Press Sample of the Cupcake Polish
Bob Ross Collection
I have a series of posts to push through today – and there are so many stunning shades among the posts! First up we’re going to look at the Cupcake Polish Bob Ross Collection, which drops tonight!
When I saw the inspiration for this collection, it brought back some amazing memories. My grandma Carol was a painter and during the Summer I often stayed with my grandparents in Southern California. I remember Bob Ross being on and she wouldn’t paint along with him, but would just watch his technique and I remember his voice being so soothing.
One thing I’ve really loved about blogging for the indie polish community is how a collection like this can bring back memories that were a little dusty in the back of your mind. I’ve had it happen countless times – and this is one I’m surprised I tucked away, because it was a special time for me.
So the Cupcake Polish Bob Ross collection is inspired by everyone’s favorite art guru – Bob Ross. If you loved the Candy Land Collection that Cupcake Polish released, this collection has the same jelly based finish with holographic micro glitters, but in more Fall friendly shades.
Ready to take a look?
Cupcake Polish | Beauty is Everywhere
Beauty Is Everywhere is a pale, warm, sandy beige jelly base loaded with holo microglitter. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
This shade is my top pick of the collection. It’s a year round, all occasion kind of color.
Cupcake Polish | Pursue Your Talent
Pursue Your Talen is a mahogany brown jelly base loaded with holographic micro glitters. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Cupcake Polish | No Mistakes
No Mistakes is a warm, maple orange jelly base loaded with holographic microglitters. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
This shade is between a warm orange and medium brown. It’s interesting and quite pretty on – but not a common shade I own.
Cupcake Polish | Lets Get Crazy
Lets Get Crazy is a mustard yellow jelly base with holographic micro glitters mixed in. This is more toned down in person, but under lighting it does appear more gold in tone. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Cupcake Polish | Friends With Trees
Friends With Trees is an olive green jelly base with holographic micro glitters mixed in. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
My photos make this appear a touch darker olive than it is in person.
Cupcake Polish | Happy Little Accidents
Happy Little Accidents is a medium slate blue grey jelly base loaded with holographic microglitters. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Happy Little Accidents is my favorite phrase of Bob Ross’ and I love it as the name of a polish. A small part of me would envision this as an explosion of color in a bottle, but I suppose I still get that with the holo sparks shooting off colors all over the place.
Cupcake Polish | Bob Ross Collection
I really loved the Candy Land collection when it released a few years ago, so to see this finish now in a Fall palette is incredible. I would love a seasonal thing – like a winter set… ice blue, sheer milky white, dove grey… it would make my heart happy. I adore microglitter polishes so I was oohing and aahing over these for a bit.
Application wise, these were a breeze. The jelly bases are well pigmented while still allowing the microglitters to shine through, plus their consistency was just enough to allow the glitters to float without making the polish super textured when dried down. You will notice a very slight texture, but 1 coat of good top coat should smooth it over just perfect.
