Good morning and Happy Monday! We’re going to be going strong this week, as I have a lot to share. To start though, I want to explain the ‘Sponsored’ tag at the top. While this post itself isn’t a sponsored one, there was monetary compensation offered to complete the swatches by a certain date. My review will still be unbiased, but I do need to make my audience aware of that little bit.
We’re going to be look at the KBShimmer License To Chill collection this morning!
This is a 9 piece collection, but it’s also the introduction for KBShimmer’s new Free & Clear Top Coat! I used the top coat for all swatches in this post.
Now, initial assessment – it looks cloudy. Luckily, it’s only in the bottle and only slightly. It doesn’t translate as cloudy onto the nail, and I believe Nichole of BedlamBeauty mentioned that it’s common for 5 Free ingredients, and over time the cloudiness clears up. Like I said though, on the nail, I didn’t notice any cloudiness.
Now, Free & Clear is a fast dry top coat in a non yellowing formula that gives a nice, wet, juicy, plump look. I didn’t find it that much different than KBShimmer’s normal QDTC other than it took a minute or two longer to dry for me. That’s not much time if you are looking at the advantages of 5 Free.

KBShimmer | License To Chill
License To Chill is a white crelly base with red, orange, pink and gold iridescent flakes. This shade is on the sheerer side, and I got good opacity in 3 thin coats, but a hint of VNL is still there – so if you have a stronger nail line, you may need thicker coats.
KBShimmer | I’m sMitten
I’m sMitten is a pale, warm lavender crelly base with subtle red to orange to gold to lime shifting shimmer, as well as holo microglitters. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
KBShimmer | Under Cover
Under Cover is a warm, purpley wine linear holographic with a blue and red flame. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
KBShimmer | Stay Toasty My Friends
Stay Toasty My Friends is a warm, vibrant pink to peachy orange to gold shifting multichrome with holographic micro glitters scattered in. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
KBShimmer | Living The Hygge Life
Living The Hygge Life is a pine green jelly base loaded with red to copper to orange to lime to gold shifting shimmer and holo micro flecks. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
KBShimmer | I Feel Pine (Magnetic)
I Feel Pine is the lonely magnetic in the group – but it carries itself well. This is a muted grape purple look with bronze and green shimmer when left alone (like on index and pinky) and when a magnet is applied, it makes way for a strong emerald green base and a magnetic shimmery line that shifts pink, peach, gold, rose and some deep purple. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
KBShimmer | All Downhill From Here
All Downhill From Here is a vibrant medium blue with an almost metallic look to it, that shifts to a rich indigo, and has a lovely aqua shimmer and a scattering of holo micro glitters. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
KBShimmer | Everyday I’m Shovelin’
Everyday I’m Shovelin’ is a strong medium pewter base with bold sky blue to royal blue to orchid purple shifting shimmer, and micro silver holo flake. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Under Pressure is a silver metallic linear holographic. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

So many pretties, but I had my favorites picked out almost right away. I’m sMitten, Everyday I’m Shovelin’ and I Feel Pine are my top 3.
I had no application issues to mention, and all 9 sets of photos were done using the new Free & Clear top coat.
