Press Sample of the Little Box of Horrors
July 2021 | Summer
This month is flying by and due to some house things… I’m a little behind posting. So I’m up a little later to work on this one… and we’re going to be looking at the Little Box of Horrors July 2021 with a Summer theme!
I have 42 of this month’s offerings ready to go. If you are new to Little Box of Horrors, read on a bit… otherwise you can skip to the swatches.
This will be a bi-monthly collaboration shop that will consist of 25-35 makers. Each bi-monthly shop will have either a horror, sci-fi, thriller, supernatural, paranormal, or mystery like theme – and the products will then be inspired by that theme.
The July theme is Summer – so it’s horror films that take place in Summer or have a Summer theme.
Little Box Of Horrors has set swatchers – however, makers are also able to send to their own swatchers as well. I will link the set swatchers at the end of this post.
Also when I say “set swatchers” makers aren’t forced to send to any of us, they can choose if they want to – so each of us have bits and pieces, but I think we’re all missing an item here and there. We also have a mix of bloggers, swatchers and live video to show.

All Mixed Up Lacquer | Foaming Mani Pedi Crumbles
Inspiration: Roasting marshmallows on crystal lake (Friday 13).

The scent this month is Sweet Cookie and it smells like a sugar cookie!

Apipila | Octopus Keychain
Inspiration: 2000 Movie – Octopus
Description: Apipila created an MDF wood octopus keychain with bronze hardware. My son saw this and was like “GIMMIE” so it’s now in his possession.
It has a skull like face and 8 tentacles and it has a naturally almost “worn” look to it that adds to the personality. Total size is 10 mm
Price: $12.00 | Cap: None
Apipila | Stamping Plate Water Horror
Inspiration: Water Horror
Description: Apipila has a stainless steel stamping plate full of watery horror images. I randomly selected a few to stamp with – and all had beautiful etching and I had no issues picking up.
These are all images from movies related to water horror and I love the selection done.
Price: $14.00 | Cap: None
Baroness X | Acetone Antidote in Yuzu & Sea Salt
Inspiration: Inspired by beach/ocean horror film in general , the sea salt side is the inspo on this scent…
Description: This month’s scent is Yuzu & Sea Salt, which is a blend of satsuma, yuzu, and grapefruit with a touch of sea salt finished with nectarine, apricot, and lotus. All of the scents balance well, and the one that is most prominent to my nose is grapefruit and satsuma.
Acetone Antidote is an additive for your acetone to protect your skin from the harshness of acetone. It contains glycerin and jojoba oil to help protect and moisturize your nails, skin, and cuticles during polish removal. Plus, no more ashy, dry skin! Simply shake up the vial and pour into your polish remover. I generally pour a full vial into a 10 oz pump bottle, but since this is double the usual size – I pour half in. I recommend shaking it and pouring 1/4 in and adding more if you feel you need more. I personally use a lot due to how much acetone I use daily.
This is a larger bottle that allows for 2-4 (maybe 5 or 6) usages. If you have purchased before from the Baroness X shop or other shops – this is double the size. I do have a comparison photo as the last photo in this set.
Price: $8.00 | Cap: None
Baroness X | A Bloody Jolly Swim Polish
Inspiration:Not inspired by a specific movie but a summer horror movie trope of being attacked in water. Who else afraid of getting in a lake or the ocean after years of horror flick watching?
Description: A Bloody Jolly Swim is a medium orchid leaning magenta holo with blue flakes and copper glitters. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Price: $11.50 | Cap: None
BCB Lacquers | Don’t Look
Inspiration: Glow in the dark Angler Fish
Description:
Don’t Look Down is a deep royal blue base with green to pink to gold shifting shimmer, iridescent flakes, and rainbow iridescent micro flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Price: $13.00 | Cap: 100
BCB Lacquers | Into the Deep Whipped Sugar Scrub
Inspiration: Into The Deep was inspired by the ocean.
Description: Into The Deep Whipped Sugar Scrub is a fluffy, gently but effective sugar scrub with a custom oil blend perfect for hydration and exfoliation. There is a mix of white and brown sugar mixed in. On top there is a mix of green and blue jojoba beads as well as blue eco-friendly glitter.
This month’s scent has top notes of lime, lemon, orange peel, agave, black currant, mint, patchouli, and sugar.
Price: $12.00 | Cap: 30
Beautometry | Stay Out of the Water Cuticle Putty Cream Trio
Inspiration: Jaws
Description: Beautometry has a set of 3 cuticle putty creams for us. Each Cuticle Putty is a different scent, and I like that they are small enough to slip into a pocket for on the go.
I Used to Hate The Water is scented like sun tan lotion
It Was A Shark! is scented like a coconut slushy
You’re Gonna Need A Bigger Boat smells like an island getaway – very tropical.
These creams soak in nicely and aren’t oily or thick.
Price: $5.00 | Cap: None
Beautometry | I Used to Hate the Water Scrubby Putty
Inspiration: Jaws
Description: Scrubby Putty is a sugar scrub that smells amazing. The sugar particles are smaller in this scrub and offer a nice, gentle exfoliation. It smells like our favorite suntan lotion – which has coconut undertones. This comes in a 9.5 oz jar.
Price: $10.00 | Cap: None
Bonparsco | Luxury Cream Eyeshadow
Inspiration: The inspiration is Helen’s eyeshadow color in I Know What You Did Last Summer
Description: This luxury cream eyeshadow is a soft, shimmery reddish brown with light pink sparkles. It’s a very light weight formula and it offers a nice wash of color that sheers out quite well. It’s a barely there color on me when I pat it into my eyelid and gives my eyes some oomph.
It is a non sticky formula and goes to a nice, smooth finish.
Price: $8.00 | Cap: 15
Color Spectrum Polish | You’re Doomed! You’re All Doomed!
Inspiration: Friday the 13th

Price: $13.00 | Cap: None
Colores de Carol | Just One Bite Polish

Description: Just One Bite is a light grey crelly base with Aurora shimmer, micro holo glitter, blue glitter flakes and orange holo glitters. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Price: $13.00 | Cap: None
Dark Moon Essentials | Lost in the Lagoon Luxurious Mango Velvet Cream
Inspiration: All good, campy Summer horror movies have a lake or lagoon where one of the characters wanders into and meets a gruesome end!
Description: To me, the Lost In the Lagoon Mango Velvet Cream feels like a hybrid cream and balm combined. It feels more like a stiff cream, so it’s not hard to get out – vs digging into a balm. However, once you bring it out, it melts on contact with your body heat and almost goes to a thick cuticle oil.
This soaks into my skin nicely, and if used in small amounts – it’s non greasy. I prefer to use it for my cuticles, but this can be used on any dry body part like elbows and knees!
Scent wise, this is lighter and slightly tropical. It’s hard to pinpoint the notes but i almost want to say a light lime and coconut
Price: $13.00 | Cap: 30
Fanchromatic Nails | The Midnight Sun
Inspiration: by Midsommar
Description: The Midnight Sun is a sky blue crelly base with green, lavender, gold, pink and silver glitters ranging from micro to medium, as well as a delicate silver shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Price: $12.00 | Cap: None
Galatea Cosmetics | A Love Rune Cuticle Balm
Inspiration: Midsommar – the spell cast over Christian
Description: A Love Rune is an intensive balm that works well for cuticles, elbows, knees – pretty much anywhere that needs a boost of help. This comes in a large 1 ounce tin, so larger than a typical cuticle balm.
Scent description: A suspiciously savory pie with bright notes of summer peach and candied ginger.
The scent is on the lighter side so it won’t overpower anything, but is still deliciously detectable. I definitely get the pie crust and spice of ginger scents.
Price: $8.00 | Cap: None
Galatea Cosmetics | The Great Festival of Renewal Wax Melts
Inspiration: Midsommer
Description: The Great Festival Of Renewal is a fresh smelling wax melt that comes in a standard 3 oz clamshell. The scent notes are:
Lavender fields, fresh herbs, ancestral trees, the first apple harvest, and bright citrus sunshine!
I get a fresh herb and citrus immediately and just light undertones of lavender. Nick said I need to grab more of this one.

Just Duckie Designs | Let’s Twist This Ear Wrap
Inspiration:The Psych episode “Tuesday the 17th.”
Description: Silver tone ear wrap and charm, silver plated chain and rings, ruby quartz briolettes.
This piece wraps around the outside of your ear and it’s super cute. I actually haven’t seen anything like this before – and it’s fun. To put it on, hook it onto your ear. I hold it almost horizontal – hook it over the top of my ear, then drop the back down to rest along the outside of my ear. It’s super lightweight too so it almost feels like you aren’t wearing anything.
Price: $17.00 | Cap: 20
Just Duckie Designs | Gonna Need a Bigger Boat Jaws Inspired Hair Pick
Inspiration: Jaws being attracted to all of the people swimming
Description: I use hair picks/sticks a lot – I also will swap them out for pencils or pens if I don’t have an actual hair stick available. I’ve smuggled many pens home on accident doing this.
This is a silver toned hair pick and shark head charm (the mouth is on a hinged piece so you can open and close the mouth) with 3 dangling ruby quartz briolettes.
The pick is 5″ long and it’s also easy to use. I twist my hair up into a bun and then stick the pin through the middle (usually I do it at an angle) and I wiggle the stick a little so it gets the bun and weaved into the hair against my scalp. I hope that makes sense? Then the stick usually stays in place with my hair up all day.

LynBDesigns | Day at the Beach Wax Melt
Inspiration: Beachy horror movies
Description: This month’s wax melt is a scent blend of Himalayan Sea Salt is complimented with Crushed Sage and Oud Wood. It’s a very earthy/herbally mix – but there is a light floral component that my nose is picking up that makes it a nice combination with the herbal aspect.
It’s really nice and relaxing.
Price: $4.50 | Cap: 100
MTK Design | Rooting for the Crocodile (Thermal)
Inspiration: Lake Placid
Description: Rooting For The Crocodile is a jelly based thermal that goes sheer chartreuse yellow (warm) to swampy green (cold) with copper to gold to green shimmer and green to gold to copper iridescent flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Price: $12.00 | Cap: None
My Indie Polish | The Meg

Northern Star | S’mores Scented Cuticle Oil
Inspiration: Summer camp horror & s’mores around the campfire
Description: S’mores scented cuticle oil comes in an ombre colored glass vial with a metal roller ball applicator. It glides on nicely and dispenses a good amount of oil. Just roll the applicator over the dry parts and then massage in.
It smells like S’mores – so a nice mix of chocolate, graham cracker and marshmallow! I really want a s’mores now… I think I have S’mores flavored coffee pods upstairs so that might have to do.

Peachtree Polish | Watch Out!

Description: Watch Out! is a sheer plum purple jelly with matte orange, black, and red glitters and micro pink holographic glitters. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Price: $12.00 | Cap: 50
Ribbits Stickits | Frogetaboutit Acetone Additive
Inspiration: Jaws
Description: Frogetaboutit Acetone Additive is a mixture of glycerine and oil and fragrance that you add to your acetone to help prevent drying and that white ashen skin look. Most do add these to pure acetone, but i personally like using it in Zoya Remove +. Remove+ does already have it’s own built in additive in a sense, but I like the additional boost.
This is a 30ml bottle, so you could shake this bad boy up and potentially get up to 4 uses out of it, depending on how much you pour per bottle. Just make sure you shake it first to mix the oils and glycerine up.
This one is scented in Gonna Need A Bigger Boat which is a scent blend of coconut, pineapple, grapefruit, citrus, apples, ozone, jasmine, sea salt and ocean mist, sun bleached driftwood and tropical flowers with subtle cedar, violet, light musk, and vanilla base.
The scent is very tropical… like sitting on an old wooden porch while drinking a tropical drink. The sea air and old wood mingle with the fruity notes of the drink and there’s a little musky jasmine lingering too.
Price: $8.00 | Cap: 30
Ribbits Stickits | Un-frog-getable Cuticle Cover Liquid Latex
Inspiration: Jaws
Description: Cuticle Cover is a liquid latex that you apply to your skin so you can keep it neat when you do stamping or any type of nail designs/art that may extend beyond the nail while doing it. This way when it’s done, you can peel the latex off and have a clean surrounding area.
This is lightly scented in Gonna Need a Bigger Boat, which is the same scent description as the Acetone Additive above.
Scent Description: Coconut, pineapple, grapefruit, citrus, apples, ozone, jasmine, sea salt and ocean mist, sun bleached driftwood and tropical flowers with subtle cedar, violet, light musk, and vanilla base.
Price: $8.00 | Cap: 30
Ribbits Stickits | Gonna Need a Bigger Boat Un-frog-getable Hand & Cuticle Cream
Inspiration: Jaws

The Soapy Chef | Come Out, Come Out, Wherever You Are! Hand and Nail Scrub
Inspiration: Inspired by the super creepy/thrilling movie, Cape Fear(1991 version)
Description: This hand and nail “snow” scrub is a gentle exfoliating scrub for hands and nails. It emulsifies and lathers when you add water to it. It will condition and brighten nails and cuticles and leave your skin feeling refreshed and silky smooth.
This is such a perfect nail scrub – the exfoliation is nice, gentle but still effective.
The scent is what The Soapy Chef believes Max Cody would smell like fresh from jail and scrubbed clean Scent notes: bergamot, basil, earthy oakmoss, white patchouli. This is a slightly earthy and masculine leaning scent. It’s fresh, clean and I wouldn’t mind a body wash with this scent profile.
Price: $9.00 | Cap: 75
The Soapy Chef | You Shocking Degenerate! Scoop-able Wax
Inspiration: by the super creepy/thrilling movie, Cape Fear(1991 version)
