Happy.. Tuesday? Yes it’s Tuesday. My days are getting all mixed up. Tonight I have a hand and nail care trio to review for you! We’ll be looking at the Dark Moon Esscentuals Matte Cuticle Balm, Emulsified Lotion & Whipped Foaming Sugar Scrub!
Before we get into the nitty gritty of this, I will say that I’ve had these items for about a week – so I haven’t done extensive testing (primarily the lotion and cuticle balm) so everything in this post is initial reaction and only a few days worth of using. This is important to state because I cannot say whether they did anything improvement wise because that requires longer term use. I can only give the short term type review.
Dark Moon Esscentuals sent these 3 new products over for me to test out (again, short term) and see what I think of them. Right out of the gate – I opened each up to see what I was working with and they smell PHENOMENAL. That hit me immediately. They smell really good. Very tropical feeling, but not sugary tropical drink like.
Let’s take a look!
Dark Moon Esscentuals | Matte Mani Balm
Matte Mani Balm is a cuticle balm that doesn’t leave a greasy look. I actually went a tad overboard – so if you do like I do, just rub in like it’s lotion. When applied it does feel a little heavier, but once massaged in – it leaves your skin hydrated and non greasy.
This is especially good for swatchers who don’t want that greasy shine in photos after applying cuticle cream/balm/oil.
The first 3 photos show it after I applied, the final shows it after I massage it in.
I received this in the scent Pina Colada – and oh man. I smell the creamy coconut, a little pineapple and some vanilla. It’s really good.
Dark Moon Esscentuals | Whipped Foaming Sugar Scrub
Next up is the Whipped Foaming Sugar Scrub! This is a scrub that has oils and butters, as well as sugar to help rid yourself of dead skin cells and smooth your skin. When in contact with water – it lathers a bit.
I received this in Vanilla Pineapple Margarita and I need everything in this scent. Pina Colada is good – but Vanilla Pineapple Margarita is the best. My nose picks up the pineapple and lime and the tartness is softened with the vanilla. Trust me when I say – you need it in this scent.
Dark Moon Esscentuals | Emulsified Body Butter
The final item is Emulsified Body Butter. This is a nice, thick cream that almost feels hardened (it’s body butter, not lotion) but it starts to melt on contact with body heat. A little goes a long way – or else you will feel like a greasy mess. The little bit I show in the photo is all you need for your hands.
It feels good when massaged in and softened my hands, and had almost a powdery feel when dry.
I received this in the scent Lemon Drop and it smells like sugary lemons. My friends and I used to eat lemons like that… slice em up – load on sugar and chomp away. There also used to be a shot that we did – a Chocolate Cake shot. We had them for our birthdays. It was Hazelnut liqueur and vodka…. but you bite a sugared lemon and then take the shot and the mixture tasted like chocolate cake.
Now I want on. I haven’t had one in about 15 years.
Anyways – yes, lemon drop – smells just like sugared lemons.
How accurate are the scents? Mine didn’t actually say what they were – but I knew on sniffing exactly what scents I received. They are that close to the real thing.
All 3 items are really nice to use and smell yummy. I haven’t tested for longer than a few days – but I have used each one daily and they are working nicely. My favorite is actually the Whipped Foaming Scrub – my hands feel incredibly soft and smooth after using.
You can grab these now on the Dark Moon Esscentuals site individually or as a trio. I do recommend the Vanilla Pineapple Margarita scent.
