China Glaze Hologlam Swatches and Review
Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far! I just got home from work and finally have a little time to sit down and write up a new blog post!
Today I will be showing you 6 of the 12 new China Glaze Hologlams! I have been waiting for this collection to release and am so glad it’s finally here! All of these have a very subtle, fluid looking holographic effect. They aren’t a super strong holo like the OMG Collection had.
So that I don’t keep repeating myself throughout this post – all 6 of these were done with 2 coats of polish and no top coat. You have to wait for each coat of polish to dry completely, otherwise the next coat will drag the previous coat. If you take too long painting a nail, the polish will start to dry a bit and also cause “drag lines” or balding in spots. All photos were taken in normal indoor lighting! No flash and no special bulbs to enhance the photos. All of the Hologlams will be stronger, holo-wise, outdoors in the sun!
Time for some photos!
Infra Red:
This is one of my favorites from the collection! Infra Red is a gorgeous magenta pink.

Don’t Be A Luna-Tic:
Don’t Be A Luna-Tic is another favorite, which I didn’t expect it to be. This is a pale aqua with green tones.

I shared this photo on my social media accounts last night and I still love it.
Galactic Gray:
Galactic Gray probably had the most noticeable holo effect in normal lighting. Galactic Gray is a gunmetal gray.

Get Outta My Space:
Get Outta My Space is another favorite and it’s currently still on my toes. Pretty Spring holo! Get Outta My Space is a pale violet holo.

I love the closeup of Get Outta My Space!
Not In This Galaxy:
Not In This Galaxy is a bright and warm coral!

Take A Trek:
Take A Trek is a denim blue holo.

And that wraps up the 6 China Glaze Hologlams I have to show you! There are 6 more in the collection which I currently don’t have, the missing ones are:
Astro-Hot: soft, baby pink
When Stars Collide: warm maroon
OMG A UFO: warm, moss green
Sci-Fly By: light, silver blue
Strap On Your Moonboots: midnight sky blue
Cosmic Dust: silver metal
Overall, I do like these polishes, but a part of me still wishes the holo was just a bit stronger like the OMG Collection was. I’m not unhappy though. I have a TON of holographic polishes, so it is nice to have some that are more on the subtle side. When I first saw the holo effect, the word fluid came to mind because of the subtlety and movement. I did not use a base coat for these photos, but I would recommend an aqua base. Sticky base coats will not work with the China Glaze Hologlams (which is what I usually use!) and will really muck up your mani if you use them.

You can avoid those “drag lines” with an aqua base coat (or, if you don’t want to spend the money for one, a base coat of regular white glue will also work).
I don’t have Aqua Base, but I am looking into getting it for that reason. Thanks!
