Happy Friday! I have about 4 posts lined up to do today, so we’re starting bright and early. My son’s school starts at 7:20 now and it’s in person – so I drop him off around 7 and head to work – so I’m here early with my coffee and no one else is around yet. We are kicking off the day with Fandom Flakies Box for September 2021 and the theme this month is Coraline!

I have noticed that the Fandom Flakies Box Fan Group on Facebook is gaining some new faces – so I’m going to explain the box a little more. I think I backed off since most seemed to know the drill, but based on some questions – there are enough new faces to rehash it all.

So basically Fandom Flakies Box has 2 constant makers – Night Owl Lacquer and Bee’s Knees Lacquer. Ribbits Stickits is also a familiar face to the box bring fun add ons to the box to really bring the theme to life. Then there is a guest maker. The guest maker each month picks the theme for the box and the themes range from video games to tv shows to movies. Sometimes others – but those are the most common. Basically anything with a possible “fandom” is fair game in this box.

Every month when the shop opens there are 40 Ready To Ship boxes made. Usually it will be said as “RTS” and that’s what that means. They are ready to go.

When you purchase a box, you will only receive the 3 polishes. It’s a flat rate of $30 plus shipping for the 3 polishes, and if you want to add Ribbits Stickits goodies – then the price goes up depending on what is added. But the baseline is $30 for the 3 polishes shown.

Once the 40 RTS boxes are gone – they essentially go into preorder. The preordered boxes will ship between 2-4 weeks after the shop closes. They do aim for sooner but as we all know – USPS has a mind of it’s own and it’s just not always possible.

All polishes within the box are exclusive to the box. I believe the Ribbits Stickits items are as well – but I would need to confirm that 100%. I don’t think I’ve seen those goodies out in the wild after a box closes for the month.

Now, onto this month – Nailed It Nail Polish is the guest maker, so they will be joining Night Owl Lacquer and Bee’s Knees Lacquer. Nailed It Nail Polish selected Coraline as the fandom, so it’s all things Coraline this time around.

Let’s jump in, the box releases in just a couple hours. Hey – I’m last minute but I’m still on time. Kinda.

Bee’s Knees Lacquer | You’re Not My Mother

You’re Not My Mother is a deep, vampy purple jelly base loaded with soft silver to pink to red to green shifting flakes that range from small to large in size. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

The consistency of this jelly base perfectly suspends these flakes, I was expecting a little more texture since they look a lot larger but this polish dried down to a nice, juicy looking finish.

Night Owl Lacquer | Be Careful What You Wish For

Be Careful What You Wish For is a medium-deep grey crelly base with charcoal flecks, as well as fuchsia to purple to blue crystal chameleon flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

The flakes in this one really pop against the stormy base.

Nailed It Nail Polish | Buttons for Eyes

Buttons for Eyes is a turquoise jelly base loaded with copper to gold to green crystal flakes and holo flecks. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

The base color for this isn’t super vibrant but it plays well with the vibrant flakes and really lets them shine.

Ribbits Stickits | Acetone Additive

Acetone Additive is a small vial of liquid that you shake up and pour into your acetone to lessen the harsh effects. It takes away that ashy look acetone can leave behind on your skin, plus gives a burst of scent to sort of cover up the smell of acetone.

If you are new to Acetone Additive, I suggest you shake the vial, pour in half, test the acetone and then pour in more as you see fit.

This month’s scent is Welcome Home which is a mix of birthday cake, sweet vanilla buttercream, and a subtle spice. If you like sweet birthday cake like scents – you will love this. The sweet vanilla buttercream is the strongest note for my nose. It’s sweet but warm and comforting at the same time.

Ribbits Stickits | Un-frog-gettable Hand and Cuticle Cream

This hand and cuticle cream is thick enough so it can be used every day in small amounts, or slather it on at night for a more intensive treatment.

The scent is the same as the acetone additive – a mix of birthday cake, sweet vanilla buttercream, and a subtle spice. If you like sweet birthday cake like scents – you will love this. The sweet vanilla buttercream is the strongest note for my nose. It’s sweet but warm and comforting at the same time.

This is an add on item for $6.50 (it is 2 ounces)

Ribbits Stickits | Vinyl Stickers

Ribbits Stickits brought 2 Vinyl Decals to the box as well this month – Sew the Buttons Vinyl and Buttons for Eyes Vinyl. Both are about the size of my palm. Instructions are included on how to use.

Both vinyls are shiny black with blue holo elements.

Ribbits Stickits | Water Slide Decal Duo

Last but not least is my favorite part of the add ons – the water slide decals!

I want to start off with the fact that Ribbits Stickits changed their water slide decals last month, and they are printed on a different transfer paper. They are thinner so when you apply to the nail you don’t get that image outline from the decal. They hug your nail and look nice. The only thing I will say though – They fold in on themselves easier if you go at it all willy nilly – so pay attention when you do placement and beware of that.

These do come with instructions and are fun to use!

Now.. you may notice my middle nail looks a bit… blurry. This is not the fault of the decals. I got my PPU order in with my Apipila No Smudge and was like “Oh this should work with the decals.

I was wrong.

I did a thin layer of Apipila No Smudge to my middle nail, and while it did not smudge – it made the image bleed for some reason. The rest of the nails I used Vibrant Vinyls Fast & Hard QDTC and they are fine. But that middle one didn’t make it.

These decals are also add ons and will be $13.00 for the duo.
