Cosmetic Sanctuary Guest Blogger Series:  Nail Art with Set in Lacquer!

I decided to feature some Guest Bloggers on my blog!  To kick this off, I decided to start with a lovely lady who has become a close friend and one of my favorite bloggers – Kelly from Set In Lacquer!

When asked by the wonderful lady behind Cosmetic Sanctuary if I would do a guest post for her I happily said yes. But trying to come up with something creative and original was difficult. After several false starts I decided on a neutral yet classy design.

I applied a base color of Barielle Greenwich Village from the Fall 2012 collection. It is a gorgeous nude shade with a hint of dusty pink and shimmer.

After that dried I applied a Color Club glitter polish. I used a cosmetic sponge to apply the glitter to my nail tips. I like using a sponge for applying glitter to the tips as it gives me a lot more control and doesn’t leave a visible line. I really wish I could tell you the name but it is from one of the sets I purchased at Ross. Those sets don’t have the names on the bottle.

I let that dry and then used a coat of Seche Vite to seal the glitter and give me a smooth surface to work with.

Using a dotting tool and Barielle Erika’s Pencil Skirt polish I applied five dots in a circle for the flower petals. I also dotted a dab of Milani Gold Glitz in the center of each flower. To give the flower petals some dimension I used a small dot of Gold Glitz on top of each flower petal. Then I simply applied three dots of Erika’s Pencil Skirt from the flower to the opposite nail tip. Erika’s Pencil Skirt is a wonderful deep wine color. It has a jelly-like formula and that really makes the petals look like jewels. It doesn’t show in the photos though. I may have to try dotting with jellies more often.

I finished off this design with a top coat. I like to use Seche Vite as a top coat on nail art because I have found that it doesn’t smear the design.

It’s a super simple design. But I really enjoy how it turned out. This mani is subtle enough to wear in any environment. Yet it has the glitz to be worn out on the town.

Love it Kelly!!  Thank you so much!
