Cupcake Polish | Chess Collection

Press Sample of the Cupcake Polish
Chess Collection

Happy Sunday! Today I have the Cupcake Polish Chess Collection to share, and it’s already been released – so you are free to grab some goodies if you haven’t already!

Admittedly – I have never played Chess. My mom didn’t either, but I remember my step dad having a really fancy chess set on display when I was growing up (I’m pretty sure it’s in his home office now) but I personally never played. Nick plays and my son knows how to play though. Most of the terminology I learned from either Nick or Criminal Minds (Thank you Spencer Reid.)

The Cupcake Polish Chess Collection is a 6 piece collection inspired by the visual color palette of the Netflix series The Queens Gambit, but it also was inspired by the intricacies of the game of chess itself. Cupcake Polish drew more inspiration from the 50’s color palettes but with a unique shift aspect, or shimmer, which can be unexpected much like the next move in a game of chess.

As I mentioned, this set released already, so you can head over to snag some if you are partial to any or all! All links will be at the bottom of this post.

Cupcake Polish | Checkmate

Checkmate is a black jelly base packed with metallic silver and silver holographic micro and small flecks. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Cupcake Polish | King’s Gambit

King’s Gambit is actually one of my favorites from this release! King’s Gambit is an ivory crelly base loaded with red to orange to green to gold aurora shimmer, as well as red to orange to green to gold iridescent flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Cupcake Polish | Queening

Queening is a surprise favorite. Queening is a rusty brownish red jelly base with blue to purple to pink to orange shifting shimmer. I primarily saw blue to pink shifting shimmer, however blue was the dominant shade of shimmer shown. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Cupcake Polish | Sicilian Defense

Sicilian Defense is a candy pink crelly base with blue to green to orange shifting aurora shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Cupcake Polish | Stalemate

Stalemate is a teal crelly base with pink to red to orange iridescent shifting flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Cupcake Polish | Zugzwang

Zugzwang is a perwinkle blue crelly base loaded with red aurora shimmer and red to pale gold shifting iridescent flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Cupcake Polish | Chess Collection

I enjoy this color palette and the assortment. For me, it almost feels like Cupcake Polish covered almost all seasons in 1 collection.

OMG I used to totally fancy Dr Reid! Haha! These are gorgeous, really nice set. My dad tried to teach me chess, I know the basics!
