Winter 2016 Collection
Guess what? Most of you probably know this but the KBShimmer Winter 2016 Collection launched yesterday! If you weren’t aware, then you need to scoot on over and take a look, but first I have my swatches of the collection to show you!
This post contains a little more than JUST the polish, there are some new items on the site as well, like a holo cosmetic bag (yeah I know, I’m excited too)
This is a 16 piece collection so we’re going to jump right into the swatches, then go over the new items also listed… and then talk some holiday promos.
Bling In The New Year
Bling In The New Year is a similar polish to the Birthstone polishes. It has densely packed silver flakes, holo microglitter, andultra chrome shards mixed in. They lay relatively flat, so there isn’t a textured feel, but it’s very reflective and blingy. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Take Me For Granite
Take Me For Granite is a light dove grey crelly base with black, white and grey hex glitters in various sizes mixed in. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Yeti Or Not
Yeti Or Not is a super light grey crelly base with iridescent and silver holographic microglitters to really make it sparkle. I used 2 coats of Yeti Or Not and 2 coats of top coat for a completely smooth feel. If you don’t mind texture, you can go without top coat or just do 1 coat. It’s not super textured, but just enough.
Get To The Poinsettia
Get To The Poinsettia is a santa suit red linear holographic. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Chai-huahua
Chai-huahua is a slightly dusty brick red. It’s a bit deeper than my photos show. Gorgeous creme that was fully opaque in 2 coats.
Haute Mess
Haute Mess is a glitter polish loaded with silver, copper, rose gold and holo glitters in a clear base. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. It CAN be used in 1 coat over a base color, but it’s actually quite blingy and blinding when layered up.
Whiskey Business
Whiskey Business is a warm golden yellow jelly base loaded with metallic flakes and micro holo glitters. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
The Holy Kale
The Holy Kale is a gorgeous green linear holographic holographic with pink to blue shifting flakes mixed in. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Spruce Things Up
Spruce Things Up is a Christmas green jelly base packed with silver holographic micro glitters. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Have A Look-Ski
First off – my photos are not accurate of this color. It wouldn’t photograph for me at all. In reality – this is a deep, slightly dusty teal linear holographic. NOT the vibrant blue my photos show. This was literally the closest I could get it, but it just didn’t want to cooperate.
I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these inaccurate shots.
For a better idea of what color this is, the KBShimmer listing actually has a few shots that are much closer.
Ink Again
Ink Again is a vibrant cobalt blue linear holographic. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Ornamentally Flawless
Ornamentally Flawless is a clear base packed with medium hex glitters in a rainbow of colors. You can use it as 1 coat over a base color (like I did) or layer it over itself (like Haute Mess) for a full coverage, blingy look.
You get a LOT of glitter with each coat, and I did use a little dotting tool to push down some glitters that looked like they were trying to jump off of my nails.
Royal To A Fault
Royal To A Fault is a royal purple jelly base packed with micro glass flakes that shift from blue to violet. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Just Duvet It
Just Duvet It is actually my top pick of this collection! Just Duvet It is a rich grape purple with holo micro glitter and pink shimmer mixed in. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
A Walk In The Park-A
A Walk In The Park-A is a medium, slightly dusty, orchid creme. I used 2 easy coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Soot and Ladders
Soot and Ladders is the final shade I have to show you, and another favorite of mine! This is a rich black jelly base loaded with pink, aqua, silver, green, red and orange micro glass flecks. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Cocoa and Cookies Mani Shots
KBShimmer has 3 new scents for the Winter/Holiday 2016 season. These scents will be offered up in the various hand and skin care forms: Mani Shots, Mega Shots, Sugar Scrubs, Picture Perfect Cuticle Creams and Lotions.
Gingerbread Men: The holiday season would not be complete in my house without the scent of gingerbread cookies filling the air. Freshly shaven nutmeg, warm clove, spicy ginger and cinnamon complete this drool worthy Christmas scent.
Very Merry Cranberry: Turkey day would not be the same without warmed cranberry cider and a bowl of jiggly cranberry sauce. This scent is a deep, sweet blend of ripe cranberry, citrus zest and warm woods – a fresh, festive and comforting winter scent.
Cocoa and Cookies: A scent that will make Santa stop at your house first! It starts with a sweet chocolate drizzle, then adds confectioner’s sugar, marshmallow cream, cookie dough, vanilla and milk chocolate chips for a delightful treat that won’t pack on the pounds.
KBShimmer Holographic Zipper Bag
Anyone who knows Christy, knows she’s obsessed with holo (I am as well, so I get it!) This is the KBShimmer holo bag!
From the KBShimmer Site: Custom made for KBShimmer, this bag features a faux leather exterior that is ultra holographic. This silvery bag measures 8 inches long, is about 2 inches wide with a flat bottom, and a is about 5.5 inches tall at the top of the curved top. It is closed with a black nylon zipper. The inside of this bag is lined, and is printed with the KBShimmer logo. This bag is huge on the inside, we can even fit our full sized lotion along with other nail art items and polish!
KBShimmer Mont Bleu Crystal Nail File
I’ve featured Mont Bleu on my blog before, so I’m no stranger to this brand for files and I love them! KBShimmer has brought on mini crystal files that are perfect for traveling or just keeping in your purse for an emergency.
From the KBShimmer Site: These are high quality, Czech tempered glass, with the grit etched into the glass, for a long lasting, file that can be washed and sanitized. This fine grit is powerful enough for reshaping nails, but not so harsh that you get peeling or tearing of the nail.
These crystal files are travel sized, 90mm (3.55 inches) inches long, and 10 mm wide, and 2 mm thick. They are made by Mont Bleu, and come in a white PVC sleeve. They are imprinted with the KBShimmer logo.
Nail Polish Bottle Charm
Love charms? Well KBShimmer now has mini nail polish bottle charms with their flower logo on it! It’s 24 mm tall, and a hair over 8 mm across, weighing in at .02 oz.
You can attach this little cutie to a charm bracelet, makeup bag, purse, backpack… anywhere you want! There is no jump ring though, so you may need to find those if you need them.

KBShimmer Winter 2016 Collection Overview
Whew, that was a long post! Overall, I didn’t really have any application issues. Haute Mess and Ornamentally Flawless take a little finesse to apply, but that’s fairly typical of densely packed glitters that are larger. One thing I was a little sad about was the lack of glitter crellies. I’m not complaining, the selection here is lovely, but something about the KBShimmer glitter crelly creations always get me excited! The one in this collection, Take Me For Granite, is a lovely addition to the crelly lineup though.
My Top Picks: Yeti Or Not, Just Duvet It, Soot and Ladders, Take Me For Granite and The Holy Kale
OH! I also forgot to mention, Holly Back Girl and sELFie are back on the KBShimmer site for the holidays! Make sure to grab those if you missed out before. Holly Back Girl was from the 2014 Winter/Holiday lineup (but I think it might have come back last year as well?) and sELFie was from the 2015 lineup.
