So I’m almost completely caught up with my reviews since tax season ended, which means I can squeeze in reviews of items I personally purchased.
Right after I got my tax refund, I saw the preorder for the Chaos & Crocodiles Once Upon A Unicorn Collection and decided to grab it. I’ve always wanted to try the brand so it was the perfect time.
It was a preorder so I knew I wouldn’t receive it right away, and I was fine waiting. Her website gave a pretty decent timeline of when to expect preorders to start shipping out and about a month later this package arrived.
It was worth the wait.
Let’s take a look at my latest splurge collection! And I bought the full collection because it was pretty but also because it came with a gift for doing so, which was a holographic top coat.
My Favorite Color Is Unicorn
My Favorite Color Is Unicorn is a linear holographic top coat that can be used to boost a color in the collection, or another polish you want to add holographic flair to. For these photos I used 1 coat of My Favorite Color Is Unicorn over piCture pOlish Tiffany so you could see how much holo is in this bad boy.
Again, this was the free gift included for purchasing the full collection.
I really loved this combination.
Tropical Candy Flowers
Tropical Candy Flowers is a difficult one for me to explain. It’s a muted rosy coral linear holographic. While it’s definitely in the coral family, there is some pink tones to it, some rust like tones to it, but also a rose hue to it. Really pretty.
I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Forgotten Paths
Forgotten Paths is a slightly pink leaning nude linear holographic with gold shimmer. My bottle of Forgotten Paths was a little on the thick side which made for some self leveling issues, so I had to apply it in really thin coats to avoid it as much as possible. Nothing unbearable, but it was the only one that did that which leads me to believe it might just be an issue with my bottle.
I used 2 coats for these photos.
Unicorn Symphony
Unicorn Symphony is a slightly dusty aqua linear holographic with subtle turquoise shimmer. I used 2 coats for these photos and a glossy top coat.
City In The Clouds
City In The Clouds is a slightly dusty, yet vibrant deep sky blue linear holographic with shimmer. I used 2 coats for these photos.
Spun Sugar Magic
Spun Sugar Magic is a slightly muted mid toned lilac linear holographic with some purple shimmer. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Wishing Star Sky
Wishing Star Sky is a cool toned dusty purple linear holographic with a subtle shimmer added. I used 2 coats for these photos and a glossy top coat.
Overview
Once again I am happy with my purchase. This was my first experience with Chaos & Crocodiles and it won’t be my last. I’m kicking myself a little for not grabbing the other collection that was up when I grabbed this one (Dreaming Of Dragons I think?) but I didn’t want to go overboard with a brand I hadn’t yet tried before.
All 6 shades had great opacity and I only needed 2 coats for each color. All had good application with the exception of my bottle of Forgotten Paths, which was thicker than the other shades and caused for some self leveling issues.
These are currently sold out in her shop, but check out the links below for restocking info and updates.

Gorgeous swatches. I have to say though City In The Clouds is my favorite, such a beautiful shade of blue.
Even though there are some beautiful and bright colors up there…I think my favorite is the nude-ish pink. It’s so beautiful!! Lovely swatches!
This was really a wonderful pastel holo collection! So glad you got it and liked it, too.
Forgotten Path, Unicorn Symphony and Wishing Star Sky are making my heart beat faster! So much softness <3 and the holo is the perfect finish to them.
