Great Lakes Lacquer is getting ready to launch their Winter 2015 Collection which is named Doctor’s Orders. Doctor’s Orders is a whole collection based on quotes by Dr. Suess and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This collection will be released this Friday (December 11th)

I would be a little more chatty, but my boyfriend got his Christmas gift today and it is basically a rack to house all our electronic crap for the computer room so he spent time getting everything set up… so I was out of internet for awhile and now I’m exhausted! But at least it arrived, there were many fights with Amazon since it was suppose to be here over a week ago and they failed to freaking ship it (yay for Prime… pffft) but it’s here, built and it’s a beast.

Great Lakes Lacquer Winter 2015 Collection: Doctor’s Orders Unless Swatch

From Dr. Suess and The Lorax. “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better.  It’s not.”

Unless is a deep, emerald green jelly base with gold shimmer of three different kinds with the addition of sparse copper holo microglitter. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

From Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  “We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.”

Infinite Hope is a dark sapphire blue jelly base with silver scattered holo. I used 2 coats for these photos, and while this is one of my favorites from the collection, the polish itself leaned more onto the thick side. It was still usable, but I had to be careful with application and add thin layers.

From Dr. Seuss.  “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”

Those Who Matter is a deep cranberry red linear holographic jelly base with royal purple shimmer. I used 3 thin coats for these photo.

Great Lakes Lacquer Winter 2015 Collection: Doctor’s Orders Youer Than You Swatch

From Dr. Seuss and Happy Birthday to You.  “Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.”

First off, this shade is a lot more purple than my photos show. My camera hates these colors (even though I love them so!) and wants to grab all the blue. Youer Than You is a blue leaning medium purple jelly base with mint and purple shimmer and aqua to green shifting iridescent flakes. I used 3 thin coats for these photos and a glossy top coat.

Great Lakes Lacquer Winter 2015 Collection: Doctor’s Orders Only Love Can Do That Swatch

From Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that.  Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”

Only Love Can Do That is a silvery white crelly base with micro rainbow flakes and a linear holographic. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. Silvers always get me and I love this shade. It’s a delicate silver and the additional holo and flakes give it an even more delicate look because they aren’t overpowering at all, just a nice addition that flows with the base.

From Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.”

Silence is a blue leaning gray creme with shimmer that shifts from a violet to red to blue and bronze flakes mixed in. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Great Lakes Lacquer Winter 2015 Collection: Doctor’s Orders Don’t Give Up Swatch

From Dr. Seuss and Horton Hears a Who. “Don’t give up!  I believe in you all.  A person’s a person, no matter how small!”

Don’t Give Up is a peachy pink warm nude with copper shimmer running throughout. When I first received this, I wasn’t sure if I would like it or not, but the shimmer really sells it for me. In the bottle though, the shimmer is harder to see unless the light hits just right, but it’s much more prominent on the nail, but still delicate. Definitely another favorite for me in the collection and can be worn year round when you want a nice palette cleanser color.

Great Lakes Lacquer Winter 2015 Collection: Doctor’s Orders Overview

Overall I do like this collection. With shades like Youer Than You, Only Love Can Do That and Silence – you get a really wintery feel. The only shade I had some minor issues with was Infinite Hope because it was a little on the thick side for me. It wasn’t impossible to apply by any means, just took a little more time. With that being said, it was also one of my favorite shades in the collection, along with Youer Than You, Only Love Can Do That and Don’t Give Up.
