Nine Zero joins Different Dimension, Cupcake Polish and Glisten & Glow this month as they take on 4 different types of birds. Below is the collage of inspiration images and they are in the same order as my polish collage above.

Quick rundown for those new to The Holo Hookup!

This is an all holographic box and each month it will have 3 constant indie makers in it – Glisten & GlowDIFFERENT dimension and Cupcake Polish. Each month there will also be one “guest” contributor, and for November 2016 the guest is Nine Zero Lacquer!

I’m personally not a huge bird person. I think they are pretty but I really don’t know species outside of the basic ones, so I learned about 3 new ones for me.

Let’s take a closer look at each shade

Cupcake Polish – Flamingo

You can probably figure out that this was the bird I knew.

Cupcake Polish took on Flamingo and this is a bright pinkish orange linear holographic. I find this shade to be really pretty and I honestly don’t know if I have any pinky orange shades in my collection. It’s almost coral like, but most I have are more red I believe. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

DIFFERENT dimension – Pygmy Kingfisher

Pretty much anything with the word “Pygmy” in it reminds me of my boss that passed away a couple of years ago. Almost all the women in our office are the same height (5’2″) and one of my coworkers was really close to him, and he use to call her a pygmy because of her height. When I saw the name of this polish, I heard “Pygmy” in his voice.

Anyways, on with the polish. DIFFERENT dimension took on Pygmy Kingfish and this is a red to orange to yellow multichrome linear holographic. The holo is incredibly strong in this one and the shift is more on the subtle side. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Glisten & Glow – Purple Grenadier

Glisten & Glow tackled the Purple Grenadier! This is a medium purple linear holographic with added shimmers as well as cherry galaxy glitters. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Nine Zero – Masked Flowerpiercer

For some reason this name makes me giggle and think of a little bird with a mask running around with a little sword ‘piercing’ things. I don’t know. This is the kind of stuff I picture when I’m sleep deprived.

Nine Zero took on the Masked Flowerpiercer. This is a cerulean blue linear holographic. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This polish has a serious glowy look to it.

The Holo Hookup November 2016 Birds Of A Feather Overview

holo-hookup-november-2016-macro-collage

To be perfectly honest, these weren’t the colors or the theme I was expecting for Fall. I think I’m so use to deeper shades coming in, that when I pulled these out I was a little surprised. Not in a bad way, of course. I think they covered a lot of the main Fall type shades in last months box, so doing another theme requiring darker shades would seem a bit repetitive. I do like this mix of color and all 4 have a medium to strong holo to them. I had no application issues, and I was pretty happy that I got to try another Nine Zero shade (this is my second one.)

I love inspiration collections. The impetus for this one is terrific. I like ’em all but the Pygmy Kingfisher is my fave.

Seriously, Different Dimensions has won my heart over once again. I was just on the site lastnight, I don’t recall seeing this shade, so I’ll be looking for it the next time.
