Seas The Day Collection
I have the upcoming KBShimmer Seas The Day Collection to share with you all this evening, and if you like tropical shades – then this one’s for you.
The KBShimmer Seas The Day Collection consists of 7 bright but sun bleached shades, similar to pastel neon like colors. They are bright but subdued at the same time. There are also 3 multichrome flakie toppers to go with those 7 sun bleached cremes.
Before we get going I want to say that I love the shades here. They do have a certain brightness that I love without being “in your face” neons. However, they do apply like typical pastel shades. They might take a little work. I tried a few different application methods, but ran across the same issue each time – a tad patchy and they didn’t self level easily for me. I suggest thin coats simply to avoid the ridges from self leveling issues, but you will have patchiness which results in needing 3 thin coats. You do want to allow each coat to fully dry (also where thin coats come in handy) otherwise you may drag or cause further patchiness. I’m saying this now and at the end of the post rather than each individual listing, because I experienced this across the board with the 7 sun bleached cremes.
With that said, this collection launches on June 14th, but let’s jump right into the collection now!
KBShimmer | Pink Or Swim
Pink Or Swim is a bright pink cream polish. Similar in color to a super faded pink highlighter. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
KBShimmer | Guava Nice Day
Guava Nice Day is a faded neon coral creme. The coral shade leans a touch more orange than pink in the coral family. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
KBShimmer | Papaya Don’t Preach
Papaya Don’t Preach is a bright faded orange cream creme. This had the easiest formula of the 7, but I still used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
KBShimmer | Sand By Me
Sand By Me is a bright banana yellow creme. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
KBShimmer | Lime All Right
Lime All Right is a bright, pastel lime green. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
KBShimmer | Harbor A Crush
Harbor A Crush is one of 2 shades in the collection that I didn’t find “bright” but still had that sun faded quality – it’s a softer, slightly dusty sky blue creme. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
KBShimmer | Bored Shorts
Bored Shorts is a faded orchid creme that leans more into pink territory. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
KBShimmer | Nauti Girl
Nauti Girl is the first of the multichrome flake shades I’ll be sharing. I did them all over black instead of the shades within the collection because black for me, generally shows the shifts better.
Nauti Girl is a multichrome flake polish that shift from fuchsia to leaf green to orange and gold and a slight touch of blue at extreme angles. I used 1 coat over KBShimmer Eclipse for these photos.
KBShimmer | Party Like A Guac Star
party Like A Guac Star is a multichrome flake polish that shifts from bright shades of green to lime to soft pink to gold and blue at extreme angles. I used 1 coat over KBShimmer Eclipse for these photos.
KBShimmer | Off Tropic
Off Tropic is a flake polish with a rainbow assortment of shifty flakes within. I used 1 coat over KBShimmer Eclipse for these photos.
KBShimmer | Seas The Day Collection
I’m just going to reiterate in case you skipped the top portion of talk. I do love the shades within the collection – they will make for fun nail art looks over the summer. The flakes applied with ease and were amazing, however I did find the sun bleached shades to apply patchy or didn’t self level easily. They take a little patience for me personally. 3 thin coats was the way to go for me, but in some of my photos you can see I still had minor self leveling issues. I will say that they did not apply chalky though, which I’ve run across with pastel like shades or “sun bleached” neons before. They are actually nicely pigmented without that chalky look.
KBShimmer is one of my favorite indie brands, so it hurts my heart a little to say I had some issues. Maybe it was just me and how I apply? I don’t know, but I need to be honest in my thoughts and experiences when swatching.
My Top Picks: Guava Nice Day, Lime All Right and Papaya Don’t Preach.
