

Orange Slice is an almost metallic like red-orange with golden shimmer and red to bronze to copper ultrachrome chameleon micro flecks. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Color: Brown

Whatcha Makin’ Fruit Cake is a caramel base with copper shimmer, holo flakes, and ultrachrome chameleon flakes that shift from red to gold to copper to orange. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Leesha’s Lacquer | Queremos Pastel

Color: Grey

Queremos Pastel is a dark grey base with strong purple shimmer, flakies, and blue glitters. It dries down to a semi-matte finish. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Green Tea Cake is an olive green jelly base with micro chartreuse and bronze glitter. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Color: Magenta

Yay! It’s My Birthday Month! is a magenta crelly with gold shimmer and aurora pigments, iridescent flakes, yellow stars and holographic glitters. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Inspurrrations | Hello Kitty Sprinkles

Color: Clear

Hello Kitty Sprinkles is a clear topper with black and yellow dots, white flakes and pink bows I used 1 coat over a black creme and a glossy top coat for these photos.

You do need to fish a bit for the bows and dots.

Each individual price is shown within each listing as well as the shop link to grab that polish from. You have the whole month to shop, but there are only 40 bottles of each shade. Once 40 bottles sell, that’s it.
