I did a sneak peek of one of my top picks from this collection in the Great Lakes Lacquer group yesterday and was just itching to release the whole post! So for those waiting, here is the Great Lakes Lacquer Polishing Poetic Collection!
The Great Lakes Lacquer Polishing Poetic Collection is an 8 piece collection of multichromes. Some are subtle shifts, some are more extreme. I definitely found some favorites within this collection though!
I did a few different photos for each polish, but keep in mind I work all day so natural lighting for photos isn’t always available to me. With my light set up, most multichromes don’t shift when I take a straight shot, so glance through the angled photos for a better idea of the shift.
Let’s take a look!
Ease One Life The Aching
Ease One Life The Aching is a multichrome linear holographic that shifts from purple to pink to orange to gold. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.
I Carry Your Heart
I Carry Your Heart is a multichrome that shifts from purple to fuchsia to red to gold to bronze. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
In A Handful Of Dust
In A Handful Of Dust is a multichrome that shifts from maroon to fuchsia to orange to gold to green at an extreme angle. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
A heap of broken images, where the sun beats,
And the dead tree gives no shelter, the cricket no relief,
And the dry stone no sound of water. Only
There is shadow under this red rock,
(Come in under the shadow of this red rock),
And I will show you something different from either
Your shadow at morning striding behind you
Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you;
I will show you fear in a handful of dust.

Leaves No Step Had Trodden Black
Leaves No Step Had Trodden Black is one of the more subtle shifters. It DOES shift, but not as obvious as the rest. This is a deep grass green multichrome that shifts from gold to green to aqua blue. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. Visible brush strokes are noticeable with this shade as well.
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I —
I took the one less travelled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Like Air, I’ll Rise
Like Air, I’ll Rise is a multichrome linear holographic that shifts from sea green to aqua to pink to purple to gold. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I’ll rise.
The Centre Cannot Hold
The Centre Cannot Hold is a multichrome linear holographic that shifts from reddish pink to gold to green. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

The Tune Without Words
The Tune WIthout Words is another subtler shifting shade. This one shifts from a royal blue to aqua to purple and hints of orange at an extreme angle. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
That perches in the soul—
And sings the tune without the words—
And never stops—at all—
The Dying Of The Light
The Dying Of The Light is probably my top pick of the collection. This is an inky dark blue base and the shimmer within shifts from purple to red to orange to gold to green. This has more of a deep jelly base, so I did need 3 coats for it
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Great Lakes Lacquer Polishing Poetic Collection Overview
This collection has a wonderful assortment of multichromes. I had no real application issues with any of these shades and almost all of them were completely opaque in 2 coats. The Dying Of The Light had more of a jelly base, which is the only reason it needed 3 coats.
Price: $11.00-$12.00 Each

Always a pleasure Mariah! Thank you!
Wow, they’re all so gorgeous! I think my favorites at this point are I Carry Your Heart and Like Air, I’ll Rise, but I see myself buying several :) great swatches!
Those are both beautiful picks! Like Air, I’ll Rise has a beautiful, softer quality about it and the holo is just magnificent!
The Centre Cannot Hold and The Dying of the Light are my favorites. Gorgeous collection.
