This week flew by and I was so not ready for that! There’s several releases coming and I’ll be sharing them over the next few days! Today we’re looking at Bee’s Knees Lacquer Elden Ring Collection Part One!
So yes… this is part one. In July you will see 9 more Elden Ring inspired shades to complete the full 18 piece collection. I cannot believe my brain is so tired I had to stop a second and think “What’s 9 plus 9…” to type that sentence. That’s the kind of week I’m having!
To see all of Part One swatched – check out my YouTube video!
Truth be told – I’ve never played Elden Ring and don’t know much about it. When it came out I was fairly busy with blogging, work and my son getting through high school and all of the fun projects. I played more arcade like games at the time, games that don’t require a ton of thought or storyline… so I can’t say whether I find these to match the inspiration or not. I can still appreciate the colors though. There were a few hits, and a few misses for me.
For the fine details, I do use Apres Gel X Nails in Extra Short Stiletto which are clear nails. I do not use blurring base coats (unless I’m reviewing them) or anything to increase opacity of the nails – and it shows during my YouTube videos especially. With the clear nails, if you can see through the tip still – then odds are you will also see VNL through the polish I have on. If you cannot see through them, then opacity was likely reached.
While I am showing a blurring base in this post, none of my photos are taken using it until that set of photos to show with and without. Each polish aside from that set though are just the polish on it’s own.
I work during the day in a medical office, and on weekends I enjoy day time shenanigans with my son – so most of my swatching is done at night in studio lighting. I also use a fairly basic, older point and shoot camera (Nikon L830) and I don’t do any fun frills to be fancy.
Let’s take a look!
Bee’s Knees Lacquer | Let’s See The Stars
Let’s See The Stars is a blurple crelly base with blue shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
This shade is a bit darker in person.
Bee’s Knees Lacquer | Torrent
Torrent is a taupe grey jelly base loaded with a subtle silver to blue shifting metallic shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Brush strokes were visible in the finish of this one, and if you have a strong VNL – it will likely show through.
Bee’s Knees Lacquer | Praise the Dog
Praise The Dog is a sheer greyed out blue jelly base with strong pink to gold to green microfleck shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
If you have strong VNL it will show through
Bee’s Knees Lacquer | Get Lobstered
Get Lobstered is a sheer greyed out lavender purple with strong green to blue microfleck shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
This is one of my favorites of the set and looks amazing in person against my skintone. It’s a good “neutral with flair” if you are looking for a slightly more toned down shade that still has a little oomph
Bee’s Knees Lacquer | This Is Caelid!
Side Note: Label has the name spelled wrong, BKL will send customer’s bottles with the correct label.
This Is Caelid! is described as a scarlet red jelly with strong green to purple to magenta microflake shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
On application, the base looked more like a tomato red on me. The shimmer had a fairly strong purpley-pink shift which helped tone down the warmth of the red (warm reds don’t always look great on me)
Bee’s Knees Lacquer | Where Am I?
Where Am I? is an emerald green to blue to purple multicrhome that has a reddish orange shift at extreme angles. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
The first coat was fairly sheer but it built up nicely
Bee’s Knees Lacquer | Maidenless
Maidenless is a sheer, pale, pink leaving lavender jelly base with gold to greent o blue microflake shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
This is incredibly sheer – my photos show 3 coats and it’s very transparent still.
Bee’s Knees Lacquer | The Golden Path
The Golden Path is a dark gold jelly base with gold to green shimmer and holo flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
This is a Lion cousin, for those familiar and collecting the Lion shades.
Bee’s Knees Lacquer | Nokstella
Nokstella is a mid toned purple jelly base with pink to gold to green shimmer and holo flake. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
This is also a Lion cousin.
Bee’s Knees Lacquer | Elden Ring Collection Part One
Part Two of this collection will be coming in July – and I just got the final few shades for it! There were some hits and some misses in this set for me, but a lot of that rests on personal preferences. I really loved Get Lobstered, Where Am I? and Praise the Dog. I’m not so keen on Maidenless or The Golden Path – but those are purely because golden shades don’t look great on me, and Maidenless would have been amazing on me if it had a little more opacity. I need to find a polish undie to wear with that one that’s similar in color.
