Indulge In At Home Self-Care

It’s finally starting to feel like Fall, and while I love the cooler weather and all the salted caramel (yeah, I’m not a pumpkin spice girl) it’s also fairly hectic. School is about to start, and that means this mom is going to be all over the place, especially with distance learning.

I don’t mind the thought of distance learning, but it also means that I need to take the time and take care of myself too. This is a new school year (my son is now in high school!) Things are about to get crazy, so I have to remember to take a little “me time” every now and again. Even the smallest things can be considered self-care and they give me a little boost when I need it (and sometimes when I don’t realize I need it)

We’re going to take a look at some of my favorite self-care products… with a Fall twist. Everything I’m about to show you is easy to incorporate into your daily routine too.

Hair Color Refresh with E-Salon

Just recently I realized it’s been over 2 years since I colored my hair. I used to do it on my own regularly, and suddenly life got busy… and I stopped. When I used to regularly, I always did it at home and Nick usually helped out. It was time I got back into that.

I did the typical thing… Spring and Summer I went lighter and Fall and Winter I would go darker, and that still holds true. I love dark hair in the Fall!

For the first time, I decided to try e-Salon. This is a little bit different than running to the drug store and just snagging a box of hair dye that you think might work. e-Salon creates made-to-order, custom hair color for you specifically. To get started, you head to their website and register. Then you go through a quiz so they get a feel for your hair.. type, length, thickness and what your color goal is. You can even upload a selfie of your current hair so they can see what they’re working with.

Your personal colorist will go over all the info provided and formulate a color just for you.

It’s that easy.

My box arrived with everything I needed, clearly labeled with instructions and a personalized touch. Aside from the color, it also included 2 pairs of non latex gloves, stain guard for your skin around your hairline, stain remover, shampoo and conditioner packets.

I really wanted darker hair for Fall, and I got it. Check out the before & after below:

I feel like it still looks very natural, it covered my few grey hairs beautifully… and its dark without being overly dramatic. Perfect for Fall!

Looking for a color refresh? Let e-Salon help you out! I’ll definitely be heading back again.

Catching Up On A Good Book | A Fool’s Paradise from Robyn Williams

I’ve always been a book worm. When I get free time, I love to snuggle up with a good book, and I love a variety of genres. My most recent book is A Fool’s Paradise from Robyn Williams.

I just started this on Wednesday and have been finding extra little pockets of time to read a chapter when I can. So far, I’m loving it.

Robyn Williams’ A Fool’s Paradise melds passion, suspense and the supernatural as Dr. Aaryn Jamison, one of the nation’s most prominent African American physicians, meet Jayson Denali, internationally acclaimed Academy award winning actor. The characters’ stories of growing up poor, becoming self-aware survivors, trusting in mentors along the way and then strangely falling for them are so relatable, one becomes an unwitting passenger on the tumultuous journey borne between this book’s two covers.

From what I’ve read so far, it’s easy to connect with these characters and smile at their high points and feel your heart break a little at their low points. You read about their relationships from a refreshing perspective and I am really enjoying Robyn Williams writing style. It’s my first book by this author, but I will have to check out more when I finish A Fool’s Paradise.

You can purchase the ebook for A Fool’s Paradise here for only $4.49.

Clean & Germ Free with Born Basic Hand Sanitizer

Hand Sanitizer has been a staple in our home since Jacob was born. I got in the habit of always keep it around and even having a lot of back ups. Jacob has kept a small bottle with him since starting school as well.

One thing any of my readers know or recently figured out… hand sanitizer can really dry out your hands and nails. This is why I enjoy Born Basic though. Born Basic Hand Sanitizer is 62% instead of 70% alcohol or 65% alcohol – which is more moisturizing with less alcohol content but still effectively kills germs per FDA guidelines.

It’s also affordable. I’m a single mom, I like affordable. You can grab a 33 oz bottle for $5.99, a 16.9 oz bottle for $3.99 or a 3 oz bottle for $1.99.

That’s not too shabby.

I have all 3, and I keep the 33 oz bottle on the kitchen island as a common area for anyone to use. The 16.9 oz bottle is in Jacob’s room and the 3 oz bottle stays in my purse.

You can find Born Basic exclusively at Target stores, but you can also visit their site at www.bornbasicproducts.com.

Nail & Foot Repair from Kerasal

We all know I have the nail polish to make my toes pretty… but do I have anything to make my feet soft and pretty too? Yes I do. Kerasal Intensive Foot Repair is perfect for at home pedicures or just for dry cracked feet if pedicures aren’t your thing.

Kerasal Intensive Foot Repair is an exfoliating moisturizer that is clinically proven to hydrate and moisturize dry, cracked feet, while also exfoliating dead skin away. It’s easy to use too – apply to clean, dry feet and massage in until fully absorbed. For better results, put on some clean cotton socks after.

That’s it.

I personally enjoy doing an at home pedicure (self-care!) and then applying Kerasal Intensive Foot Repair after.

The second Kerasal item that I keep around is Kerasal Multi-Purpose Nail Repair.

Kerasal Multi-Purpose Nail Repair is a nail solution that is meant to improve the appearance of nails damaged by a variety of conditions, like Psoriasis, gel manicures, aging, or fungus.

It can also reduce discoloration, normalizes thickness, as well as smooth and hydrates. Plus it penetrates the nail to restore their healthy appearance.

Tip: Visible improvements can be seen after one week of application. Continue use for
up to 3 to 6 months for full effect.

The Perfect Pout with Lip Plumping Gloss | Grande Cosmetics

I’m one of those people that love lip products. I have a giant stash of glosses, lipsticks, lip oils… in a huge variety of color. But I always carry a clear gloss with me. While I love all the colors and finishes, I prefer clear and glossy and a little plumping.

GrandeLIP Hydrating Lip Plumper is a high gloss, volumizing lip plumper infused with a nourishing cocktail of VolulipTM and hyaluronic acid for instant and long-term hydrating benefits. It instantly plumps lips in 3-5 minutes, with no pain and no strings attached. It’s cruelty free, and it has short and long term hydrating benefits (and we need the hydration as the weather gets chillier.)

I also love the applicator for this, it’s easy to clean and works so well!

Right now, you can also enjoy 10% off your entire purchase at Grande Cosmetics too if you use the code SELFCARE10.

Now it’s your turn… what are some of your favorite Fall self-care products?
