I am so excited to be able to share the Apocalypse Polish debut launch! This post will show the Very Strange Things Collection, the GWP (Gift With Purchase) shades! There are some new essentials coming, and you can see those in video.
After over 13 years of swatching, I still get very excited to work with new brands (I still get excited about older brands as well though!)

This collection is inspired by Stranger Things – which I honestly started watching finally after receiving this collection. Truth be told, I am chicken and don’t do well with “scary” anything (much to Spawn’s delight… he’s a horror fanatic) and I had some people telling me Stranger Things was scary, while others said it wasn’t. I did finally watch through season 2 so far though, and I wouldn’t say scary at all – and I’m quite enjoying it. I took a break cause I needed something more upbeat for a bit, so Brooklyn 99 is playing now.
Okay so – the first 6 polishes I’m sharing are the actual collection. The following 5 are possible GWP (Gift With Purchase) shades. Is there a particular GWP you want? Put it in the comments at checkout and they will do their best to accommodate!
For the fine details, I do use Apres Gel X Nails in Extra Short Stiletto which are clear nails. I do not use blurring base coats (unless I’m reviewing them) or anything to increase opacity of the nails – and it shows during my YouTube videos especially. With the clear nails, if you can see through the tip still – then odds are you will also see VNL through the polish I have on. If you cannot see through them, then opacity was likely reached.
I work during the day in a medical office, and on weekends I enjoy day time shenanigans with my son – so most of my swatching is done at night in studio lighting. I also use a fairly basic, older point and shoot camera (Nikon L830) and I don’t do any fun frills to be fancy.
Okay – ready to jump in? I do want to add that all of these polishes and essentials have a nice paddle brush and application was a really good.
Apocalypse Polish | Dear Billy
Dear Billy is a deep cherry red crelly base with cherry red shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
This is a slightly deeper red in person.
Apocalypse Polish | I Dump Your Ass
I Dump Your Ass is a neon magenta purple with a soft blue to purple shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
For the whole collection – this is the one i see myself reaching for the most. It’s striking in person and just a fun, happy color.
Apocalypse Polish | Mornings Are For Coffee and Contemplation
Mornings Are For Coffee and Contemplation is a waffley orange beige crelly base with gold shimmer. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
In person this shade of orange is a bit more muted. My camera brightened it up, and even though I tried to tone it down – I didn’t quiet get the true shade.
Apocalypse Polish | Running Up That Hill
Running Up That Hill is a large particle red to orange to gold shimmer in a soft, sheer tomato red jelly base. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Apocalypse Polish | Very Strange Things
Very Strange Things is a clear base with red and blue micro glitter bomb with red and black holographic microglitters. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Apocalypse Polish | In Soviet Russia, Upside Down Comes To You
In Soviet Russia, Upside Down Comes To You is a crelly based thermal that shifts from shimmer blue (warm) to cool berry (cold) with large particle blue shimmer and wintery blue glitters. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Apocalypse Polish | 001 (GWP)
001 is a bright true orange-red neon in a jelly leaning crelly formula. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Apocalypse Polish | Eleven, Eleven, Make A Strange Wish (GWP)
Eleven, Eleven, Make A Strange Wish is glitter bomb with red and blue holo glitters and multichrome glitter that shifts from blu eto red to green and a soft multichrome red-brown pigment base. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
This is my personal favorite of all polishes shown.
Apocalypse Polish | Friends Don’t Lie (GWP)
Friends Don’t Lie is a crelly based thermal that shifts from soft lavender (warm) to cobalt (cold) with purple shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Apocalypse Polish | Squelching Sounds Intensify (GWP)
Squelching Sounds Intensify is a black jelly base with red to green shimmer, holo flakes and silver glitter. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
The black jelly base and red shifting shimmer gives this a purpley gunmetal type vibe.
Apocalypse Polish | The Sorcerer (GWP)
The Sorcerer is a greyed out teal with strong purple shimmer and emerald holographic flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Apocalypse Polish | Very Strange Things Collection
I really enjoyed this debut collection. There is a nice mix and some interesting combos. I am leaning more into the GWPs being some top picks for me – but from the actual collection – I Dump Your Ass, Very Strange Things and In Soviet Russia, Upside Down Comes To You are my top picks.
Overall though – Eleven, Eleven, Make A Strange Wish is my #1.
