Just a few days ago a new collab duo hit the indie market, and it’s the Anne of Green Gables Duo with Night Owl Lacquer & Wildflower Lacquer!
I used to watch our VHS copy of Anne of Green Gables, as well as the sequel – Anne of Avonlea (I think that was the name, it’s probably been 20 years since I’ve seen it) So when I heard about this duo, it brought back memories.
Half of this duo was created by Night Owl Lacquer and half by Wildflower Lacquer, let’s take a look at each one.
Gilbert + Anne
Gilbert + Anne is a deep blue jelly with reddish copper shimmer, green to gold ultra chrome chameleon flakes and red to copper to orange to gold ultra chrome chameleon flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. My lighting makes the polish seem more sheer than it really is.
Gilbert Blythe was a classmate, later a friend and eventually the husband of Anne.
They had some rocky moments and kind of a competitive friendship – but later married. In the beginning he wanted her attention and called her “carrots” and pulled her hair. She was sensitive about her red hair and smashed a slate on his head and wouldn’t forgive him or acknowledge him for calling her carrots.
Kindred Spirits
Kindred Spirits is a warm toned red linear holographic with gold shimmer and scattered gold and bronze flakes. The linear holo is shy for the camera. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
A kindred spirit in the Anne of Green Gables series is someone who understands Anne Shirley very well, well enough to know what she is thinking. There were actually several “kindred spirits” to Anne in the series – including Matthew Cuthbert (adoptive father) and Diana Barry (best friend)

Whether you watch Anne of Green Gables or not – this is an adorable duo. Because I saw them and remember them (I’m a little rusty, but overall I remember a lot of it) it has a little more nostalgia for me personally.
