It’s finally that time when the next A Box, Indied posts start rolling out! So today I have A Box, Indied May 2016 Kentucky Derby to share with you!

This month the theme is Kentucky Derby (you probably already figured that out though) and the makers involved for May 2016 are Girly Bits, Colors by Llarowe, Cirque Colors, Black Cat Lacquer and Crowstoes!

I believe we’ve seen all of these makers in previous boxes except Cirque Colors – who I was really happy to see added to the mix of talented creators.

As always, at the end of this post you will find a list of other bloggers who will also have this box up on their blogs or IG channels so you can check them out as well.

Girly Bits Hat-A-Tude

Girly Bits Hat-A-Tude is a silver, purple, violet, and magenta full coverage microglitter with a flash of red/pink shimmer. I used 2 coats and a thick top coat. Because of all the microglitters, this does dry down with a slight texture. It’s very light – but if you use a thin top coat you might need to double up for a complete smooth look. I used Girly Bits Glitter Glaze and was able to get a smooth look in 1 coat.

Colors by Llarowe Mint Julep

Colors by Llarowe Mint Julep is a vibrant medium toned mint green linear holographic. I used 2 easy coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Cirque Colors Flora Fete

I usually do glitter toppers over light shades or even white or black… but when I saw this, I had to pair it with China Glaze What I Like About Blue.

Cirque Colors Flora Fete is a clear based glitter topper that contains square and hex glitters in multiple sizes in shades of pink, yellow, purple, red, and white. I used 1 coat over China Glaze What I Like About Blue for these photos. The light shimmer you can see in closeups is from the China Glaze base and not the Cirque Colors.

Black Cat Lacquer Run For The Roses

Black Cat Lacquer Run For The Roses is a cherry red jelly base filled with red and gold shimmers and glitters. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Crowstoes Dark Horse

Crowstoes Dark Horse is a black base with silver shimmer and gunmetal holographic microglitters for a spark of color. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

I really like that all 5 shades are completely different. None of the finishes are the same, and the colors vary nicely. I had no application issue with any of the 5 shades.
