Happy Sunday! One last post and video this weekend … and it’s the Fandom Flakies Box for February 2023 with a theme of Doctor Strange!

If you are newer here, let’s go over the Fandom Flakies basics! So basically Fandom Flakies Box has 2 constant makers – Night Owl Lacquer and Bee’s Knees Lacquer. Ribbits Stickits is also a familiar face to the box – bringing fun add ons to the box to really bring the theme to life. Then there is a guest maker. The guest maker each month picks the theme for the box and the themes range from video games to tv shows to movies. Sometimes others – but those are the most common. Basically anything with a possible “fandom” is fair game in this box.
Every month when the shop opens there are 40 Ready To Ship boxes made. Usually it will be said as “RTS” and that’s what that means. They are ready to go.
When you purchase a box, you will only receive the 3 polishes. It’s a flat rate of $33 plus shipping for the 3 polishes, and if you want to add Ribbits Stickits goodies – then the price goes up depending on what is added. But the baseline is $33 for the 3 polishes shown.
Want only the Ribbits Stickits addons? That’s perfectly fine – you can buy those alone as well.
Once the 40 RTS boxes are gone – they essentially go into preorder. The preordered boxes will ship between 2-4 weeks after the shop closes. They do aim for sooner but as we all know – USPS has a mind of its own and it’s just not always possible.
All polishes within the box are exclusive to the box. I believe the Ribbits Stickits items are as well.
You can also sign up for subscriptions! This allows you to basically auto pay for the box each month to be sure you don’t miss it. Each month the subscription auto renews on the 13th (or 15th?) and you have until the 1st of the month to “pause” the sub if you don’t want the next one. There are 2 subscription options, the $33.00 options for just the 3 polishes, and there is a $43.00 options where you receive the 3 polishes and $10 worth of Ribbits Stickits goodies (usually water slide decals or vinyl sticker)

Bee’s Knees Lacquer | I Do It And I Become The Enemy
I Do It And I Become The Enemy is a warm toned red jelly base with red to green multichrome flakes, holo micro flakes and matte black flakes. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Night Owl Lacquer | It’s Not About You
It’s Not About You is a black jelly base loaded with gold to bronze to copper to green micro fleck shimmer, as well as holographic micro flakes. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Kathleen & Co | Gap Junction
Gap Junction is a medium purple jelly base loaded with holo flecks, pink and orange iridescnet flakes, aqua to blue iridescent microflakes and black matte flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Ribbits Stickits | Vinyl Sticker
The Vinyl sticker this month is a black holo “Oh For Fox Sake” vinyl. Instructions on how to apply will be included, but for slimmer cut vinyls like this, before tearing the backing off all willy nilly – slowly peel the paper back and make sure all the slim black holo image and lettering is still stuck to the grid portion. Before I peel it off, I use a stamping scraper and scrape over the top (with the backing still on) to be sure to press it into the tacky paper so it comes up clean.
If you start to peel the back off and see some of the lettering is sticking to the paper backing, put it back into place with the grid tack paper and press it down and try again.

Ribbits Stickits | Acetone Additive
Frogetaboutit Acetone Additive is a small vial of liquid that you shake up and pour into your acetone to lessen the harsh effects. It takes away that ashy look acetone can leave behind on your skin, plus gives a burst of scent to sort of cover up the smell of acetone.
If you are new to Acetone Additive, I suggest you shake the vial, pour in half, test the acetone and then pour in more as you see fit. Depending on your skin type and what type of remover you use, the amount of additive needed with vary. If you tend to have oily skin – too much will make you oily, too little and it won’t seem like you used any. It’s a balancing act so add a little, test and add more as needed.
The February scent is Endless, Looped Time. The scent is described as top notes of almond, Bergamot. Middle notes of Coconut, Shea, Amber, Honey, Coriander. Base notes of Cedar, Sandalwood, Light Musk, Tonka Bean, Wood, Tobacco, Oud.
If we’re being honest, this reminds me of Berkeley, CA. I grew up near there and some shops smell like Nag Champa … others smell kinda like this. I get the cedar and sandalwood and tobacco – but there’s also a clean soap like undertone to this additive. It’s mildly sweet, smokey musk and.. soapy. I’m usually not one for Sandalwood mixes but this is pleasant and reminds me of the area I grew up.

Ribbits Stickits | Water Slide Decals
for February there is one Doctor Strange themed water slide decal sheet.
These are like temporary tattoos for your nails. I usually cut the image I want off the sheet, set in water for 10-15 seconds, then remove the image from water and place face down on a stamping head. Then I slide the paper backing off leaving just the image on the stamper. Then I stamp the image down onto my nail firmly, lift stamper and then top coat.

I’ll admit, I know nothing about Doctor Strange. At all. I know who plays him… that’s about it. But I still enjoy this box. I’ll have to add this to the list of things to watch too.
