Another long day of hauling out unwanted things! I found a lot more palettes (did you know I bought the Gwen Stefani Urban Decay palette? Neither did I) and other cosmetics that are still in boxes. I think I have a serious problem. If you think my polish collection is massive… you haven’t seen my cosmetics collection. It’s getting kind of insane. I sat on the floor of the living room sorting through my MAC collection and opened each lipstick and sniffed them all to see if they were still okay or not. Out of about 200 MAC lipsticks (about 70 of which I’ve never worn and are still in their boxes) only 8 no longer had the vanilla smell. I’ll call that a win.
We also got my son’s remaining back to school shopping done. We got up early this morning and went to the mall (ugh… I don’t like the mall) and got him clothes and new shoes. Of course he picked out some expensive Nike shoes and all I have to say is they better hold up better than the last pair he owned.
Anyways – I know that’s not what you are all here to see, so I’ll cut the chatter. Tonight I have The Holo Hookup September 2017 Royal Women!
This month’s theme is Royal Women and each maker took on a different subject. Below is the inspiration photo. As usual I have the collage above in the same order as the inspiration collage below.
As always, I’ll do a quick rundown for those new to The Holo Hookup!
This is an all holographic box and each month it will have 3 constant indie makers in it – Glisten & Glow, DIFFERENT dimension and Cupcake Polish. Each month there will also be one “guest” contributor, and for September 2017 the guest maker is Takko Lacquer!
I actually only own maybe 5 Takko Lacquer shades. Every time I went for a restock I was simply too slow or had the date wrong.
Let’s see what they have in store for us!
Cupcake Polish – Cleopatra
Cupcake Polish Cleopatra is a medium turquoise linear holographic with gold shimmer mixed in. This one has a very lovely blue flame to it. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Different Dimension – Queen Nefertiti
Different Dimension Queen Nefertiti is a blue to violet purple to a coppery red multichrome linear holographic with silver holographic microglitter. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Glisten & Glow – Queen Elizabeth I
Glisten & Glow Queen Elizabeth I is a gorgeous vampy creation! This is a deep red leaning berry linear holographic with copper shimmer mixed in so you get a flash of copper when wiggling your fingers around. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Takko Lacquer – Rani of Jhansi
Takko Lacquer Rani of Jhansi is a medium cool toned pink scattered holographic with green to pink shifting shimmer in it. The holo is a bit more subtle in this shade that the other 3, but it works well to let the shimmer shine through. This one dries down to a semi matte formula and it dries sort of quick. I had some self leveling issues with it because of the quicker dry time (you can see the lines on the sides of my nails) so be sure to work a little quick with this one.
I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
The Holo Hookup September 2017 Royal Women Overview
This is another good month to snag! I really feel like each of the main 3 makers played up to their strengths within this box. Cupcake Polish always does amazing bluish green shades, Different Dimension has some phenomenal multichromes and Glisten & Glow does a mean vampy holo shade. Takko Lacquer I’m not entirely familiar with, but aside from the dry time – the pink holo base with green to pink shimmer is rather lovely.
