Bee’s Knees Lacquer | Daughter of the Moon Goddess

Happy Thursday! I have the upcoming Bee’s Knees Lacquer collection to share… and it’s the Daughter of the Moon Goddess Collection!

I will have a video up this weekend for this collection – so once completed, I will link it in this post.

The Bee’s Knees Lacquer Daughter of the Moon Goddess Collection is a 10 piece collection based on the book by Sue Lynn Tan. It’s a romantic fantasy that Sarah absolutely loves. I actually hadn’t heard of it – so I will have to check it out.

The majority of this collection is sheer. I think only 2 polishes reached opacity on me, or near opacity. Along with this collection, Bee’s Knees Lacquer is also launching a blurring base coat called Phantom and I will show it at the end of this post.

For the fine details, I do use Apres Gel X Nails in Extra Short Stiletto which are clear nails. I do not use blurring base coats (unless I’m reviewing them) or anything to increase opacity of the nails – and it shows during my YouTube videos especially. With the clear nails, if you can see through the tip still – then odds are you will also see VNL through the polish I have on. If you cannot see through them, then opacity was likely reached.

While I am showing a blurring base in this post, none of my photos are taken using it until that set of photos to show with and without. Each polish aside from that set though are just the polish on it’s own.

I work during the day in a medical office, and on weekends I enjoy day time shenanigans with my son – so most of my swatching is done at night in studio lighting. I also use a fairly basic, older point and shoot camera (Nikon L830) and I don’t do any fun frills to be fancy cause I don’t know how, if we’re being completely honest.

Ready to take a look?

Bee’s Knees Lacquer | They Would Know My Name One Day

They Would Know My Name One Day is a soft sheer blue with pink to gold to green microflake shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Bee’s Knees Lacquer | I Will Be Your Undoing

I Will Be Your Undoing is a soft, sheer minty green with pink to gold to green microflake shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Bee’s Knees Lacquer | The Celestial Kingdom

The Celestial Kingdom is a soft sheer sky blue with pink to gold to green microflake shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Bee’s Knees Lacquer | Sunbird

Sunbird is a sheer golden yellow that almost borders on chartreuse with red to green microflake shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Bee’s Knees Lacquer | The Demon Realm

The Demon Realm is a sheer pale greige base with glowy gold to green to blue shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This is one of the more opaque polishes in the set – but i did need 3 coats to get there.

Bee’s Knees Lacquer | Little Star

Little Star is a sheer aqua polish with strong gold to green shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

I do feel like this is more of a turquoise, but likely that’s due to the gold shimmer mixed with the aqua base.

Bee’s Knees Lacquer | The Phoenix Queen

The Phoenix Queen is a sheer coral with silvery blue to pink microflake shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Bee’s Knees Lacquer | True Greatness Lies Within

True Greatness Lies Within is a sheer barbie pink with light green to blue microflake shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This is one of the more opaque sheers, but I think it’s due to the shimmer content. You will still see VNL through it.

Bee’s Knees Lacquer | There Are No Prizes In The Game of Hearts

There Are No Prizes In The Game of Hearts – a sheer pinky red with green to blue microflake shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Bee’s Knees Lacquer | Sky-fire

Sky-fire is a dark taupe jelly base with small particle silver magnetic shimmer. I found I did need 3 coats for full opacity when magnetized, but only 2 coats if left unmagnetized.

I show it both ways and I used a standard bar magnet and waited about 30 minutes for photos to let the particles naturally spread a bit.

Bee’s Knees Lacquer | Phantom (Blurring Base Coat)

Phantom is the new blurring base coat! It is just like the Spirit base coat but with a white tint to it, so it will have the same ridge filling benefits. Obviously i have gel nails on and cannot speak of ridge filling – but I did just 1 coat for these photos, and it’s a nice crelly like consistency with a nice milky look.

Below you will see it alone, then with 2 coats of 4 different shades from this collection over it, and then the same 4 colors alone in 2 coats – just so you can see the difference.

In order – the collection shades are (index to pinky) The Phoenix Queen, Little Star, They Would Know My Name One Day and Sunbird.

Bee’s Knees Lacquer | Daughter of the Moon Goddess

If you love sheers and bright colors – this is a good collection for you. While I do like and appreciate these, I do prefer them with the blurring base coat. Application was really nice, and considering they are primarily supposed to be sheer – they performed as expected.
