Happy Thursday! We’re getting closer and closer to Thanksgiving and it’s been a whirlwind here. Today we’re going to be looking at the upcoming KBShimmer Northern Exposure Collection.

The KBShimmer Northern Exposure collection is a flurry of reflective glitters, shimmers and magnetics… plus 2 new magnetic devices. This collection features 9 new polishes – including a silver reflective topper so you can make any polish reflective!

All of the reflectives do dry with a very mild texture. I apply in thin coats and I find the texture is so mild that I can do 1 coat of top coat and be just fine. If you do thicker coats though, KBShimmer does have Smooth Moves Smoothing Top Coat (this will need a glossy top coat over it though… it’s not meant to be the final layer) to help fill in the little nooks and crannies for a smooth, plump mani. As always, you can also top that smoothing layer with KBShimmer Clearly On Top for a nice, glassy finish. Smooth moves will work with the top coat of your choice though if you don’t have Clearly On Top.

For the magnetic polishes – please expect the magnetic particles to disperse a bit and almost “blur” like over time. I took these photos within about 10 minutes of doing the magnetic design so it’s only dispersed a bit, but magnetic polishes do tend to not hold as crisp of a line.

You can view these live swatched below:

KBShimmer | Northern Exposure

Northern Exposure is a purple jelly base with holo micro flakes, as well as shimmer that shifts red to gold to green to blue. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

KBShimmer | Paired Up

Paired Up is a medium purple jelly base loaded with holo flakes, as well as magenta to copper to gold shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

KBShimmer | Yes We Cran

Yes We Cran is a vibrant fuchsia pink jelly base loaded with orange to gold to red shimmer flecks. I used s coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

KBShimmer | How Polarizing

How Polarizing is a deep blue jelly base loaded with teal to blue to purple to green magnetic pigment, as well as micro holo flakes. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

I only magnetized the center 2 nails so you can see it both ways – for the magnetized nails, I used the zig zag magnet that will also be available in the KBShimmer shop!

KBShimmer | Let’s Hang

Let’s Hang is a deep forest green jelly base loaded with green to teal to blue magnetic pigment, as well as a mix of flakes that flash all colors of the rainbow. I used 2 coats and a glossy tp coat for these photos.

I only magnetized the center 2 nails so you can see it both ways – for the magnetized nails, I used the zig zag magnet that will also be available in the KBShimmer shop!

KBShimmer | Chill Out

Chill Out is a medium sky blue jelly base loaded with gold to red to pink to orange multichrome shimmer, as well as silver reflective glitters. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

KBShimmer | Logging Off

Logging Off is a cool toned deep green jelly base with green reflective glitters. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

The base color of this is almost into teal territory – but not quite – there are definite blue tones while still staying green

KBShimmer | Slush Fund

Slush Fund is a pale golden brown jelly base loaded with orange to red to gold shifting shimmer and gold reflective glitters. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

KBShimmer | Out of Sequins

Out of Sequins is a silver reflective topper so you can turn any polish into a reflective one. I used 1 coat over a purple creme for these photos.

KBShimmer | Magnet Stand

A very common thing we hear is that many people touch the magnet to the nail when trying to magnetize polish. This might be due to shaky hands, not paying attention or just not realizing how close you are to the magnet. This stand has a small neodymium magnet and you can easily slide your painted finger under the magnet to get that design and it’s a fairly safe distance away.

You can also change the magnet out if you want to use a different style (ring, larger bar, arc etc) while still being able to use the stand.

KBShimmer | ZigZag Magnet

I found this style of magnet about 3 months ago and … I love it. One side creates a zigzag/swervy wervy design and the other is a pretty nice catseye / bar magnet. For the zigzag, I hold the wand diagonal and fairly close to the nail. The closer to the nail, the tighter the zigzag. The further – the looser the S style it is. The bar side is nice to place under the finger so the magnetic pull comes through the finger and the line forms while you paint.

I cannot get the zigzag side to pull a design through the finger because I don’t believe the magnetic pull is strong enough. The bar side does though.

KBShimmer | Northern Exposure Collection

I don’t know about you guys – but I’m still into reflectives and magnetics – so this collection is another hit with me. My top picks are Chill Out, How Polarizing, Let’s Hang and Northern Exposure.
