Press Sample of the Contrary Polish
A Gothic Winter Collection
I still have a few new releases set for tonight/early tomorrow and I’m trying to get them all up and posted! I swear Thanksgiving and Black Friday got here way too fast! Right now I have the Contrary Polish A Gothic Winter Collection to share with you, plus a free polish with the purchase of the entire collection!
Contrary Polish A Gothic Winter Collection is a 6 piece collection of deeper, vampy shades with holo flecks and shimmer. These are phenomenal! From the color to the application – everything is just perfection. And I think this is the only full vampy setup I’ve seen so far this Fall and Winter? At least that I’ve swatched.
Let’s just right in, I still have 2 more posts to do tonight, so less chatter more photos and all that jazz.
Almost Unearthly Thing
Almost Unearthly Thing is a grey brown crelly base with rosy pink shimmer and scattered holo flecks. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
This polish was inspired by Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (1847)
Illimitable Dominion
Illimitable Dominion is a burgundy jelly base with red/copper shimmer and scattered holo flecks. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Inspired by The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allen Poe (1842)
Discordant Melody
Discordant Melody is a deep magenta with turquoise shimmer and scattered holo flecks. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Inspired by Other Voices, Other Rooms by Truman Capote (1948)
An Imperfect Magic
An Imperfect Magic is a deep purple jelly base with cobalt blue shimmer and scattered holo flecks. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Inspired by We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson (1962)
Fear Of Sleep
Fear Of Sleep is one of my favorites from this collection! This is a dark teal with blue/purple shimmer and scattered holo flecks. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Inspired by Dracula by Bram Stoker (1897)
A Charm Of Stillness
A Charm Of Stillness is a deep blue leaning green with gold shimmer and scattered holo flecks. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Inspired by The Turn of the Screw by Henry James (1898
Midnight In The Dark
Midnight In The Dark is an extra polish you will receive if you purchase the full A Gothic Winter Collection!
Midnight In The Dark is a deep navy jelly base with green shimmer and scattered holo flecks. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Inspired by The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield (2006)
Contrary Polish A Gothic Winter Collection Overview
While I have been loving a lot of the brighter shades releasing lately, I did feel a little deprived of my vampy shades, so this collection really made up for it! I like that the elements are fairly simple (shimmer and holo flecks) and the bases really play well with them. The shimmer and flecks don’t overpower the base by any means, but elevate them in a way. Contrary Polish has always made an amazing shimmer, and I think her choices of shimmer color for each base color is perfect.

Terrific dark collection. Love Illimitable Dominion
You make every single polish look so gorgeous…. I think for my fave I’d pick Fear of Sleep… but they’re all SO pretty!
Illimitable Dominion is absolute perfection, and the whole collection is quite stunning!
I love these deep colors and they have just the right amount of shimmer. An Imperfect Magic is actually perfect.
Utterly sexy nails
Oh I love all these vampy shades!
