Happy Sunday! The school year is winding down, so Jacob has been keeping me really busy this week. I managed to get a few swatches done, with plans of getting a lot more done throughout today. First up is the Essie Summer 2017 Collection!
The Essie Summer 2017 Collection consists of 6 polishes (which is typical of Essie) inspired by the sugary sweet indulgences of Paris. When I received this collection I was really excited for the orange shade, Fondant of You. Let’s see if that ended up being my top pick though…
Essie Baguette Me Not
Essie Baguette Me Not is a pink toned lilac cream. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
I had some slight self leveling issues with this shade.
Essie Sweet Soufflé
Essie Sweet Soufflé is a little tricky for me. In some lighting it looks like an EXTREMELY pale baby blue, but in others it looks like pearly white. It is packed with a coppery red and gold shimmer.
Essie Sweet Soufflé reminds me of a super pale version of China Glaze Snow Way! or a less shimmery version of OPI Oh My Majesty!
I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. It was a bit streaky on the first coat, but after that it built up nicely.
Essie Blue-La-La
Essie Blue-La-La is a vivid medium sky blue creme. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. I had mild self leveling issues with this shade.
Essie S’Il Vous Play
Essie S’Il Vous Play is a pinky lilac foil finish. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. I’m not personally a foil finish person, but this actually looks really nice on me.
I’m crunched for time right now, but when a window opens up I want to do a little nail art with Baguette Me Not and this shade.
Essie Éclair My Love
Essie Éclair My Love is a bright, slightly muted pink leaning red. In the bottle it looked pinker, but when I applied it a lot more red came out. I used 2 easy coats and a glossy top coat.
This might be one of my go to Summer pedicure colors!
Essie Fondant Of You
Essie Fondant of You is a vivid medium apricot orange packed with golden shimmer. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. It didn’t self level very well, but the color more than makes up for that.
Essie Summer 2017 Collection Overview
As a color selection, I really loved this collection. Application could use a bit of work, half of the shades didn’t want to self level very nicely, but with top coat they worked out. The colors are really rich and vivid, and the shimmery shades packed a nice little punch.
From my understanding, this collection is set to release in June, but I have seen it pop up in a couple shops already. If you haven’t seen it yet, you should start seeing them in a couple weeks.
My Top Picks: Fondant Of You, Sweet Souffle and Blue-La-La
Price: $8.50 Each
