We all know about the Pokémon craze, whether you play it or not. It’s hard to miss it in your social media feed, and at first I was thinking “Nah, not for me” … until my son begged me to download it.

Now we (we share the account) are almost level 21 and Pokémon hunting on the weekend has become our mommy/son hobby. It’s also a great way to get him to do errands with me! Usually I have a 50/50 shot of him wanting to go to the store with me, but since Pokémon came out? He will go ANYWHERE with me. He’s also struck up conversations with cashiers who see him playing while I check out and he thinks it is so awesome that so many different people play.

Anyways, when Color4Nails said they were doing this collection, I was super excited! I even had my son guess which Pokémon he thought each color represented, and he got 3 of the 6 right.

Cadillacquer – Wishing Upon A Staryu

Cadillacquer took on Staryu as their inspiration! Wishing Upon A Staryu is a red coral jelly base packed with holo shimmer and small gold and bronze hex glitter. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Coral is one of those iffy colors with my camera, and this is actually a bit more pinkish in person.

Celestial Cosmetics – Judge, Judy and Exeggcute-tioner

Celestial Cosmetics took on Exeggcute! Judge, Jury and Exeggcute-tioner is a pink scattered holo with silvery white shimmer, I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

DIFFERENT dimension – Don’t Be A Tentacruel

DIFFERENT dimension took on Tentacruel and this is the ONE Pokémon I don’t currently have. I have Tentacool, but haven’t gotten Tentacruel yet, or enough Tentacool’s to evolve. Ugh

Don’t Be A Tentacruel is a medium blue linear holographic with pink micro flakes and added shimmer. It’s a tad lighter than my photos show. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Nine Zero – Happily Eevee After

Nine Zero took on Eevee! Happily Eevee After is a gorgeous copper linear holographic. Much like Don’t Be A Tentacruel, my camera made this a little darker than it truly is, so take it down a notch. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat. Because it’s on the metallic side, there were some minor brush strokes visible.

Delush Polish – Bad To The Cubone

Delush Polish took on Cubone! Bad To The Cubone is a black jelly base packed with gold shimmer and gold holo hex and dot glitters as well as white hex glitters. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Ever After – Pikachu, I See You!

I saved the most popular Pokémon for last. If you ask anyone to name a Pokémon, whether they play or not, Pikachu is probably the one everyone can name. Pikachu, I See You! is a yellow jelly based linear holographic with pink shimmer and small red micro flecks scattered in. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Color4Nails Pun With Pokémon Collection Overview

I personally found this to be a fun collection since I do play Pokémon Go. Before I played, I honestly only knew who Pikachu was. I have played the card game with my son (he’s been a Pokémon fan now for 5 years) but I really only half paid attention to the Pokémon characters. I would really like to see this collection expanded (where’s my Jigglypuff at?) and I think overtime it would be fun to see a Part 2, 3 and so on to cover more Pokémon characters. For this though, I really do like the idea, the names and the colors are quite pretty.

This was also my first time trying Nine Zero and I’ll be purchasing more. Of course you’ve seen the other 5 brands featured on my site fairly regularly (and I have some Different Dimensions, Ever Afters and Cadillacquers coming up on the blog in the next few days too!)
