September 2016 Art Inspired

If you follow The Holo Hookup on Facebook, or some of the contributors’ fan groups (Cupcake Polish or Different Dimension), then you’ve already seen some of my swatches for this! But now I have the full review of The Holo Hookup September 2016 Art Inspired! Joining Cupcake Polish, DIFFERENT dimension and Glisten & Glow this month is Vapid Lacquer!

Quick rundown for those new to The Holo Hookup!

This is an all holographic box and each month it will have 3 constant indie makers in it – Glisten & Glow, DIFFERENT dimension and Cupcake Polish. Each month there will also be one “guest” contributor, and for September 2016 the guest is Vapid Lacquer! 

Each of The Holo Hookup Boxes have a theme, and this months theme is ‘Art Inspired”

I combined the inspiration photo with the swatch collage so you can see which is which above, but just in case, here is an unobstructed view of this months inspiration

Let’s take a closer look at each creation.

Cupcake Polish – Bad Hare Day

Bad Hare Day is an ivory linear holographic with copper micro flecks throughout. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This shade was based on Robert Deyber’s painting Bad Hare Day.

DIFFERENT dimension – Monroe

Monroe is a light, but vibrant tiffany blue linear holographic with silver shimmer, as well as silver holographic and neon pink matte microglitters. I used 2 coats and 2 coats of top coat for a completely smooth finish.

Monroe was based on Andy Warhol’s Monroe.

Glisten & Glow – The Abstract Expressionist

The Abstract Expressionist is a deep berry linear holographic with gold and purple shimmer added in. I used 3 thin coats (2 normal coats would work fine as well) and a glossy top coat for these photos.

 

Vapid Lacquer – Dali’s Elephants

Dali’s Elephants is a classic, warm red orange linear holographic. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

I have a confession… this is my first Vapid. Every time I see one I want and go to buy it, it’s gone so I haven’t made a purchase. I did join the fan group recently though so I can be on top of releases better in order to snag what I want in the future.

The Holo Hookup September 2016 Art Inspired Overview

First off – great mix of colors. We have light, bright and semi vampy in this box and loving the art inspiration for the colors. I had no application issues with any of the shades either. I also got to try Vapid Lacquer for the first time, and was pleasantly surprised at how nice application was.
